PS4 and Switch are killing it. The XB1 is doing alright.
Fair enough. I had never gotten into the Souls games prior to Bloodborne. I finally caved in and it was an incredible game. The PS4 version of Mafia 3 seems to have sold around as well as Bloodborne so it's not an entirely different situation or anything. I suppose I get your point though - Mafia 3 isn't a must buy for some so it's nice to get it for free. I'd say most would agree that there's a lot of more interesting PS4 games out there though.

Hmm. PS Plus has generally been a lot better than GwG this year (March being the standout with R&C and Bloodborne) but they've really been outclassed in this upcoming month. Kinda disappointed. MS has both a superior single player and a superior multiplayer game this month. Sony did only use to add games to the service if they got fairly good reviews and had higher standards (I believe 75+ metacritic although they didn't always follow it).

Steam needs to do some basic curation
Nah. Loot boxes shouldn't be in premium games. They suck compared to traditional progression systems and they're simply not fun. Stop defending them.
It's better but it's still fundamentally the same gameplay loop. To get to the good stuff you have to go through all the legacy content that was off-putting in the first place.
Yeah, it's insanely good.
I had a look at on PSNProfiles: https://psnprofiles.com/Jon...
You don't have a Hannah Montana platinum or a My Name Is Mayo platinum or any licensed movie game platinum. It seems like you've just stuck to games that you actually like. Respect.
I like trophies when they are well implemented or it's feasible to get most of them through my play-style (do all main missions, side missions and look around for collectibles). When i finish a game and I have 10-20% of the trophies, I'm not going to lie though - it is absolutely infuriating. Trophies are supposed to be a carrot on a stick but some developers take it as an opportunity to make you do chores while you're playing a video-game.

PS Plus has been better for the last few months but this month is absolutely fantastic for GwG. The backwards compatible games are icing on the top.
I think you might be right. However, RDR2's multiplayer is going to be sought after as well which will help sales a lot. I'm personally more excited for what we can only assume will be an incredible single player campaign but RDR1's multiplayer was actually great so hopefully they don't mess it up. I have my doubts about Call of Duty and Battlefield this year. I think Battlefield sales might be a few million lower at worst but COD is much more unpredictable. Battle royale with...
Aren't these numbers far better than the sales of the original Red Dead Redemption? 15.5M sales is actually really good. Very few AAA games can sell that much.
Ugh .... Rocket Pass. Please don't buy this guys or this is just going to become another standard way that consumers get ripped off. Loot boxes were bad enough. The fun of traditional progression systems is going to get gradually replaced in order to extract every last dime from gamers. We paid a premium price for Rocket League. This crap isn't acceptable.
I felt that the original was a tad bit overrated but I'm not sure that that's the reason for the poor performance of the sequel. I think that a lot of people probably just already got their fill with The New Order and The Old Blood might have been overkill in retrospect.
A fairly terrible list overall. The only excuse is that most of them are free-to-play games.
Prey also seems to have done better on consoles (PS4 physical sales alone) despite immersive sims having a strong association with the PC platform.
It's a shame because I played the beta and mechanically it was quite good, but winning and losing felt random and unrewarding.
Shut up Dolores.
It lacks content and the team racing is an odd choice. Arcade racers still have their place. Trackmania Turbo sold pretty well and the Forza Horizon games are outselling the sim Forza games because of their arcade influences. If not, games like Need For Speed wouldn't still sell really well despite suffering a steep decline in quality in recent years. This game was done on a lower budget than Motorstorm as well. Arcade racers may just need to adjust their price similarly to Ratchet & ...
And Mass Effect Andromeda of course.
