Oh, wow. Burning to death is one of the worst ways to go. That is horrendous news.

Vince's consistency is legendary and everything he worked on turned to gold. RIP.

Few different factors here:
- 34% of Steam users play games in Chinese as of 2024. They tend to play multiplayer games that run on weak hardware and lack interest in singleplayer games compared to other markets.

- A lot of Steam users have very low end hardware and aren't going to play new games anyway. The top 3 games (Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds) run on weak hardware, including laptops. We know that the Steam Machine is more powerful th...

Nice to see COD finally lose and be punished for such a weak entry.

It's a good thing. They have had to commit to no longer releasing sequels only a year later (MW2->MW3, BO6->BO7) that make the previous worst entries in the franchise look respectable.

Note: Weaker sales in America compared to Europe setting sales records is a reflection of a busted American economy.

Have you played the spin-off Judgement games out of interest? Would personally recommend. They're brawlers

Depends. Technically, they could spend many years on The Witcher 4, upgrading everything and polishing a new gameplay system with the story all planned out with the tools to create new content all set up.

Then release The Witcher 5 three years later. Then release Witcher 6 three years later. They would be iterative sequels.

It would be a 6 year release schedule from the perspective of a player but could be 11+ years of development. Unreal Engine 5 does al...

Returnal has that sense of isolation. Depends of what a series is aiming for.

Miles MacKenzie is worse than any Sony NPC, tbf. GOW: Ragnarok added an option to stop the puzzle hints. When you remove that issue (and I agree, it's annoying), the dialogue is good and Atreus has always served a gameplay purpose - the player has control over his bow. He has never only existed to handhold.

Mackenzie does not have a single good line of dialogue from the foot...

Also, to criticise Ubisoft a bit, if they want more sales, perhaps they should have let their devs make games like Expedition 33. Instead, they had to leave the company to go off and make it.

Serge Hascoët, their prior Chief Creative Officer, was fired for allegations of sexual misconduct. It was a big mistake to allow him to enforce while he was there that most Ubisoft games must follow a similar design.

"Consumers are playing fewer games, playing them for longer" I don't care about current Ubisoft struggling but I do think this is part of why some people seem to get very little enjoyment out of games anymore.

Stuck in a rut putting long hours into GAAS games instead of fitting in time to play good single player games consistently.

Good if true. If they don't scale back, then the next Xbox will play all of their games. They need games unique to PlayStation consoles.

Plus due to anti-cheat, believe some big multiplayer games do not work at all on the Steam Deck.

People like to see competition. Battlefield this year. GTA next year.

Apparently in Black Ops 7 they've gotten rid of the engagement-oriented matchmaking in response to the competition from Battlefield to try to win some favour.

True. Although, it wasn't even 4 years. It was just over 3 years.
Nov 10, 2020 - Yakuza: Like A Dragon
January 26, 2024 - Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth

They're also making a new Virtua Fighter game. They're releasing a lot. I would like to see one more Judgement game though, personally. Great series.
