Sony needs this game in a big way. Not to save themselves but to take back their top spot. Best part is this is just one of many great games coming this year for the gorgeous black box that is PS3.
you just gave a lot of credit to pirates. Take all their sales? C'mon man. That would take a phenominal amount of piracy. Furthermore, I live in NYC (where you can get anything you want at any time) and I've yet to see Transformers being sold on blu-ray. And even if it were here that's just a fraction of potential sales. Transformers on blu-ray will sell just fine even if it has to deal with a little piracy. There is no such thing as piracy taking all the sales.
We saw this with the Iphone (a price drop shortly thereafter)

PS3 (599.99 for 60gb at launch)
and now this. I don't feel sorry for them. If this gen taught me anything it's that you wait a year to get a console. Plently of games will be out and potential hardware problems should be solved.
Just got a 160gb HDD in anticipation of this. Can't wait to cruise around liberty city listening to all the music on my PS3. But we all know XmB was coming. I figure it'll be out when Home drops.

I'm not saying the PS3 has a loud fan. I was saying that assuming what this article says is true, you still have a choice of a loud fan or RROD.

Umm...no. That's not going to happen. Most people who are looking to buy GTA IV will know enough to know it's no longer exclusive to PS3. In fact, that news is so old I'd argue that almost everyone looking to buy the game knows it's out for 360.

it will just cruise. It's in the latter stage of it's life. It gave the best it could and that's usually when a system is ready to go into retirement. Like the PS2. Not done but not exactly showing you anything new.

Different matter. It's possible. If MS keeps shooting themselves in the foot and if Live keeps acting up (lol@ anyone for paying for live btw), then yes, PS3 will be the system to own and surpass MS. Hopefully MS bows out of the console business altogether. They abandoned the original Xbox, put out faulty hardware in an attempt to beat Sony, charge consumers to play online (boooo and lol@anyone for paying for live again) and they...amazingly enough...failed to made a hdd standard.

BTW, I don't mind the PS3's fan noise, I do mind the heat generated by the system. My room must rise to by 9 degrees whenever I have the system on for more than an hour. I just open a window and in the winter it's better than having the heat on.
but some of those are really up in the air, no? Heavy Rain? I mean, do we know for sure if this game is coming? Don't get me wrong, I'm really excited for '08. Warner Bros going exclusive is just an added bonus.
360 owners, sell your system and cut your losses. 07 was a great year. A phenomenal year. But 08 is going to be even better on PS3. Get as much for 360 while you still can before MS licenses the technology out and we start seeing 360s made by a myriad of companies.
Enough with all the trailers. Show the game and show what it looks like on both consoles separately.
I hope you're right. I know from firsthand experience that most of my friends that are 360 owners are because they were able to get the system for less than a PS3. The common answer when I say "why not PS3?" is "I couldn't afford it".

a smart consumer? Are you kidding? Yes a "smart consumer" would do that research but most consumers are not "smart" in the typical sense of the word. They do not do that sort of research. You know how I know? I bet a good number of 360 buyers didn't know about the potential for RROD. Heck, I still see people that bought 40 gb PS3s complaining about no backwards compatiablity. 1) in game XMB. I want to add friends while in game and I want to know I can listen to the library of music while playing GTA IV.
2) enough with the install nonsense. Get it so it does it automatically and preferably does it in the background.
3) Turn off the file preview. I have some pictures of Vida Guerero that I'd rather my GF didn't see. With the friggin file preview I can't hide them if I wanted too.
