Especially since the public beta is going to be fairly soon after.
You should bring up Untold Legends too, 'cause that thing was horrendous. I don't know HOW Sony let that one out of the gates. It belongs on the PSP, not on its big bro. You should stick it to him! He's such a Sony lover, it's sick. Ok, true, he has an Xbox, but that's only one Microsoft console. Pbbbt.
Nice! =]
when switching between gameplay modes, but everything else is just off the charts. Not a single part of the environment was re-used, animations were never repeated, he reacted properly in every situation, etc. The water's pretty amazing as well.
By the time this game is finished, Sony will most likely put up a massive marketing campaign. In fact, SCE will probably spend more money on marketing this year than in their entire history. I wouldn't be surprised if we got commercial...
but that it doesn't look good enough to be a PS3 title in the first place. Should be a big 'DUHR' for these magazine editors.
cheats during games. A lot of them simply don't want their discs damaged by their 360s, or simply just want to pirated 360 titles in order to play legitimately with their fellow gamers. The high price tag of Xbox Live also breeds modding as well.
It almost seems like Microsoft is fighting a futile war, but and while it's partially their fault I don't blame them for trying to fight against it. They don't have the luxury that Sony has with hardware security (Cell has 3 levels of ...
but it's a decent try. I'm not sure if this is true for everyone, but apparently the PS3 demo kiosks in my area got a massive upgrade -> brand new advertising, new layouts, and playable demos for F1 Championship, GT:HD, Motorstorm (PSN version), Genji, NBA 08, Virtua Fighter, Ridge Racer, and Armored Core 4. There were a ton of videos as well.
BTW, I never got to play F1, but it's a really great title. Gorgeous, great camera work, and it's actually easier to control without ...
Sony winning the console war in one day with this event were slightly exaggerated, the future certainly looks very bright for Playstation fans. Expect the "Sony Just Won the Console War" statement to appear at E3 though, and with some shocking new titles to back it up.
but the system is well worth the cost in terms of high reliability, low heat/noise emissions, great customer service (including constant firmware updates), unsurpassed multimedia functionality, and sheer power for game titles. As we saw just this week, a simple press event for games held by Sony actually resulted in more Playstation 3 units being sold; what this hints at is that what's holding back popularity of the system is not price, but rather a large library of quality software.

The word "customization" isn't even in my post, so how could I possibly say anything bad about that? Everyone loves customization, and Polyphony knows this. As for the physics calculations, no one knows how fast GT:HD does it, or how fast Gran Turismo 5 does it.
The whole "Calculates 360 times a second" seems like a slight marketing ploy considering that millions of things are calculated each second during games. Maybe Polyphony will respond with a marketing...
Now all that's left to show is...ok, scratch that. There are even bigger titles left to reveal. Sony's going to end up selling a LOT of consoles this year, based off the amazing blockbusters like Lair, HS, Uncharted, and Ratchet. I actually have a lot more faith in Killzone and Eight Days after seeing all this.
Forza's weak graphics by saying it's better at something intangible (or at least harder to compare). I've heard the same excuse for Mass Effect, Too Human, and Halo 3. As soon as we started seeing PS3 destroy the 360 in the graphics arena, physics became the new excuse. Though...PS3 was winning there too, so the most recent excuse is "superior gameplay".
360 titles don't win in graphics, physics, or AI, but...it's not supposed to be about any of those departments. It'...

I'll take Lair, Uncharted, and Heavenly Sword over this, thank you very much. =P
both GT:HD and Forza fail miserably. The fact that Turn 10 actually tried 'realistic damage' and ended up resorting to simple bumper deformation and "cracked glass textures" is just sad though. It's most likely not their fault though since it's a limitation of the 360's CPU, and not necessarily their talent.
But in terms of actual graphics, GT:HD wins by a long shot. Higher polygon counts, higher-res textures, lighting that looks a lot more natural, etc, it's no compa...
- - yeah, that's all I can say. =]
Pain looks really intriguing too! By the way, the fly-through sequence in Ratchet really shows off what Cell is capable of. And the animation in Heavenly Sword is just...remarkable. I love how the physics engine enhances the animation, which enhances everything else. (though, I think whoever did the audio for the "Keeping Lookout" video didn't match it up properly)
Uncharted definitely looks like a system seller. Something about the characters just makes them comple...
This game was already impressive, but now it's just wild. This will definitely be a system seller!
Not only are the textures at a higher resolution, other things such as Ambient Occlusion (GPU functions) aren't running on the 360. Even snow imprints are just textures in the 360 version, while the PC version has physical footprints in the snow.
While some prefer to defend the 360 console by stating that the developers had more time to add features and programming to the PC version, that still doesn't explain why the 360 version shouldn't look better. Triple-core vs. Single o...
Microsoft only states "Sold to Retail" or "Licenses sold."
Sony on the other hand simply tells us how many they've shipped and, unlike Microsoft, don't feel the need to decieve consumers nor investors by portraying shipment figures as sales figures.
That's pretty damn sweet. There are quite a few PS3 devs who are waiting for the 75 and 100 GB discs at the moment (Ted Price even brought it up). The special edition of Stranglehold also presents a cool bonus, which is having both the game and the Hi-def version of Hard Boiled on the same disc. I'm actually hoping more and more 3rd party developers take advantage of Blu-ray in similar ways.
