My TV is 1080p native not 900p. Many x1 games still run at only 900p with lowered graphics fidelity such as lighting, foliage, etc. due to it's weaker GPU.
I prefer the better looking multiplatform games. That is one excuse.
@star_lancer
When they removed Kinect the price was $399 not $349. They then CUT the price to $349 with a bunch of free games for the holidays then briefly raised it back to $399 after the holidays. When they did sales tanked so they brought it permanently to $349.
No, PSnow isn't as good as local native games. Obvious reasons, Cost, always online requirement, input lag, downgraded visuals due to bandwidth.
Of course the X1 BC isn't real BC either. If it was you would just put in a 360 disc and play it, no internet connection required. Instead this "BC" is just them recompiling games for the X1, then letting you download those if you have it. It is good and better than what Sony has but not true BC.
1) They could have done what MS did and shown more of games in development like UC4 etc. 2) Resting on laurels is the biggest mistake one can make. As you say "they (MS) most definitely will gain momentum from this event" which mean Sony blew it. Isn't the idea of competing to compete? Why let the competition gain on you by intentionally taking a dive? Would a football team walk off of the field for a few plays and let the opponent score a few free touchdowns to let them ...
The same except that many times the PS4 version runs at higher resolution. Most of the time it is 1080p on PS4 vs 900p on Xbox.
I prefer the higher resolution versions.
They are weak because more power costs more money. If they were made more powerful and cost $600.00 everyone would complain they are too expensive. You can't have everything, it just doesn't work that way.
All games could be 1080p if they cut enough effects elsewhere. It is easy for a dev to just start cutting until they get to 1080p.
@vikingland1
Unfortunately what he explained is *wrong* though. Upscaling is NOT the same as native resolution. 900P stretched out to fill a 1080p TV is not the same as 1080p rendered at 1:1 native. What he doesn't seem to understand is that stretching doesn't magically add detail and resolution from nowhere, it just keeps you from having a big border on your screen, but does add ARTIFACTS such as pixilation, blur and image softness.
Upscaled image...
@Death
Stop spreading that nonsense that the upscaler makes all games magically as sharp as true native 1080p resolution, it doesn't. If you upscale a SNES game it doesn't magically look as sharp as a true 1080p game. All the upscalers do is make the lower than native game fit the screen so that you don't have a big black border around the screen. It stretches, and then adds a blur filter to attempt to smooth the resulting pixelation. There are many artifact...
I would choose none of those. I would want external hard drive support.
What is the calendar app for, to count the days until all of the delayed games finally come out?
Do some research. The PS4 version has already been downgraded with previous patches. There are plenty of videos and screen shots to prove it as well as threads on CDPR forums.
The good news is that it is a few FPS smoother, the bad news is that it gets more graphics downgrades in draw distance, LOD, lighting etc. They already downgraded the graphics with previous patches, just google it. To me I would rather have the original graphics, the unpatched game looked the best but had many bugs.
@Xb1ps4
Keep telling yourself that if it lets you sleep better at night. Of course ANY digital content can be taken away at any time. You don't own it, you are just getting a license to use which can be revoked at any time, read the disclaimers on these things. Sometimes they revoke it or pull it from their servers. If you lose your HDD it is gone forever. The "wonders" of all digital.
Downgrade!
(That is a pretty big price downgrade)
I liked the reboot on Xbox except for those annoying flying parts. Evolution was indeed dreadful though.
@Haru
This gen I don't trust anything. All you need to do is look at almost any Ubisoft game, (WatchDogs) and the Witcher 3. Also remember the phony PS3 "Killzone 2" E3 reveal that was really pre-rendered CGI? The old e3 footage bait and switch is all to common these days. Show amazing video of something not the game running on actual target hardware, puff up pre-orders, then make excuses later (No downgrade, it is YouTube compression LOL).
...
And get a big graphics downgrade.
The trailer looked too good for a console game. It looks like it was running on a high end "development" PC.
Boring? I play games not UI s. Who cares.
Except PS now is always online, has downgraded visuals due to bandwidth, has input lag and is only a rental. Contrast that to a system native game that you own. Big difference.
People seem to make the mistake of thinking that streaming equals native gaming, it is far from it.
Games running at 1080p rather than 900p with better lighting, more foliage etc are better quality graphics.
Maybe the reverse is true? Why play low res versions with downgraded graphics if you don't have to? Fanboy stubbornness? Oh I know that wonderful X1 UI, because we play UIs and updates not games.
