Maybe it will look better than the current 'slim' and most probably be cheaper to manufacture. Now why would Sony want to go and do that!

As for 'its not backwards compatibility'.. maybe not, but for me personally if they implimented 'true' backwards compatibility tomorrow it'd cost me close to 400 of our fine British pounds to buy all my old collections back.
So if they make old PS1 / PS2 games free to stream for PS+ subscribers then I must say it would make my day, week, month, year, gen!

@SilentNegotiator Please explain how I can literally put a PS1/PS2 disc in my PC and/or via a direct rip of same, play the game on my PC at huge resolutions via an emulator even with all the overheads there are on a PC?
This is of course very easily possile with Gaikai running emulators on their server!
Naitive.. maybe not, but I'm hard pressed to see a difference when playing a PS1/2 game running at 1080p.

I hope your not disagreeing that when CD's, DVD's etc first came about people didn't say they would never replace Tapes, VHS, if so you are obviously not old enough to remember.
Vinyl, Tapes, CD's, DVD's, Blu-Ray are mediums for music and video as a game console is in a way a medium for delivering games.
Don't take my earlier comment to mean I think game streaming is where it's at. Rather that I imagine consoles won't remain in the 'form' they are today, in the same way that PC's are evolving > PC, Laptop, Netbook, Tablet...
Thus I agree with what your saying.
VHS, Vinyl, Tapes etc etc etc aren't going anywhere!!
In my humble opinion both PC's and Consoles will, in the not-too-distant future, no longer be!.. at least not in the guise we recognise them today.

Its not to bad and I think it will improve over time.
If you read the DF write up and watch the video there are moments where Bulletstorm on an ADSL line (40 miles from nearest server) achived the same latency as a 360 playing the game locally.

I can't disagree as we are all attracted to different types and genres of games.
For me (and I didn't jump in to this gen early) I couldn't justify a 360 even though there were perhaps 3 or 4 games that really piqued my interest, the most notable being Fable and Gears, though the former appears to have gone downhill since then.
I felt that the PS3 had a wider variety of games that appealed to me, on top of that I knew I was going to buy a BD playe...

The only way we will really know is when we see the results with our own eyes.
As we should all know by know PC GPU results don't equal Console GPU results so you can't compare that way, plus a dev console does not always equal consumer console.
There should be no doubt that the WiiU should be above and beyond current gen consoles… the proof however… will be in the pudding!

It does depend on the game though! e.g. I loved Pack Man / Munch Man, Tetris and various puzzel games and the like and story wasn't important there.

Same here.. I'm on a 10mb Virgin cable connection and it ran pretty much perfectly and it was a racing game I tried so I think I would have noticed any really bad latency!
It does run well I must admit I was impressed when I tried it recently especially having been a streaming sceptic..
Sony haven't bought the 'Content Partners' they will just remain partners depending on what the individual contracts were.
It's quite funny really because if Sony effected Gaikai on PS3 tommorrow (whether its ever intended to go to PS3 remains to be seen) then PS3 owners could be playing Alan Wake and the like on their PS3 lol <...
I realy must remember to find myself some copies of Valkeria Chronicles and Folklore, two games which are right up my street but which I am sad to say I have so far neglected! :/
