There are optimizations (visual downgrade) made to the Pro version that are not made to the X version in this update which is why the Pro got a much larger performance bump. They really tried to get to the 30fps target.
I think it's fair to say that this is probably not a coincidence when millions of dollars are on the line. A quarter of the PS5 stock are the Digital Editions. That's a lot of consumers who can't buy this game at all, and play it at 60fps (an eas...
Looks like they're prioritizing the PS4 version to try get it back on the store.
The fact that they've almost gotten the framerate up to a solid 30 on the PS4 Pro is a testament to how unfinished this game truly was. The developers were right that it needed another year or so.
@Thundercat77
These kinds of comments are hilariously dumb. The PS2 had full BC and was the console where Sony had the biggest market share by far. Full BC AND new exciting games was and still is a winning formula. It's not a binary thing where you can only have new games OR BC. You're lying to yourself when you makes these poorly thought out excuses.
Data has shown that most people with PS5s are playing a ton of PS4 games, and that's what I c...
@Palitera
No. Even though I'm a PS guy, I recognised that saying that the idea that people are only praising this game because it's on GamePass is stupid (people already liked it before that announcement), but that the US and UK gaming media is more partial to Xbox than the rest of the world (particularly true during the PS3/360 era).
It's just a nuanced, fair take. Is there anything I said that you actually disagree with or what? "but yo...
Can you provide an example in this video where this is an issue? Insomniac's per-object motion blur is really nice, and their camera motion blur isn't noticeable at all to me. I looked back at the footage, and I don't see the issue.
I feel sorry for people who feel unwell because of even just minor motion blur, but tbh man, I don't think this is something that would bother 99% of people. R&C 2016 was easily one of the most fun games to play on the PS4.
The PS5 would be able to run a native port of this at 120fps but only in the 1080p-1440p range. Borderlands 3 would be a good comparison here being a heavier, more open and less optimized game. The PS4 Pro was likely was able to run this in the 45-50fps range.
This is a stupid conspiracy theory, but the American and UK gaming media is certainly more partial to Xbox than the rest of the world.
Thousands of digital-only games are no longer going to be available for sale across the PS3, PSP and Vita. So, if anyone criticizes Sony for this, we're just taking jabs at them? You're being downright tribal. Sony brought this on themselves by not taking BC seriously when they used to be the best at it.
This is certainly newsworthy. This is about game availability, not ownership of the games that we've already bought as we can still download those.
There's plenty of digital-only games (indie games can't afford a large physical release, for example) and DLC that will be lost, and digital is the easiest way to get a game in the most amount of hands.

- Around 730 digital-only PS3 (PSN) games

That's objectively not what happened. I'm so tired of people coming up with insane excuses when I know we'd all love PS1-PS3 compatibility. C'mon guys.
The 360 had a $200 price advantage on the PS3 ($499 and $599 versus $299 and $399) and the PS2 GPU was marking up the price. Sony had to make a tough choice, also removing other parts of the console like the SD card slots on the front to try get a model down to $400.
Pretending that they go...
"until they made the excuse it was 'too expensive' and then just resold fans older titles via the storefront and in remasters."
I've left scathing comments criticizing Sony's current lack of commitment to BC but that's just revisionist history, lad. They were so committed to backwards compatibility back then that they included the PS2 GPU on an already expensive console and it was marking up the price. The 360's biggest advantage was that i...
Love this guy. Can't believe that he got away with saying "this has nothing to do with the EA shit with the lootboxes" and "all developers fuck up sometimes" on stage even though he was technically defending them. haha. "Fuck the Oscars"

EDIT:
It's great that DF pointed out that the marketing material for the Performance Mode on PS5 is inaccurate - it's 1440p, not a significantly lower 1080p. Very strange.
I actually love the darker look of the next gen versions.
The new approach to post-processing (different to even PC) gives a much higher contrast between bright and dark areas, and emphasizes godrays and the improved shadows. idk, It weirdly gives the game more personality. The originals had blood and were grittier than the remake so this feels a bit more accurate.
I always felt that the existing versions looked a bit washed out, tbh. Skip to 4:22 for som...
"doxxed days gone for being whitish"
That never happened:
"While I’ll admit that I initially rolled my eyes at yet another Gruff White Male Protagonist™ in a grim world - especially one with such a Gruff White Male Protagonist™-ey name as Deacon St. John - ************I ended up getting far more invested than I’d initially expected. I shouldn’t be surprised, I suppose************** - this is a first-party Sony title, and Bend is no stranger to writ...
Which begs the question: how the **** have Sony not been able to get this sorted by now. The PS5 should be powerful enough.
Lads, c'mon.
What you guys are doing is like saying that Mafia 3 got middling reviews (slightly lower than Days Gone) just because the main character is black, and not because it had obvious issues and was buggy as hell even though it did have strong points (main missions, story, soundtrack). It's baseless identity politics.
And what you're saying is factually not true. Want proof? The quote that you're getting offended over and have built...
Much more gameplay variety. The way they handle the tasks specific to each player is a brilliant evolution of the formula in A Way Out.
@PutbullMonster
It's on PS Now until May 31st - the day before the PS5 version releases. That's not a coincidence. haha
You do have to play it on the higher difficulties for the stealth to really shine in TLOU2
