Callisto Protocol aside, MS seems to be pushing devs to go for full 4K or as close as possible, and it causes issues maintaining 60fps.

There has to be some policy or encouragement because this issue has cropped up repeatedly for 2 years (in these cases, the Series X version typically has a higher res with framerate dips).

Digital Foundry theorized that's why the One X port of Modern Warfare 2 has such a bad framerate compared to PS4 Pro. They think i...

Currently averaging 81 on Metacritic. So far, it's the first positively reviewed NFS game in just under a decade.

The handling of the franchise over the last 10 years was so depressing. It made 343's poor handling of Halo seem amazing.

I'm really happy to see NFS in good hands again, and this is just the beginning. 🥲

I used to be obsessed with Halo in the 360 days ... until Halo 4. That era is the closest I will probably ever be to being platform agnostic and a LOT of it was down to Halo.

I played some of Halo Infinite's mp on my computer (free to play, may as well try). I don't like playing on PC so if it was great, I was going to grab a Series X - I want to play the Forza Horizon games anyway.

Halo is a really important franchise to me. The MCC being a buggy...

It's not exactly comparable but I do agree that 343 might be better suited to making something else.

Guerilla had not failed as 343 have though. Killzone 2 is deservedly one of the highest rated FPS games of all time and 3 was also very good. They are beloved games. Shadowfall was the only time they messed up a bit and it was rushed for the PS4 launch.

Doesn't this story prove that the reviewers are doing the opposite of improving corporate agendas though?

The thing that would have improved the corporate agenda would have been to post dishonest, more positive reviews to appease Krafton.

The Youtube game reviewers are posting similar reviews and some are actually more negative, e.g. SkillUp "I do not recommend: The Callisto Protocol"

What do you want?

lol. It's not their fault that the quality of Blackbox's games went to shit and Ghost Games' could hardly make 1 good game in a decade.

Criterion made 2 games in the series over a decade ago, and Hot Pursuit was amazing, and Most Wanted (2012) was actually a really fun racing game unlike most entries after it (it just shouldn't have been called Most Wanted).

Blackbox were putting out very low quality games, e.g. NFS: Undercover was terribl...

Yeah, it looks pretty good. While Rockstar can't even be bothered to just patch in 60fps for RDR2, we're getting this upgrade for free.

"Because they didn't"

MS were the first ones to pay for marketing and timed exclusivity on COD. They did it for map packs which was a big deal, and much worse than it is today.

It was a big problem not to be able to play any of the new content (zombies and multiplayer maps) at the same time. Today, the difference is mostly restricted to stuff like skins.

Activision likely accepted that deal because back then Xbox 360 was t...

Let's be honest, nothing is going to change because they know they can get away with it.

They clearly already have - they've sold 10m+ at full price (faster than Arceus) and in spite of all the issues, it still has decent reviews (76%). They'll probably gross $1b+ off this game, on top of all the money they made from Arceus.

People have been complaining about the handling of this franchise for years but it's a cash cow (they made billions ...

Skyrim is one of the best selling video games of all time. It sold more than any PS exclusive and almost all of the COD games - over 30 million copies.

This filing is obviously deceptive.

These statements are going to haunt MS. Jesus.

"Underdog Trillionaire" would be a good name for a documentary covering this acquisition.

They say that PlayStation as a publisher is "equivalent in size to Activision". It's hard to portray yourself as an underdog while trying to buy up a company equivalent to the entire size of your competitor ... with more acquisitions said to come after already becoming over 1.5 times PlayStation&#...

There's an 8 year gap between Fallout 4 and Starfield. Elder Scrolls VI in 5 years might be actually be a tad optimistic, tbh.

I suppose it depends on if they'll be making any more significant changes to the engine after Starfield.

The level of fanboyism in your comment is fairly extreme, lad.

Obviously, neither Xbox or Sony can replicate COD. That's why MS is spending $70b on the biggest tech deal in history. If it was feasible to replicate it otherwise, then obviously they wouldn't pay that money. it's also pretty obvious which company is closer to believing their "first party studios output isn’t enough to sustain a platform".

Even so, in reality, Xbox is al...

That's the problem. Xbox actually did used to have the talent to compete. They didn't need to buy up the major third party publishers with money from MS to starve their rivals of content and force people to buy an Xbox.

The leadership succeeded and were quite good for most of the 360 generation and for the OG Xbox. Currently lacking talent in some areas doesn't justify this Activision Blizzard acquisition. It's not anyone's fault but their own that they ...

@MrNinosan

"You are mentioning specific categories ..."

Lad, Best Picture of the year is the equivalent of GOTY. It's a 1:1 comparison - it's the same thing.

And like GOTY, the Best Picture (Nomadland) bled into other awards like Best Director and Best Actress.

I think you're a bit off base here.
- Nomadland won Best Picture last year and had a production budget of just $5m.
- Anthony Hopkins won Best Actor last year for The Father which had only cost $6m.

Oscar awards don't tend to go to biggest budget movies outside of technical aspects like special effects. This is such a well known trend that many people feels it's unfair and that the Oscars are out of touch.

They often go to mo...
