These consoles are both weak, not "wonderful" . They aren't even as capable as a budget PC and can't always even hit 1080p, have trouble holding a steady 30 FPS, and 60 FPS is rare without dropping resolution to sub full HD.
No, we do need them, and fast.
(BTW you can have both, games AND power, they aren't mutually exclusive)
@bruce755
Being popular doesn't make it better. Many people are just lazy and are a bunch of rubes who wouldn't know quality if it smacked them in the face. You know the same ones who thought VHS tape PQ was good enough.
They exist because streaming quality sucks, and because of inconsistent internet speeds and data caps.
What sense does it make to get a high end 4K TV where quality is the main draw, then feed it shitty quality highly compressed low bitrate content? Kind of defeats the purpose.
Plus some of us have a crazy idea to own our favorite movies instead of renting everything, and owning nothing.
Good to see a bit of retribution for studios lying and deceiving and putting out incomplete crap. That NMS is a microcosm of what is wrong with gaming this gen.
Devs rush out broken games, incomplete games (DriveClub), games with little content at launch (SWBF), games advertised at shows with stunning visuals only to be drastically downgraded at launch (Watch Dogs, the Witcher 3), and games missing whole features shown in trailers and advertised (NMS).

Yeah but his views were very racist. Racism should not be rewarded. He is free to do it but then devs are free not to support him too.
No there wasn't sensitive data on her phone. They were just on a private server. Colin Powell, Rice and others in the Bush admin. have done that too (worse, Colin Powell deleted ALL of the e-mails) and no one made a fuss about it. No soldiers died because of it and was investigated to death with no criminal accusation. If what you say is true she would be in jail.
Like you can only have one?
Most of us already played these. The whole draw of re buying and re playing again is to experience it with better graphics, otherwise what is the point?
It is like saying why watch a movie with better quality on blu-ray again when you already saw it on VHS tape. The "content" is the same why get "hung up" on graphics?
There is a right answer. Let the gamer pick what they want on an options menu. Simple. Next problem. .
Or since the hardware is basically just a weak X86 PC now they could offer different levels at different prices. They would all be compatible like PS4 and Pro but the higher end one you bought would just bump up the graphics. PS4 would be 1080p @ 30, Pro would be 1080p @ 60, and a PS4 super pro elite would be 4K @ 60 fps and include 4K blu-ray. You would buy the one you wanted and could afford. Games would work on all of them but just the resolution and framerate would be different (mayb...
It wouldn't be like PCs. With the PC you have almost infinite combinations of CPU, RAM, GPU, buss, etc all from different companies.
An upgrade able console would just be able to use parts from Sony. This means they can make the parts forward/backward compatible and know what these parts are and would be automatically detected and used by the API. All that would happen is that the graphics settings would increase depending on the upgrade you have kind of like PS4 vs ...
It may stand up against old weak PCs or low end laptops. It would get obliterated by a mid grade PC and up though. That is not why console users buy them. Mostly it is due to ergonomics (easier to use with the couch-TV setup than a KB/M is) and ease of use. Put in game, play. No faffing about with drivers, configs, software conflicts etc. Then there is the online DRM of PCs that consoles don't have (yet).
Drive club sucks. You can't even get the full game on disc (what is on disc is basically an early access demo) , it is basically digital only at this point.
The PS4 has advantages in other genres, but for racing they are outclassed by laps.
Yeah especially since GT has gone online only. Screw GT.
I am a PS4 guy but admit racers on it suck. The Xbone blows it away for racers. GT sport is online only and is crap. It is a good thing for me I am not big on racing games.
Only 1440p? So much for the glorious PC master race, why not 4K?
@Hoffmann
That is great for PC users, Console users don't have that option. It is either disc, or digital download with DRM. You can't back up games on console and HDDs don't last forever.
Yeah what could it cost them to make the discs in bulk, another $1.00 per box? Sega went full retard.
Owning your own games is overrated too. I like knowing that some big company could decide at any time that they don't want me having the content, then rip it from me. That happens all the time from license expiration (music) and sometimes lawsuits result in a game being pulled. Then you just have time, these games won't be online forever. I like paying full price for an extended rental. They own my money but why should I want to own my game?
(LOL at disagrees, ...
So you like having big corporations be the gatekeeper for "your" stuff. I don't, I don't want to ask permission from some third party online company to use, move, load my stuff. I will laugh when eventually the games are pulled from the servers and you no longer have any access to them, then bitch about it. Content is pulled/stripped from digital files online all of the time (licensing time outs etc).
With A disc I can re-install on any console at any...
Games in development hell for years don't usually turn out well (Duke Nukem forever anyone).
I hope it is good but at this point don't expect much more than a re-purposed PS3 game.
