It's very simple. Sony has sold 3.7 million units, and a bunch are sitting in stores. Why? Because there aren't enough games, and the price is very high. Even though Resistance and Motorstorm are great titles, it takes a lot more than just two or three great titles to move units off of shelves, as we've seen with the Xbox 360.
It is important to note however that Playstation 3 is the only console that consistently keeps increasing in sales with each month, while sales of the Wi...
Who knows, maybe by June there'll be two!
TG Daily states: "During the same period, the Blu-ray version of Planet Earth ranked #2, with sales of about 5% less than the HD DVD set. Blu-ray, though, continues to hold the lead in market share, taking about 60% of all hi-def sales in the first week in May."
EliteGamer can spout all the lies he wants, because Blu-ray is still outselling HD-DVD in both movie and hardware sales every single week. By the way, ...
1). You have to keep in mind that the 360 suffered from massive shortages throughout February.
2). Then he said March, April, and now May and June? Wow, it was so hard to find in June 2006 that a million of them were sitting on store shelves. Right.
"Sony had an extra year to build up stock of their units". So you're saying they had warehouses stocked up with 4 million Playstation 3s just...lying around? And for an entire year? That's pretty impressive ...
to simply disable achievements for shared game saves, not disable the saves themselves. This would not only prevent 'achievement cheating' as Microsoft puts it, but would also fail to infuriate thousands of customers. Microsoft's paying the price for being so heavy-handed in their approach to the console market; it's no wonder few developers actually like how controlling they are of Xbox Live, such as Epic Games.
to give us Vista activation figures and not just 'licenses sold'. Not only are very few of the licenses being used in PCs, even more are being downgraded due to the higher popularity of XP. Just look at what Dell had to do.
and not only select exclusive members to be on the Killzone Beta (for the closed beta at least) and then allow people to buy into it (Open Beta) by packaging it with a released game -> Warhawk would be perfect.
I recently beat Liberation and play the original KZ from time to time (not as much as Halo 2, but enough), and I have to say that the team at Guerrilla Games definitely has the ability to reach their lofty goals. When it comes strictly to Single-player mode, my frien...
can't delete information from an account? Damn, looks like they're pulling an AOL on their customers.
one of the defining titles of this console generation. =]
once PS3 costs have settled down. It's supposed to have 8GB of flash memory, a cartridge-load UMD drive (just like the Gameboy), and be a lot slimmer/lighter. No word on an extra analog stick-> this would cause issues in that it would alienate older PSP users, so don't expect one until PSP 2.
Incognito is still a valuable developer, and for Sony to split ways just because of one title that had some trouble (but looks damn impressive) is just a little far-fetched. These guys still have a multitude of franchises to realize on the PS3: Downhill Domination, War of the Monsters, Twisted Metal, etc.
Thanks Dusty! Pissed off a lot of 360 fans, but whatever. I'm glad he fixed Predator's post.
Developers are embracing the Cell Architecture with open arms, and the ones willing to put in the effort are getting fantastic results. The specialized layout of the EIB bus within Cell (which connects all the cores on a 300GB/s connection) allows extremely fast data relays, and this is actually one of the strongest attributes of the processor.
"But there's so many cores already. How are developers going to deal with 36+ cores in the next version of Cell??" Really, th...
Not as good as the Nintendo Wii, but definitely better than the Xbox 360 when you compare time frames. I wonder how nervous Microsoft is considering Nintendo will overtake them this holiday season, and that Sony isn't far behind.
'procedurally synthesize' Players, Crowd members, Stadiums, and audio commentary. Haha, riiight. BTW, Cell does a much better job with Procedural functions than Xenon. Looks like you got smacked with MS Propoganda. =/
It not only costs more money to play on the 360, but you have to pay extra money to play it online? No wonder PC gamers giggle at the Xbox 360. BTW, I love how Shane failed to answer Croal's questions in any way, shape, or form.
"Shane, what's with the pricing difference?"
-"Well we have equal development costs as other publishers."-
"But, that doesn't explain the pricing difference."
-"Well, numerous titles have seen su...
The fact that they already looked into making a version of Home on the 360 shows that this is exactly how Microsoft operates. Seeing Shane state that MS has been trying to "build Second Life on Xbox Live" is pretty sad; even if they do build a counterpart to home, it'll be both disgraceful and inferior.
I guess no one reminded Shane that the Core SKU is dead, and that the Premium SKU might recieve a comparable fate now that the Elite SKU is available. For example, my ...
Sony's been working on this since the PS2 days. Good luck catching up dude. ^_~
Blu-ray totals surpassed HD-DVD totals about three months ago, and continues to sell at an average ratio of just under 3:1 every month. Even the IGN story that EliteGamer was nice enough to link states "70-percent of Q1 HD-movie sales were thanks to Blu-ray".
Of course, the HD-DVD association expects old titles like the Matrix Trilogy to boost sales, while Blu-ray is going to get this summer's blockbuster hits like Spiderman, Shrek, Transformers, etc, and they're goi...
and it's nearly identical to the concept art.
and yet this happens? Talk about embarrassing
