Lordy. Not every open world RPG needs to be compared to BotW. It didn't invent the genre or literally any of the mechanics in that game.

@Pots22 the woke press crucified Kingdom Come Deliverance because they had the audacity to say there weren't many black people in medieval Europe. Play it yourself. It's a much better game than Elder Scrolls.
Elder Scrolls was great at its peak but it has been surpassed. The combat, storytelling and exploration of Kingdom Come Deliverance was far more fun and rewarding. I'm looking forward to its sequel much more than a Skyrim reskin.
GTA would have been infinitely better off paying a pittance to modder to steal their work instead of giving the job to some low rent mobile port devs that were clearly out of their depth and take no pride in their work.

They have been clear it isn't making them money. If they want to make money with it they will have to either raise the price, add more MTX or both. Especially if many of its users are streaming games from the cloud. The hardware and bandwidth for that doesn't come cheap.
Has it though? 18 million game pass subscribers when there are billions of PCs and Androids as potential game pass users isn't a seismic shift. That's not even half of the numbers Xbone One moved and it was an underperforming console. Why are people playing such an obviously poorly developed game?
Assassin's Creed is worthy fun simply for the sake of historical virtual sightseeing if nothing else. Watch Dogs has BY FAR the best and most immersive open world with thousands of named NPCs living complex lives. Ghost Recon and Far Cry can go in the garbage bin though.

That's not how any of this works. Heat, power consumption and die space will ensure the next switch will still be less powerful than the PS4. The current switch is basically equal to a PS3/Wii U.
Nintendo is chasing the casual market as always. They have ignored PC but are bringing all of their big franchises to phones filled with MTX and other addictive gambling mechanics.

Sony don't make money from selling consoles unless people then go out and buy games for that console. Giving away games at a very low subsidized subscription price would be counterproductive to that plan. If you want to argue that eventually a subscription model could be more lucrative than selling games if there are enough subscribers and you raise the price over time that has a chance of being true but it's certainly not the current reality and certainly not the future I want to see...
