First, I'm going to disagree with the comment about the 360 add-on becoming a paperweight if the format loses. I will never understand that argument. The drive won't just suddenly explode if HD-DVD loses. All the current releases will still play.
This is a good move by Toshiba, as they probably know they have to start moving hardware. But it may be futile. Right now they just don't have the titles available for the majority of people to buy them.
This could be cool... sort of expanding the 'mythology' of Kingdom Hearts. As long as KH3 - when it is released - follows the basic storyline of the other two I'll be fine.
If the arrival of 50 teraflop drives means the end of Blu-Ray, I'm sure it will live a long life :P
This movie is phenomenal, but I guess it requires you have a certain appreciation for the techniques that filmmakers use, along with the visuals and story. I forgot it was Universal though. Booooo on it not coming to Blu-Ray.
Not sure who it was, but I know how that feels. I'm pro-Sony, but when I say good things about the 360, Sony fans take away my bubbles :P. Anyways, you're a good poster, so you can have a bubble back.
I'll pick up this game eventually when it comes down in price a bit. I personally am not a big fan of the GTA games (probably the only one) and play them strictly to use codes and get a tank, and see how many cops I can get following me. Or fly around town in the sweet Lamborghini wannabe cars :P . The storyline does absolutely nothing for me, but the gameplay is super fun.
If that display stand wasn't crazy expensive (which I'm sure it will be) I would get it for my basement, cause it's an easy solution to the surround sound thing, and I don't have a lot of room so it is a nice little package.
It takes 30 seconds to make another account. Don't let this stop you from playing!
"IF BR fails so dose the PS3"
I never understood that argument. Though it doesn't look like BD is going anywhere, if somehow it fails, do the PS3s just spontaneously combust, or what? They should be telling their customers about this! :P
I must say, for the most part I disagree. I hate when I spend so much money towards something that is top-of-the-line, and the very next day it seems obsolete :P. Technology moves too fast for me. I'm still enjoying my PS2 :).
This is awesome news. It has been a good couple of days for Sony. Finally! :P
When HD-DVD's and Blu-Ray discs begin to be filled up, than maybe these will come to fruition. But until then... like it was said, who could possibly need that much space right now? 10-15 years in the future? Maybe, but not now. Production costs alone would be ridiculous.
For some reason, most of the people who aren't happy are the one's whom this article has no real effect on at all (PS owners).
"With EA's backing, however, PS3 owners shouldn't worry"
Needless to say, I'm worried.
I can't imagine them doing 'just a HDD upgrade' this early on, and releasing a new model strictly for that purpose. If this has any basis in truth, I hope it is the 65nm cell unit.
I expect hardware sales will drop - obviously, because they will never stay as high as they are launch weekend. But come April and May, as more and more big-name titles begin to see release, I expect the sales to start climbing again. Software is another story. Maybe a slight decrease in sales after launch weekend, but otherwise the games should enjoy a fairly steady selling rate.
Typically speaking, I agree with them. The cast they chose all bear a decent resemblance to their characters.
Except let's hope this format war gets figured out soon. One of Sony's biggest PS titles, available exclusively on HD-DVD? Boo.
You make it seem like I don't like the PS brand :'(!!! Haha, I love PlayStation, and have loved it since it was first released. Before the PS3 was ever announced, I knew I'd get one. They offer everything that I want from a console.
But I will be the first in line to say that Microsoft is doing well. They have a great online service (albiet one you have to pay for), they are expanding their game line-up away from the western market, and they are now offering the option to...
These 'big spenders' will buy an xBox because that is the system that most appeals to them. Yes, for $120 you get the top-end PS3, but regardless, the 360 has exclusives that the PS3 will never have, and that is selling point enough for some. Many on here download movies, tv shows, etc. so the larger hard drive is a big plus as well.
I'm a PS user from the start, and that isn't going to change since they provide what I personally want, and I can only afford one console to beg...
I'm actually hoping for a non-May release. Financially, I think it would be a dumb move on Sony's part. Lair and Heavenly Sword will take away each other's sales if they are released too close together.
