God damn Sega, God damn.
I don't get this. They are happy to whore out Sonic in the olympics game and Smash Bros, but when it comes to games that would make a welcome return, they are too lazy do make a Wii version. You know, I'm actually beginning to have some resent for Nintendo. If they gave us a similar powered machine, we wouldn't get the shaft like this.
I have s 360 but it's noisy and unreliable. I don't want to buy more games for it than I have to.
This is nothing more than an audiophile penis waving contest. Seriously I cannot hear a difference between AC3 and DTS, I doubt many regular people are going to care about uncompressed 7.1. You need some high end expensive stuff to appreciate that.
Welcome to last week slowpoke :p
(Not sure about America, but Europe got this update about a week ago. Makes a change to be in good time)
Uncompressed audio is retarded. It's a damn waste of space. Go on, ABX some AC3 then uncompressed and I bet you can't tell the difference. I mean hell, go ahead and use DTS if you must.
Let's say we have uncompressed at 7.1, that's 12288kbps (7.9GB for 90 mins), more than the video data rate of a DVD. DTS would be 6144kbps (around 4GB for 90 mins). AC3 at a pro-rata rate would be about 2.3GB. Wait, reality check. For 12288kbps you can get damn 1080p H.264 looking great (...
I can rip in realtime, but what he doesn't mention is the settings he used or how crippled the encoder was.
It might be that this most recent update also added USB storage support, but I have nothing to confirm that with. It was definately on the cards, and it seems logical now since they are announcing 2 new channels, a load of WiiWare games and demos. Even if they didn't there's always 2GB SD cards.
Thank God Nintendo are finally getting their online together. All I need is a headset and I'll be happy. Playing online with no contact with someone is just like playing against a C...
Hahaha, have fun playing XMB, I'm sure that will keep you entertained for days. Best game ever!
Well let's be honest, 24 games running in 1080p, and how many of them are worth playing? Not a single one. Ridge racer maybe, but it's unrealistic and not a patch on Forza 2.
The first sign of Sony going to crap was many years ago when I bought a HDD walkman. It was 20GB and damn sweet. It said MP3 compatible, but guess what? It isn't. The CONVERSION software is compatible, and you have to convert your MP3's to crappy ATRAC3 (thus wasting time and quality) before you can load them on. It's purposely deceitful advertising.
However try as I may, I can't get away from Sony. I just bought a surround sound kit and it was about the best kit I could ...
@Lumbo
Woah wait a minute. I said I support HD-DVD because I can do what I please with it. That implies that I like control over what I buy; I'm not whining about piracy, I'd rather pay and get the quality.
And with your snide iPod remark, I did say recompressing it, which would also involve downscaling the resolution, but if the format is locked and DRM'ed, then I won't be able to rip and re-encode it for my own use.
Perhaps I should buy a PSP a...
Oh yeah, I forgot. Fair usage does not exist in Sony land. How foolish of me. The concept is alien to Sony loyalists.
Seriously, who is retarded enough to disagree with fair usage? Do you people LIKE being locked down and confined with proprietary technologies? Wouldn't it be nice if things just *worked*?
I support a format because it means I can do what I want with it. If I want to rip it and store it on my laptop I can. If I want to recompress it and put it on my ipod/mobile phone I can. Not with Bluray because it's full of DRM AIDs and rootkits
I told you all along that this was coming. Bluray is DRMed to hell. HD-DVD is already cracked and you can do what the hell you like with it. Forget Sony and it's dumb formats. The DVD forum was good enough last time, and they are good enough this time too.
This is what Sony gets for rushing an UNFINISHED spec to market.
What? Shooting games are a dime a dozen on Xbox, I think it can live without Halo. I reckon Bioshock would easily fall into place
@Vip3r
1. The big movie studios will be attracted to whatever format sells most. If HD-DVD is easier for people to rip, copy or whatever and so people buy that; industry would lean that way. If no one was buying Bluray, it would be dropped like a hot brick, just like how Sony is losing all these exclusives.
2. They are, but it's still the initial outlay that puts people off upgrading. Also I forgot to mention, but HD-DVD is double sided and the reverse side is actual...
I do not understand the reasoning of people supporting bluray.
1) It's more DRM'ed than HD-DVD (HD-DVD is AACS only and is cracked, Bluray also has BD+ and most crackers aren't bothering with it)
2) Bluray players cost more
3) It costs more to produce a Bluray disc (HD-DVD only requires modifications to a DVD press, Bluray is an entirely different process)
4) HD-DVD is available in 51GB, so Bluray doesn't still have a size advantage
5) HD-DVD and it's conten...
Although I jest, I think maybe it's something MGS4 related. Perhaps a demo... or Home?
Big bang is that they are writing off PS3 as a failure and are announcing work on PS4
Third parties need to gauge when to use motion control, and when not to use it. It's no use using motion control in some utterly stupid way just for the sake of it. If motion control doesn't suit, use the bare controls of the nunchuk and remote, or classic pad.
I consider myself a core gamer, but there's no shame in playing something like Wii Sports. It makes a nice change, something quick and easy to get into (very busy these days) and even my parents play it with me. Imagine that, my mum playing computer games!
Yet more Sony viral marketing. I mean who in their right mind would steal a PS3, let alone buy one?
