That's an absolute nightmare to develop for and developers will cater to the lowest model in almost all cases. It wont happen.
You realise that out of the $60 a game costs, the devs are lucky to get maybe $10 of it? Most of it gets split between the store and the publisher, plus MS/Sony want a cut as well.
You do realise that the Wii is little more than an overclocked gamecube with motion controls, right? It worked for Nintendo.
Don't forget, Microsoft seems determined to use Natal as some kind of console "relaunch" and the motion stuff is right up the Japanese's alley so who knows what might happen in the future. The Japanese are a bit unpredictable sometimes.
"potentially cheaper games with greater profits"
Sorry, but that hasn't and wont happen. The digital games are the same price, or more expensive, than retail games. Same for DLC.
After all, why should they bother making games cheaper when they can just fatten their profit margins a bit more?
I don't mind the points system, I'm not silly enough to buy something without knowing what the actual cost is going to be to me, even if I have to stop and think about it for a few seconds.
What I do have a problem with is the stupid cost of a lot of items, so far out of every DLC ever released, the only one I've willingly thought I wasn't getting shafted over was GTAIVs. All those 800point map packs are an absolute joke. I wouldn't mind if they dropped the price over time, but t...
Actually these are all stock photographs from Microsoft, not the editor. I'm guessing he was either too lazy to take his own, or simply didn't have the equipment for it.
Hey guys, well done on making that call about GT5 6months before its even released, lovin' those psychic powers of yours.
And that was directed towards everyone here, including the ones saying that Forza 3 is better than it.
What bugs? That "evaluation copy" was a release candidate, not the final software. You were about 500 builds short of the final thing. Try the RTM and you'll see it doesn't even need a service pack.
I know for a FACT that this game is going through CERTIFICATION right now. That means its currently in the hands of Sony/Microsoft and assuming there's no TRC issues, it'll go gold. In fact, it probably has by now as I've heard of no issues from any of the testers I know at Sony.
If there was a problem like this, it'd be patched on launch day instead.
I hope its free to play/ad supported, more MMOs need to take this route.
Except it wouldn't REALLY be competing. I mean they'd be very similar games for sure, but no more so than Killzone 2 and Resistence are similar. Besides, MMOs are the next "step" in console games and Planetside would be a great way of Sony sticking it to Microsoft.
Avatar awards were only recently added, so it'll probably be a while before we regularly see them in games.
I'd also like to inquire as to the 3 disagrees with my above post? I wasn't stating an opinion, I was simply relaying what fourzerotwo had said on twitter. What's to disagree with?
According to fourzerotwo's twitter, they're NOT doing Avatar Awards, but they ARE hoping to do some FREE Avatar Items.
He also said that they'll be doing some Dynamic PS3 themes and anything else Sony gives them a chance to do, so everyone benefits the same.
"@iiaMChRiS Not sure we'll be doing any Avatar rewards, but we are making avatar items. With some free ones hopefully."
"@evilpizzacandy are you seriously acting like that? Just stop. ...
They said an Xbox 360 exclusive game was good? Microsoft MUST have paid them!
</sarcasm>
The same kinds of limitations that a 32bit architecture has when compared to 64bit.
For most consumers, the only limitation THEY'LL ever see is with regards to memory. However, when you have more register space (more "bits"), you can perform certain kinds of calculations MUCH faster. Things like encoding and decoding, cryptography and such benefits from the extra address space and 128bit will make that even faster. However, the real benefit will be for things like scientific n...
They probably mean realistic HANDLING.
Before anyone says that its useless and that its better on a PC, keep in mind - you've not used it yet.
I'm not saying that I'm eagerly awaiting this feature and think its going to be the best thing ever, frankly I'm indifferent to it as I'm not a huge fan of Twitter OR Facebook, but I do think its worth holding judgement until we actually see it in action.
This is something I don't understand and I want a genuine answer here:
People are always going on about how a game gets "gimped" because of the 360. The developers don't want to make one version better than the other, so the PS3 version gets "gimped" to match the 360 version, right?
But then how come it never seems to go the other way? We rarely ever see a PS3 Multiplat look better than the 360 verison, yet we see plenty of 360 multiplats that look or ru...
Actually there's probably a shred of truth in this article somewhere. Lets assume that the next gen systems were due in 2012 (7 years after the 360, not an unreasonable guess), then Microsoft would actually be currently nailing down the specifications of it right now. They need to get developers about 2 years to make some launch titles, even if specifications aren't final they need to at least give them some idea. And considering they currently use ATI, there's a good chance they'll stick wit...
