Hahaha, top marks for determination Chocoburger.
Respect to you for persevering with your play through of the series if you have gad such a rough time with these early titles.
This series represents something of a gap in my gaming 'career' as I have never played them, at the time the first game came out I had started playing PC. Having seen the gameplay I do wonder if the games will hold up if you don't have nostalgia for the games?
@Porkchop
With respect, whilst agree that the story is generally under-baked, I think there is still a lot to enjoy in respect of story, lore, fan service if you are fan of the series. I got so much enjoyment out of all of the bonkers story, audio recordings etc., let alone all of the Easter eggs and nods to previous games; this on top of what I found to be incredible gameplay made the title one of my fave games on PS4.
Completely subjective in my opinion. For me, it isnt good value but then, neither is GamePass. As I am someone who tends to buy their games in a physical format very close to or on release so outside of a few 'day and date' releases (if MS ever get their act together with their 1st party stuff), most of the GamePass library is stuff I either own or am not bothered about and the same will be true of Sony's service.
I can imagine that to a customer who is new to...
Having played through all 5 mainline games in the last 6 months or so, I have to say that the games have aged pretty badly in respect of their gameplay and story telling. I enjoyed the replays but I think that was as a result of strong nostalgia for 1 -3.
Not to defend MS here, but I reckon most devs would struggle to match Horizon's visuals 😀
@TheJackass
I guess Sifu, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West and Ghostwire Tokyo don't count then?
Of course, there is still Forespoken and God of War Ragnarock, Diofield Chronicle and Stray coming this year off the top of my head that i am personally excited for. Also, some pretty strong rumours of PSVR2 which is quite exciting.
@Sparky
"My guess is PS users were turned off the game due to knowing Xbox gamers were getting it for "free" while they had to pay $60."
Even if that were true (it isn't as commenters have pointed out below, it sold more on PS), it still demonstrates the main issue many have expressed concern about which is that service models end up devaluing video games across the piece.
Same here, I have tried twice and got a good 6 hours in but the gameplay just felt so dated to me personally.
I liked the story, the writing was super fun, I liked the art design (although the visuals from a technical aspect was super underwhelming I thought) but it just didn't play that well in my opinion.
But being in higher demand than last gen is not saying that much at all really.
Yup, can't help but think many 'industry experts' were well wide of the mark with their gloomy predictions for the Switch.
I think having a foot in the mobile and traditional console market is a huge boon for the Switch but in my opinion, the fact that Switch isn't competing with Sony and MS is a contributing factor in its success.
Plenty of people have both PS and MS consoles but the majority of consumers pick just one of these, so PlaySt...
MS need to give it a rest and create some new IPs in my opinion.
If you ever needed an example of the impact that a subscription service will have on the design choices in the development of a game, this is it
Someone's been listening to republican/conservative politicians, huh Bone?
Here in the UK, the public pay a particular tax that we all have deducted automatically called national insurance, which is supposed to pay for the NHS (national health service) and pensions.
Taxes on goods and services do not go towards the NHS or pensions, instead, the conservative government spend these public funds on granting massive governement contracts to their donors a...
Really want this on physical, hope we see a PS5 physical version soon.
Yet you will say nothing of the fact that every single MS exclusive is utterly rife with MTs despite your having already paid via a subscription service. For all the fuss around Gran Turismo (some deserved), I still wasn't bombarded by MT screens in GT in the same way I was in Forza.
I guess we will just disagree, because there is no doubt that every 1st party game from MS will be developed first and foremost, as a game for release on a subscription service, whether you'd admit it or not.
Completely disingenuous comment, this game was never produced to be released only on Gamepass, it was developed as a regular commercial release. It found its way onto GamePass because it didn't sell as well as SE had hoped (nothing ever sells well enough as far as SE are concerned mind you).
What Ryan stated was that Sony could not afford to continue to spend the kind of money they do on their 1st party games and then give them away on a subscription service. I am par...
Brilliant games all, but I think the AI was pretty rediculous as you progressed through the career, especially in respect of Pacific Rim. The games became almost unplayable difficult with some of the timetrial and elimination events.
