Just because the casual market seems bigger doesn't mean the hardcore market is gone. Think about it, about 80% of all 360s and PS3s sold today have been to hardcore people, that means there's easily about 50million hardcore players out there (at least). That's a big enough market, trust me.
Tell that to all the people claiming that GT5 is Better than Forza 3.
"if the PS3 can continue to outsell the 360 by roughly 150,000 consoles a month, much like it did in September, the PS3 has the smallest of small chances of outselling the 360 in the US for 2009."
Problem is, that wont happen. September was when the Slim launched, so you have to account for a nice "peak" in sales. It might still outsell the 360 each month, but it wont be by the same margin and thus 2009 will have been the year of the 360. By a Nose. In just th...
I'm sorry, but if I go into a store, buy something and it doesn't work, I get pissed off too. Yes, the consumers are pissed off and have every right to be, but its not their fault, its the fault of the store that sold it early when they shouldn't have.
However, this happens all the time, its not illegal, its more luck than anything else. Even Microsoft has said on numerous occasions that if you get a 360 game early, legitimately, then well done, go play it and have fun. The publishers o...
Yeah, it prevented legitimate players from playing a game they BOUGHT with their own money. Way to go, securom!
Yeah, the UK - where ripping people off is compulsory...
But they don't need to, Microsoft pushes all of those updates onto the disks with newer games. The latest games (that whole "wave 4" thing that people seem to believe was an anti-piracy attempt) come with the update that came out in August and the update later this year only includes online functionality so nobody is missing out on anything.
Sony does it as well for both the PSP and the PS3, its a non-issue.
Thank you for that very relevant comment, JokesOnYou.
I believe this is an attempt to prevent piracy. Dedicated servers are often "cracked" to allow anyone to play on them and MW2s main appeal is MP, so without dedicated servers, there's not much you can do.
It isn't worth the price its at now, but I don't know anyone dumb enough to actually PAY that price. In the UK I believe RRP is £45 or so, but I rarely pay more than £25 for 12 or 13months (Whichever is better value, really), which I think IS a reasonable amount. If that was the RRP, a lot less people would b*tch and a lot more people would sign up.
I don't think MS has any intention of raising the price, if anything they'll probably lower it to encourage more people on...
But the all important question is - which platform(s) is it for?
You're all assuming that Microsoft wont make that money back from sales of the two expansions, which aren't exactly small expansions, they're quite substantial with plenty of new content. It doesn't matter if GTAIV is any good or not, if it still sells then Microsoft will be happy.
Actually, read the MN post before you jump to some conclusions. He constantly refers to Memory Units, but never once actually mentions "Hard Drives" in any way shape or form. This is most likely an attempt to Block Datel's MUs than anything else, but I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Explain to me, please, how 20 missions with co-op is somehow bigger than 20 missions without co-op PLUS 23 EXTRA missions WITH co-op?
EDIT: Whoops, replied to the wrong person.
Uhhh, must make sure I don't get any disagrees now...uhhh....boobs rule!
They didn't put it in because it wasn't fun, instead they made Spec Ops mode which is basically the same thing, except actually fun. That way, you get the best of both.
It's because this is NOT an anti-piracy measure, this article is stupid, misleading and flat out wrong.
Let me clear this up for some of you - this was NOT an anti-piracy measure by Microsoft!
All Microsoft has done is change the dashboard update that comes on the disk to the one they released last August. That's IT. That's all that changed.
The reason it "matters" to 360 pirates is because the modified firmware they use has its OWN security checks - one of those checks is a checksum of the data on the disk. If one byte of that is wrong, Microsoft could detect it an...
"saddly midless retards roam the earth"
You managed to misspell the first two words of that sentence. Way to prove your point, mate.
That's why the PS3 version uses 1080P HD videos and the 360 version doesn't, right? Because they did it deliberately so they're equal? Oh wait, no....
