Does anyone really know what the gameplay is about? Wikipedia says "Players are initially given a totally uncharted universe to explore, where information about any planet's characteristics and lifeforms may be shared and updated with others."

So do you think a monster hunter / slayer type gameplay system maybe? Or would it be completely non-violent exploration on the planets? I guess I'm still on the fence for the game without knowing what I'll be doi...

Sigh. All those clouds and light, yet not a single cloud shadow moving across the landscape... which would be a beautiful sight to behold.

Maybe for Destiny 2 once they shake off the last-gen stuff from the engine?

Voozi, what made you work at Zynga in the first place? Did you want to contribute to crap or was that the only option for employment?

I have played it. I'm still in wait and see mode.

- The health system is somewhat weak. Shields are nothing more than an extension of the health bar and any gun can chew through it like any other. No gunplay depth there.
- The maps I played aren't very dynamic (extra paths, doors/bridges that can be opened/closed, environmental hazards etc.)
- Strikes are arcade-y romps, though you might like that
- Some enemies are very flood-like or just fodd...

Does a 'photo' mode in a racing game count as in-engine? In-engine cutscenes often showcase things... differently than during normal gameplay.

Why the disagrees? I've already packaged up my last gen consoles etc. What would be bad with releasing them in some form on current gen?

Streaming solutions are ok as well I suppose (that means getting new releases like this onto the service a short time/same time as the main physical release though)

If they make it for PS4/Xbone I'll consider it.

Just curious: Had the xbox one came in at the exact same power as the PS4, and also had some dedicated hardware to process Kinect (so it wouldn't dip into GPU resources), would Kinect and $500 changed things up to this point?

I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes, it would have changed what we're seeing today. There would've been no resolution gate or questions of 3rd party support going forward.

I think the Xbox one vision (w/Kinect for ...

Whoops, this article was made before removing the Kinect from the console. Skype and Twitch broadcast (along with some casual usage of system voice controls) is what makes Kinect really enjoyable.

It was +$18 for PS4. 20 million times 18 is chump change really. Even if that 18 expands over the first year, <$500 million total is all you'd be looking at. 500 million that has to be split across all employee wages/benefits, exclusives, advertising, distribution, etc. etc.

Microsoft was +$28.

Reggie and Phil always get free passes... are they not both a little responsible for both situations?

That would've been interesting. For that to happen though they would've had to burn another 12months anyhow and let the wii live 1 more year so the wii-u could also release in 2013; otherwise there's no way they'd have equaled anything.

Let's say they would be ok with that - now what? What hardware arch? Would they side with another AMD Jaguar design or go off on their own? If they went off on their own you might then have developers complaining about sup...

There's 'games' and then there's re-releases and anniversary editions.

Most of ntkrnl's leaks seemed quite unappealing to me. Hopefully E3 is not just going to be confirmation about those...

Can you imagine what the world would've look like today had the Xbox also chosen DDR5?

I'm not talking power here, but rather the supply constraints with fabrication of that much RAM... It would have been a very rocky start for both consoles :)

I'm still in a 'wait and see' mode with Destiny because of this type of experience.

A lot of JRPGs that fit your description are on handhelds/phones nowadays. It'll certainly be interesting if we see one like that on a full console.

With the relative success of Bravely, one can always hope though! Or perhaps hope for a proper 'mirroring' of a handheld to a large screen TV.

ROFL. There's more "Half Lifes" in that list than Halos... Such a milked franchise - no one needs any more sequels :)

Remember 2 things though.

The xbox already has low-level access that may not get much better with DX12.

The 50% more efficient statement is only for the time the CPU spends preparing all the data for the GPU. If that is a total of 2ms today for a particular scene, it _may_ become 1ms tomorrow. So it really depends. 2ms out of 16ms (for 60FPS) is 13% of your render budget. Saving 50% CPU at that level will gain you about 6.5% overall.

Here's what swrve said back in January on the same topic -- basically the same thing: http://www.technobuffalo.co...

If it were Zynga or Candy Crush's publisher, they'd charge you for that mini-game :)
