I'm kind of looking forward to this game despite some peoples thoughts. The idea of stripping Lara's character down should deepen the experience, something which needed to happen given the direction the franchise was heading!

@DiRty As mentioned above they did the same with the PS2.
You see, people know that Sony will continue to support their previous console as they have and are for the PS2 (which is still moving hardware). If they release a cheaper slimmer version now it would sell to people wanting a spare or additional console, those moving from PS2 (of which there are millions) and single console owners wanting to see what the PS3 has to offer!

@stephmhishot Well I believe its a distinct possibility and it could, in theory, counter any possible loss in sales from a next gen announcement, if it's priced right.
Bundle would be good but couldn't include too much so as to not make it bargin basement. Even if in reality the bundle is a steal, if its too much people just won't buy it.

I think a new slim would be Sony's splash for this gen as the final slim PS2 was for the last gen. If circa $140 it would pick up the people who still have PS2's and whilst you might not believe it there are lots of them!
I can play games on my phone with a ppi of 342 but it doesn't make it any better than playing them on my Tablet or my Moniter or my HDTV....
But I have no doubt the the general public at large will suck it up as they do the iPhone and iPad (year on year)... a very sad state of affairs imo! Advertising vs Actual specs.
When gamers become fixated on who "wins" this gen, next gen and who is 1st, 2nd, 3rd or what ever...they cease being gamers and represent only themselves and the opinionated and misdirected gaming brand fanatics.

Cumulatively MS haven't sold in two generations what Sony sold in their first generation (which wasn't even their most successful). So why don’t we all stop playing figures and start playing games, after all...

Since 'generation' has no set period apart from respects to each manufacturer separately... how about we count all consoles sold to date, including handhelds. I wonder where MS would come in that calculation then?!?..

As for XGC if you wanna talk to your mates (real life ones) get off your arse and go meet them for real... If you'd rather chat online than play your game then you shouldn't be a gamer and you should get out a bit more and see what the real world has to offer!
And I appreciate that there are games XGC is useful but 90% of the time that's not what it's used for... it's like people these days have a phobia of face-to-face contact!!
@vulcanproject Does that mean you are all for 4k movies and games as the next step forward? Or do you think that there is a point where resolution would be beyond what the human eye can easily notice (if at a reasonable distance from screen)?
Many PC gamers will see resolution from a different perspective if they are used to gaming at close range to a monitor as differences are more easily noticeable, the same cannot be said for people gaming on a large screen from beyond 5ft...
I agree with some of what you said and re Gaikai I wouldn't be surprised that if Sony did come to any agreement with them it would be related to their TV business as with Samsung, hence it was not discussed at E3!
Having re-watched the Black Ops 2 footage again last night I find it hard to believe that it can look that bad when playing. In all seriousness it barely looked this gen let alone next gen!
I'm not fan of the genre particularly but I hope it plays better than it looked in the footage I saw, maybe it looked better 1st hand at E3.

They, as well as Sony, do not want people to stop buying their current console waiting instead for the next version. This could mean that they will in fact look to release a console in 2013 but that they are waiting for a first move from Sony who are in turn most likely waiting to see the public reaction to the WiiU..

I have no doubt that for that for major releases where dedicated to WiiU only (no WiiU Pad) it would come out on top.. but by how much, that is the question.
It is of course tremendously powerful compared to its predecessor but I'm not so sure about compared to PS3 / 360.
Here in the UK people rushing out and buying the largest HDTV's they could find happened years ago.. in fact I know more people now with 3DTV's than I do people who don't own HDTV's!! :O
Agreed, but think that TGS will probably be their focus for Vita as they want to ensure that they win over the home grounds first!

God, I don't know what people expect.. no Sony don't bother with stability so the games we want to play play better or implement background groundwork for future games, instead give us a Youtube app that so we can spend our time on our gaming device watching videos we could quite easily watch on our phones or TVs or Tablets or computers!!!!
