3 are Sony games: Astro Bot (2024), God Of War (2018), The Last Of Us 2 (2020).

Out of PlayStation, Nintendo and Xbox, PlayStation is where people could play the highest number of these GOTYs.

PS: 9/10 of them
Nintendo: 4/10
Xbox: 6/10

100%. They should work on some $40m-$60m games. Can take more creative risks and get the games out faster.

Would also possibly allow these studios to have 2 games in production at once if the team is already large enough to support that..

Forgot to say that the late releases on consoles for some of these indie FPS games definitely hurts awareness of them and sales, tbh. Much more people should have played Sprawl. Love the F.E.A.R influence and the movement/wall running.

Some others that I want ports of:
- Turbo Overkill (coming soon, there is a demo on Series X)
- Mullet MadJack
- Echo Point Nova
- I Am Your Beast
- Anger Foot
- ULTRAKILL when it's fi...

Putting aside the topic for a moment, this article seems AI generated. The writing is dogshit.

It's claimed that the website was founded in 2022 when it has 2 weeks of articles and doesn't show up in any search engine. https://gamingsektor.com/au...

For Hot Pursuit Remastered, make sure to enable 60fps in the settings. From memory, think it isn't enabled by default.

Shows the importance of exclusivity.

Trilogy? It's a great game but I don't want MachineGames to only work on Indiana Jones for the next decade, tbh.

Would like to see Wolfenstein 3 (they gotta finish that trilogy) and an original IP from them.

@isarai

We're in agreement on the PS4 gen then.

I could be wrong but I do think that the last few years of this gen are going to be more like the better years of the PS4 gen though. 2025 seems quite good. Let's see.

And for me, a saving grace for this gen is that 3D indie games with tight controls have become more common.

It's allowed Indie/AA games to continue some of the spirit of the PS1/PS2 era. They&#...

To me, this argument only makes sense if you draw the line at PS360.

The current state of the industry is the same as the PS4/XB1 gen. That's where the AAA game releases became very slow e.g. a 6 year gap between inFamous First Light and Ghost Of Tsushima.

Rockstar only released 1 game last gen. Ubisoft fell off in game quality immediately. EA published ten times more good games on PS3 than PS4 (mostly slop). Capcom have continued their resurgence int...

Where are you getting "27th in sales" from? You can look on the PS Store right now: https://store.playstation.c...

It has legs and is continuing to sell well.

Astro Bot's been doing very well on the PS Store Best Sellers since the Game Awards. And leading up to it.

"Those waiting for this game to flop got the crow pie."

Who are you referring to? Even the worst PS fanboy would not be rooting for it to fail as it's coming to PS5 anyway.

Getting bored of FIFA and COD is a very predictable outcome though, tbh.

Shouldn't matter. If this was a TV show, very few people would care.

id Tech is excellent now but it is very specialised and built with a certain type of game in mind (semi-linear FPS games).

A lot of work would have to be done for id Tech to be a more general purpose engine that could work for a broad range of games.

"John Carmack ... made the best game engines, better than whatever Epic Games had".

If we go back to that time, that's debatable. Rage was Carmack's last id Software game....

A lot of work probably have to be done for it to work for a more broad range of games like Unreal does.

I would like to see an engine get licensed and be a market competitor to Unreal though. Shame that we'll see no more REDengine games.

Pretty sure it's just the "unlocked VRR" setting that a lot of Sony games put in their options. Same terminology.

Let's the framerate go above 60fps for 120Hz TVs. More games should have this option on both consoles.

The headline for the average and the actual quote differ a little bit. "On average, we can recover development costs within about one to one and a half years after release." So between 1 to 1.5 years after release. It's a range.

Does put into perspective all the jeering that Alan Wake 2 has "only" almost recouped all of its dev and marketing costs within in a year though. I just typed "alan wake 2 recoup" into Google and this one of the fir...
