Number one for me is split:
Super Mario RPG, the base for a future of light hearted games with great combat mechanics, and perhaps the best Mario RPG to date outside of Paper Mario: TTYD.
FF3(FF6) is perhaps the best JRPG ever made, easily up there as one of the top examples of stellar story telling, pushing together all the best elements of sprite based JRPGs to culminate in a masterpiece.
Obviously I lean towards RPGs with my particul...
The trick to mods that has always worked is simply setting up a donation system. If you play a simple mod and like it, maybe you toss a dollar or two to the mod creator. If you play a complex mod and like it, maybe you toss a few more dollars. Services like Patreon have made it obvious that people with extra cash will support the people and projects they appreciate on a regular basis, and a donation based system makes good will and keeps mods from being a minefield of payments for potentially...
I would say in some ways it is stronger than Uncharted 3 and held a lot of potential as a handheld offering. Getting Bluepoint on porting it would likely have great results and really polish up some of the original rougher edges.
Apparently the version out in the wild isn't the completely finalized version being pushed with the SNES Classic. I don't know how substantial the differences will be all in all, but we'll know for sure when the SNES Classic drops and reviews inevitably happen.
There are dozens, if not hundreds of these specific system emulator boxes out there that go a step further to recreate or salvage original hardware to make a digital/physical hybrid box. Most of them are of questionable build quality and origins, almost guaranteed to be loaded with pirated games as an unofficial product. I tend to say to skip those because ethically you aren't doing companies anymore of a favor than if you simply pirated the games on your PC. Otherwise they are just cheap...
Perusing their list, I realize I own half of those games in definitive editions in my Steam library already. That said, they should really see about getting the old From Software games on there. They had some solid IP that hasn't seen the light of day in a long while.
Won't happen. Like darthv72 pointed out, it will be impossible to get a fair few games on there, as license buying and renewal is not possible. With the way Microsoft does BC on the One, basically using your physical disc to authorize a digital download of an enhanced copy, they would either have to just add essentially an Xbox emulator, something no human has bothered with to a significant degree, to allow the discs to straight up work with no frills, or skip that game entirely and go on...
The disagrees are probably because the comment is poorly worded. It has a bad joke for line one, a disagree waiting to happen, but then seems to validate the slippery slope train of thought with the second line. Reading it at a glance, I would have hit disagree too.
That's different. Microsoft's method of cross play really isn't cross play. You have to log into their network, use their resources, get DLC validated on their network, and overall you are basically playing on an Xbox while playing their "cross play" titles. It is a poor excuse for cross play that cedes control from all other parties to force the use of a single network where other companies have absolutely no say.
This isn't dedicated servers whe...
"The door is open" because Microsoft won't open their network. Instead you have to jump into theirs to play anything with them. Playing on games with cross platform play on the Switch will mean making an Xbox Live account and basically surrendering any and all control. Is it any wonder Sony doesn't want to be part of a system that lifts control and damages their own network statistics?
Any valid points that could have been made were pretty much buried by an article that was otherwise an excuse to complain about what was or wasn't at E3. There is no intelligent look at why this VR project may have been selected, and instead VR as a whole is dumped on with this acting as a launching point.
0/10 won't be visiting site again
The Switch seems to be very much a Nintendo console. What did they announce and talk about? Mario, Yoshi, Metroid, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, and Kirby, along with a bit about XCX2. Not to mention they committed the mortal sin of announcing games they literally had nothing to show for, not even a shiny cinematic trailer. So far it is looking like a standard Nintendo lineup. Third parties were strangely quiet considering so much is supposedly in the works for the Switch. Overall, the Switch seems t...
Ehhhh, in this case, Microsoft could have used that extra little boost to close their conference on a high note. Forza 7 being the only freshly announced AAA exclusive with so few others on the horizon really hurts. Timed exclusives and indies don't sell consoles.
The continued Playstation domination is impressive. This year's E3 may not have announced much new, but it sure solidified why sales will stay strong well into next year.
GT Sport was in the media showcase that happened an hour before the actual press conference. There were a few smaller announcements packed in that hour that most people didn't see because they thought all the information was in the actual press conference.
With Devolver Digital's new hardware, now your purse can be deposited right into Sony's wallet through your screen.
Absolutely hilarious because the criticisms were so valid. Probably the best thing to come out of E3 in a very long time.
Wut? 50 hours is lengthy for any JRPG. There's a point where accessibility goes out the window and a game becomes a time commitment over a hobby. That said, I've played and beaten most of the DQ series, and outside of VIII, most of them clock in on average 20 - 25 hours. This is going to be a gigantic game and pretending this is less content than anticipated seems strange to me.
The problem is ultimately that this is a forced requirement to even play the game. On the surface, it sounds alright. Thinking a bit more, you realize:
1. This is not a game you can play online with an unspeaking stranger. This is a game for two friends or at least two chatty gamers to play to collaborate on advancement and decisions.
2. This means you and the other player not only need to actively communicate, but both own the game, be willing to play at...
Although MegamanXXX put it poorly, there is a valid nugget buried in there. As gamers, we tend to overlook the controller market, but consider how many controllers you buy for a system and the amount more you would pay for a truly functional, comfortable controller. It can make the difference between a comfortable couple of hours of gaming and a comfortable binge session. Although it was aimed at enthusiasts, the Elite controller did not only appeal to them. It appealed to gamers in general a...
