Actually WTF... so I just peeked at the achievements... besides being some of the most un-inspiring I've ever seen, not a single one look to be related to the main story/characters/universe in any way :(
sigh
Well it's too late to go back for me - already pre-downloaded the game. If the story does turn out to be short, shallow, and weak, I probably won't invest much time into the other activities.
That also means there's little reason to come back for more when the DLCs drop and for the subsequent sequels.
What is the purpose of all the other activities if the main story is over? It's just mindless activity after that. That is disappointing.
The other activities are fine, but there's so little meat to this shallow FPS/RPG hybrid.
I'll be digging into story mode tonight. I still have my reservations though but hopefully it'll offer a universe, characters, and story that I end up caring about.
RPG elements of just filling things to the next level is rather secondary to the first part and is most likely just a means to an end (the end being universe, character, story progression).
It was already using Unreal Engine 3 (last gen). You can't really downgrade much when the tech is already that old...
What a garbage article. The guy using UE4 is just experimenting with various things (check their forums) and posting various shots so everyone can learn/comment.
The article, however, somehow throws in the word 'Skyrim' for some cheap hits...
I'm personally still not hyped even after the Beta. It's a good game, just not the game that I wanted so I can't really fault it for that.
I'll most likely put a good number of hours into it because I'm a completionist. However, will I enjoy those hours? Will I just be numb from the shallow, repetitive tasks/battles? Will I be glad it's over? Hopefully, it doesn't turn out like that but we'll have to see.
Really? The disagrees wouldn't want to be dropped in a raptor apocalypse and be hunted by vastly smarter and more menacing foes?
We'd have Raptor Island, DayR, etc.
Enough with the zombies! Next time someone wants to use "zombies" replace with "raptors" and go from there...
Will virtual rollercoasters, serving up legit thrills from Oculus, now become the only accepted form of "on rails" experiences :) ?
None of those shots or videos were about SO... Did the author reach for something that's not there?
FWIW, I think the lighting in SO was awful the last few vids that have been shown. The gun/effect lighting is not applied to the geometry around the effect (not dynamic?) and many things look flat - flatter than would be expected even for that art style.
Why a second titanfall game at all? Do something else.
If you're referring to the book sector, well then I'm cautiously on the side that thinks it would actually improve that - like Steam.
The math doesn't lie in either case. Cheaper prices in lieu of more sales typically comes out greater for both sides.
VR is one of those things that's cool for a short period of time during actual use, and only for a short selection of games.
My biggest question is the following:
- How long do your game sessions last; several hours? Do you want to wear/hold those things and move around for several hours?
See here for an Assassin's Creed parody using Kinect :)

Jokes on you guys. My base will totally be empty... I swear. No use coming for my stuff...
Wow, did anyone else watch that broadcast there on the linked site there? I couldn't sit through that.
There's something about MOBA's and their 2 to 4 "broadcasters" in suits sitting behind a desk that really makes me irrationally angry inside :)
Evolve did the same thing when it was first shown if I remember correctly. Instant turn off for me. Guess I'm not into e-sports.
It makes them wait for greatness! Right guys!? guys??...
The only ultimate showdown we need is this: https://www.youtube.com/wat...
This makes me so happy. I work for a company where some employees left to go work at Zynga.
I will never hire them back if they happen to lose their job and if I have a say during their interview loop. It was clear that they left to chase $$ and didn't want to push any state of the 'art' forward in any way.
Only about 2 days are needed. The first 10h day will allow them to get through the entire campaign. The second day they can get a feel for strikes, public events, and multiplayer. I mean you play one strike, you've basically played them all.
Beyond that you have the (artificially) longer raids, but those are just like strikes except with cheap enemy tactics, mechanics, and artificial matchmaking constraints over top of it.
