Taking a look at the top 50, it's pretty clear that there is simply no new titles over there that appeal to the Japanese gamers. Considering CoD4 - a western game - has been the top-selling PS3 game over there for a few weeks now, that's pretty indicative of the current state of things.
I'm a PS3-only gamer, but that is quite possibly the most flawed logic I have ever heard. Install base and attach rate have no relevance to one another. Compared to the PS3, the 360 is selling much better in terms of software. The PS3's s.w. sales are abysmal right now. PS3 sold just over one game per console, while 360 sold more than 4.
Agreed. Assuming FFXIII doesn't get released, White Knight Story will most likely be the best RPG of the year.
Wow, once again PS3 software is brutal.. come on Japan! Should see a fairly big jump next week with Disgaea 3 and DMC4 though.
In terms of picture you won't see much of a difference, but blu-ray has the adequate space needed for uncompressed audio, while HD-DVD doesn't. Whether or not you have a sound system capable of outputting it though is another story.
Plus blu-ray just has so much more content. You'd be missing out on 70% of films by going to HD-DVD.
If you read the article you would know that the PS3 and 360 add-on are not included in this, and it is sales of JUST standalones.
In Canada they've been doing these sort of bundles for months now. Nothing new.
Without a doubt this is a great game, but please, comments like "it was made for the Wii" are outrageous. This game didn't sell on the PS2, despite its huge hardcore gamer base. Recent history has proven that the Wii demographic isn't looking for games like this.
I meant a real Final Fantasy game. A numbered series entry. S-E is pouring out so many offshoots of the series these days it's hard to keep track, and I don't really consider them to be of the same group of core FF games, though they may share the name.
I didn't use the co-op in IX at all. Turn-based RPGs just aren't made to support the co-op experience. I'd rather get to play through the whole game myself, rather than watch someone else play, and then make a few decisions i...
While I would never want it in a numbered entry into the Final Fantasy series, you are very right in saying that Secret of Mana is the ONLY JRPG that ever successfully implemented a co-op system, and I think that was part of its charm. When I think of further entries into the Mana series, in my head they all should be co-op and follow the same formula set out by SoM, but alas that is never the case. Forget all these FF remakes, give me a proper Secret of Mana remake!
Co-op in a Final Fantasy game? Who titled this thread? In a world where developers are tacking on more and more useless online/multiplayer elements, Square-Enix's single-player games are still outshining everything on the market. To even consider that they'd put co-op into this game is outrageous.
While without a doubt this game was amazing, it sold poorly on the PS2 (despite a HUGE userbase), and in all honesty I can't see it doing any better on the Wii. It just doesn't fit the Wii demographic.
Can't be argued that Sony has the best-looking line-up for this year. Personally, I could do without Home, but I think it'll be one of those things that I'll use occasionally cause it's free anyways.
Don't get me wrong, it'd be VERY cool the first couple times, but after that... I'll stick with my Dualshock3 :)
People complain all the time about how gimmicky the Wiimote is... and then they praise this?
While I would of course prefer a ground-up remake, if this is true it'd make for the first (and only?) PSN title I purchase. Hopefully those "graphical touches" make the game at least bearable to play on the PS3: redo the character models, upgrade the environments a bit, nothing too durastic.
Just because some of us can't afford all three systems doesn't make us any less of a 'true gamer' ;)
This should be the #1 most anticipated title!
Is this being released via PS Network as well, or strictly retail?
While I won't be buying this game, I don't see where the problem of a mandatory single-installation lies. If it makes the game run significantly smoother, with few-to-no load times, than I'm all for it. I'm not so socially inept that for 20 odd minutes I have absolutely nothing to do except whine.
