Yeah Ryse, that 900p 15 fps chop-fest.
That really shows up UC4...
Well low res textures kill immersion. Graphics add to the believability of the game. Seeing low res textures just brings it down a notch.
The game would look last-gen if it had to be 60 FPS. You would need to render twice the number of frames per second so the graphics would take a huge hit in lighting, effects, shadows etc. All of those things are what makes this game look good. Strip all of that down and you would lose all of the mood, immersion, and atmosphere.
1080p X 30 is still less of a load and less pixels to render than 900p x 60.
Actually both consoles could hit 1080p @60 FPS in every singe game. The thing is since you would need to render frames TWICE as fast with 60 FPS the graphics would have to be downgraded pretty much to the point where it would not look nearly as good.
Everything is a tradeoff as the hardware is not infinite, so if the dev is striving for a certain look decisions must be made.
I wonder how many things will get downgraded to get the better performance? It is not beyond them just like how they disabled god rays in FC4 for the PS4.
Yeah what if MS responds by making Fallout 4 or the next Elder Scrolls game a permanent PC/Xbone exclusive? MS and Bethesda DO have a good partnership so that is not impossible. MS also basically has infinite money (they could throw 2.5 billion at Minecraft dev on a lark so...) they could almost do anything, Sony can't. A third party bidding war wouldn't end well for anyone not gaming on MS OSs.
Why? Fanboys. They still think that DX12 and the cloud is going to make up for GPU hardware with less CUs, ROPs, shaders, etc.
True but it looks like MS is throwing their financial weight around in the dev world to insure "X1 has the same quality experience and graphical quality as other platforms". That would be fine but for the fact that the xbone doesn't have the same quality GPU hardware as other platforms and is at the bottom of the heap this gen for that. As a result xbone would always be a bit less in the graphics dept if all platforms were taken advantage of. Any other result and parity is th...
@Mr Pumblechook
"the claim will be that the XBO version was upgraded to match PS4, and deny that PS4 was downgraded to match XBO."
And of course we all know for that to be true they would have also had to magically upgrade the xbone GPU to match PS4 as well.
If that was true and the xbone version with weaker GPU could be "upgraded to match PS4" then I suppose the PS4 could magically be "upgraded to match the PC"...
Horrible? It wasn't that bad. I beat it and enjoyed it. It wasn't the best game ever but it was a launch title and I thought it showed off the system well too. It is still the only PS4 game I think that has volumetric god rays.
I am glad they were delayed. Having them making the games more stable with more dev time is better than getting a buggy mess sooner like AC:Parity or DriveFlub.
Pre-rendered graphics always look insane, they are also known as "movies". If we want movies just watch a Blu-ray. I don't get publishers showing movies and not gameplay, are we supposed to be impressed?
A "more open" pre-rendered cutscene?
There was no gameplay there, that is as closed as you can get as the joystick has zero effect.
"if it's not going to work at launch then the vision just needs to be scaled back."
No, they just need to TEST the games better and when they find bugs DELAY and FIX them. If a feature isn't ready (like DriveFlub weather) then delay the game until it is ready.
Day one patches are proof they they knowingly release broken games. It takes more time to find the bugs, debug the code, write the fix, then test the fix than it does for a game to b...
People bitch when a game is delayed, then bitch again if it is released on time full of bugs.
We need to pick a scenario and stay with it. I would rather have a game delayed and work and be complete than rushed out broken/incomplete. DriveFlub for example should have been delayed agin and not released until the online worked AND the weather was finished and ON the DISC. Remember, those patches won't be online forever. If you want to come back to a game a few years fro...
More bandwagon jumping to the whole online social media craze. Hope they don't ruin the SP part although I never got into RDR much. I played it allot of the way through and just quit. Honestly the controls were crap. Many times missions/events would fail just because of the controls. Go into a house to save someone and the wonky camera was stuck in a wall or doorframe and "Mission failed!". Of course that could be helped with a first person option...
Sorry but I ain't buyin'. It has DRM, a massive day one patch, and lots of microtransactions. Also some of the horses were cut from the disc just for the damn season pass.
Also the rumors were false about Barbie being nude and having a first person mode.
DX12 ain't gonna upgrade that weak GPU and mobile CPU bud. You will be lucky if it ekes out 1080p. Keep dreaming on the "bye bye PS4" though. Hope springs eternal especially for fanboys.
@XanderZane
Wow H5 is amazing and no DX12? It will run at 4K and 120 FPS with DX 12. MS is amazing being able to turn a weaksauce GPU into a Titan with software. I can't wait until the powah is unlocked! Dat secret sauce! PS4 is Doooooomed.
There better not be any "day one patches" with this then. Due to the delays I expect this will not be a buggy mess.
