Sorry isn't that the point. We gamers are like heroin addicts we always comeback for more. If Persona was or Final Fantasy went Nintendo exclusive( I know it wouldn't) then they would have a huge amount of people forking over the coin for their system.
I had conversation with my sister in law about some of this. And in the end I had to agree with her. With all the new opportunitys out there the industry is going to be through growing pains. A balance will be struck. Whether it be before or after a crash hits or not there will be people who wish to offer better value and hopefully more of them, than those who wish to make games simply for profit.
Yea, the adage if ain't broke don't fix it. Some things need to be addressed but for the most part the stories were fun engaging and lasted longer. Xenogears was a mature story, had some humor and completely left you awe struck when you started putting things together. I am going to replay it this year. 70 hours booked.

Turn based is fun, just the randomness of the battles need to be balanced and grinding needs to be disguised as side quests for actually worth it items. Playing ff6 items were hidden and you got rewarded for exploring and thinking, the latest ff's have everything out in the open.
It is actually a problem with the way people receive their news today. It is Instant. So in many circles, not just gaming, any little tidbit of information is now news. Any announcement is worth reporting to fill the void that people expect to be filled while still creating hype.
I see your point better in the manner you described, but still all the choices given in games had to be thought up by the developer. In skyrim you have tons of choices but most of the outcomes are pre determined either by obviousness: ie you kill this guy this quest can't be finished or you saved him and did the right thing. I hear ya, sometimes I hesitate to buy games, but now I think of it this way. If everyone stopped buying because it might come free on plus then plus would have to stop. And I usually buy games brand new so I get a lot of time in between it's potential appearance that is worth something as I didn't have to wait.
The games that we get free often have DLC available. DLC is a better return on investment for game companies when purchased then a game bought at the bargain bin. By easing the price of consumer adoption the consumer is more likely to spend more money on the extra DLC. So it is kind of a win win for everybody.

Even if the specs don't matter, why would you suggest to your family to spend an extra 100, spend more for Gold than for plus, and maybe get crappy free games with gold while Psplus gets games like outlast for ps4 not even 4 months after the console comes out?

Cloud can not run a game better unless you have Internet. No Internet no cloud. So how will ms solve the problem of reaching parity for those without Internet?
Also more to the point: Cloud is b.s . The cloud can not think faster than an on-board CPU. While it may be able to do distance textures and some weather and lighting effects it cannot make character models in motion look good as there is too much latency. Also if Microsoft can do cloud Sony can just as easily.
The Xbox is not the problem. I would buy an Xbox for remedy's game and halo 5, (after the reviews came out) but Microsoft is. And this guy nailed it. Microsoft and EA especially view games as strictly business. And while some risks get taken, they are generally absent of passion for gaming because the companies are run by strictly numbers men and not gaming business adults.
He is justifying it to himself as much as he justifying to us. Microsoft has certainly not made choosing them easy this gen.
