This generation is terrible with games being rushed out buggy, broken, and incomplete. Anyone without their console constantly connected to the internet will be SOL.
Now we are paying money to become their beta testers.
Why would they do that? Because the game has a choppy framerate. If they took out graphics effects like lighting it could make the game run smoother. So instead of the hard work of optimizing code, cutting out effects would be the easy way to gain frame rate.
Hopefully the bugs, glitches and bad performance won't be on the same scale either.
That is what you get for buying digital. Now you are stuck with it. At least you could have ditched it for a little cash if physical.
Rushed it out to please shareholders.
I feel for anyone without internet in this now internet required console generation. Release broken/incomplete game on disc, finish/fix later and you can't even back up these patches. Terrible.
Glad I passed on this crap especially with them saying they kept all versions the same to avoid debates and stuff. I avoided this game and stuff...
It also only runs in 720p. It was 900p on PS4.
Still I expected the WiiU to look worse with it's weak hardware.
Might as well be with no retail release and download only. That is the indie model. Not everyone likes DRM filled download games that you can't sell trade lend etc and that will expire once taken down from the servers.
Not sure what is so breathtaking either, looks like rather simplistic graphics with empty environments.
@Dasteru
It isn't a wider FOV, look at the mini map. You are closer to the wall in the PS4 version.
That said I wouldn't trust screen grabs for contrast etc. especially since they can't seem to take them at the same exact angle either.
So meh, it is a straight port across consoles.
It is shit because it runs like shit. The xbone version is just slightly less smelly, but still stinks .
That is a copout and plain BS. This wasn't as bad on the xbox 360 even. Not every game needed a day one patch, some needed none. Take Halo as an example, there weren't all kinds of patches required on the 360. But now the exact same games rezzed up on the X1 need gigs of patches?
Games in the old days were delayed more too. The reason is because they took the time to test and fix things. Now as long as the game gets past the title screen and the character moves ...
Complete package? They deliver an incomplete package then fix later. The game bought on disc is broken and incomplete not a complete package.
No, before consoles would have finished games on day one. They knew they had to actually test and finish a game before release.
These patches aren't a few minor fixes they are massive multi GB chunks, like a big part of the game. They are abusing this because they can. They don't care if you don't have ...
Bull.
Patches were not so abused and annoying last gen as they are now. Before that they didn't exist as they couldn't use the internet as a crutch. They actually had to do things such as testing and QC. Last gen *some* games got patched later after users reported glitches. Now there are patches BEFORE anyone actually buys the game and almost EVERY game has patches, BIG ones.
More complex? Nonsense. Most of the current gen games are basically last...
I hate how you can see enemies through things. That plus the "radar" and with all of the HUD stuff the game holds your hand. Man they really dumb games down for casuals these days.
Bad comparison. The first pic compares a menu with a blur effect overlay to one without menu overlay.
All of the rest show slightly different scenes with different lighting direction etc. Even the similar ones show a slightly different camera angle with different things going on. To do it right you need the same angle with the same lighting at the same time of day etc. It looks like they picked the angles to be a bit overdramatic in pointing out the downgrade.
<...
One has a menu overlaying it with a blur effect the other does not.
As a matter of fact none of these show the exact same scene at the same time of day/lighting direction etc. Bad comparison.
That said the bullshots were likely taken off of a high end PC, not the PS4.
A delay will be ok if instead of the now common "5 GB day one patch" it will be complete and work on day one with no patch. It would be nice to have the working version on the disc for a change.
In this case PS4 being at parity with xbone would be an improvement as it is a bit smoother. This game is a mess. It seems games are getting rushed out faster and faster and are getting buggier and buggier. Soon they will release a disc with a title screen and a cutscene then require you to download the whole game as a "patch".
None of these things would stick around if people didn't support it. Season passes are now commonplace because people buy them. Same with day one DLC and microtransactions. Also people preorder games and put up with buggy rushed out unfinished games that require gigs of patches later. Some say these things are "inevitable" and "here to stay". Microsoft's X1 and their always on DRM, and required kinect was inevitable too, until we voted with out wallets and sys...
I think dragons should be there somewhere. They wouldn't be part of the main story like Skyrim but I think it would be nice to have them. I remember the feeling in Skyrim when you heard them in the distance. You were scrambling to get in a good position to either fight or hide. The fights were great and when you got swarmed by a couple at once things got interesting. This was much better than those annoying gates in Oblivion. I fear they my go back to something like that.
The free games and DLC aren't the answer either. What if you already have the games they are offering for compensation or don't want any of them? You can't even trade them in as I bet they only offer DRM loaded digital download versions locked to only your console. That is a way to give you something but not really give you anything. They re-arrange some magnetic material on your HDD for you but give nothing tangible.
No, they should give a refund. Send them ...
