I actually own the XB1 and while not my primary gaming device I still think its a decent console, I am not 'butthurt' as you cool internet kids like to say.

Its funny, but when I looked at and digested this piece from Greenburg it was appearing on the official Xbox.news site, a site aimed at gamers.
Of course 'average Joe gamer' might not happen accross this article and I am sure that this piece isnt aimed at that demographic.
The more hardcore gamer, of which there are millions, does view this kind of press release however and that is who this press statement is aimed at.

If MS are going to post spin like this for public consumption then I think it's fair to discuss it.
As I have stated elsewhere, I am happy to see the game do well for Remedy's sake and I sincerely mean that. Once I have rinsed everything I can out of Dark Souls 3 I might pick it up.

Remastered games is a completely different story squire. I am more than happy to buy remasters of favourite titles but wouldn't necessarily play the original again.
For example, The Last of Us is my favourite game, ever! Having earned all the single player trophies over 4 or 5 play through I would be unlikely to have revisited that game in its PS3 state however, a remaster along with new trophies to earn was the only excuse I needed to jump back in.
I wish my DVD player played my VHS tapes.....
Backwards compatibility is a bonus but I have never met someone who would let it dictate which system they bought.
Ultimately the majority of people buy new consoles to experience new games first and foremost.
Could be that some people dont agree that the game looks interesting.
Personally I will play the game but I have to admit, the more gameplay I saw, the more generic I thought it looked.
I dont think its nearly as ground breaking as it first appeared personally. This is not a fanboy opinion, it is a personal opinion based on how the gameplay mechanics have been implemented in the game.
Good stuff, success breeds success and everyone should want Remedy to have the opportunity to keep on making cool games.
Will be interested to see what it sales figures are like as hitting number 1 in a dry spell doesnt tell us much.

The run of titles listed in my original post didn't do it, this lone title certainly wont particularly as it is clearly coming to PC too.

The race to the first review still occurs, the rushed playthrough has always happened and always will.
I have heard this discussed many times in games podcasts and videos. The reviewer cramming the playthrough in to as short a period as possible has always happened and still does even now where embargoes are the norm.
Embargos are simply a tool used by PR to control what message gets out to the consumer.
It's about time these embargoes go away anyway, they serve no purpose other than hide bad reviews from the consumer.
That was epic in its own right but I think Uncharted and Last of Us deliver on many levels instead of just the 'holy shit' spectacle.
Dont get me wrong, I totally love GoW3 too.

Best game I have ever played and it haunts me even now that I dont have a Platinum trophy but I just cannot get on with the online portion of the game as I dont like online games.
Cannot wait for this, gonna be a perfect palate cleanser when I need a change from Dark Souls. So many great games to enjoy at the moment, all leading up to the biggun in May :)
Looking at R&C I assume its a slightly shorter than average game given its cheaper price? The production values seem to be amazing to they havent scrimped there, I just wonder why it has the lower price point as its clearly not just a remaster.
Not at all, it was just determination and learning to play the game. Its not a gamers ability that stops them playing hard games, its their lack of patience as they want instant gratification from their games.
Dude, I am 41 years old and have all the systems from the last 3 console generations. While I do prefer Playstation I am pretty far from being a fanboy, i play and enjoy games on all formats, you throwing that term around make you the insecure one squire.
The whole point of MS wanting to shift more units is to improve their marketshare but if me saying that Gears 4 wont help to close the gap on PS4 is upsetting for you then fine, I still beleive that it wont affect the sales...
I never found the campaign of Bloodborne frustrating, it was enthralling however, beating some of the chalice bosses to get my platinum nearly broke me.
The last fight before you reach the Pthumerian Queen had be stumped for two whole days....the rush when he eventually snuffed it was worth all the frustration and I am still buzzing from my platinum trophy 4 days later!
Singularity did time manipulation mechanics years ago and much better than Quantum Break and wrapped it up in a pretty rocking story. Quantum Break is honestly not as original as people think.
HALO launched with a bunch of other popular titles in the same window like Forza and Tomb Raider and the XB1 still failed to make a dent in Sony's lead.
The idea that a new Gears title alone will make a difference is daft, the last title in the series was sub par and Gears 4' impact is set to be diluted further as it will release on PC for sure.
I guess everyone got carried away then, myself included :)
I suppose any news of remasters of Demons Souls or Dark Souls would get a bigger stage than a post from NamcoUK....what a disappointment.
