Bubble.

Gamers don't understand economics. They only care about their own feelings. The author doesn't like the 3DS, therefore the 3DS is a failure.

Its the worst sort of tautological circular argument.

@Funantic1: You typed all that and you only have two bubbles? Surprising.

Ah the same old argument! Its an "argument" that ignores the nature of "markets".

I've posted this analogy many times before, but here we go again.

The iPhone is like a fishing boat. It is a generalist device. It does a bunch of things ok. It is easy to transport, easy to find a lake or stream to use it in and has modest speed on the water. It does everything you want it to do, but not any one thing particularly well or over the t...

Gamers shrug at Nintendo 2DS because gamers are not the intended audience.

Gamers need to learn a little empathy and realize that game companies do not exist solely for their personal needs.

The reaction to the 2DS is a perfect example of why the mainstream treats us like social outcasts. We behave badly and selfishly when we don't like something.

Many parents will struggle to save the money needed to give their young child a game system. This is a price entry point that is more attractive to them. Not everyone is well off.

The 3DS XL screen is like .1 inchs bigger. Negligible difference in size.

You haven't actually read any of the release articles apparently. This isn't just about 3D/2D. Nintendo is marketing a profitable lower price point targeted at a younger market. A lot of parents won't drop 200+ on a game system for Christmas, but they will consider 130. Youu realize that game companies are businesses, right? They're there to make money.

Heck, the Vita is a fine system...but it isn't marketed to me. Neither is the PS3, or 4. I'm ...

Not sure how a machine with almost all of the same features but that costs 40 dollars less is a poor value.

Gamer logic: If it isn't for ME, it isn't for ANYONE.

Hey, a sensible article on this matter!

3D was never big. Corporations have attempted to push 3D as a marketable product for decades, and we'll never get past the fact that for most people you feel weird with even a little viewing.

4571d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

This is just another market for the handheld. Are you not part of that market? Ok. But that doesn't mean it isn't a marketable product.

Gamers have a way of rejecting anything not directly tailored to them personally. I am not interested in the 2DS. But other people might be, and I have the empathy to acknowledge that their needs might be different from mine.

Gamers should never reject anything that potentially brings more gamers into the market,...

Thought this was a joke at first.

Ninty clearly trying to capitalize on another market. It benefits all of us in that the more people buy Ninty systems, the higher quality the IPs.

System doesn't appeal to me at all, but if it does to others and gets them to jump on board I'm all for it.

I agree. I only disagreed with the score on a couple of them and I would have only changed the score by one up or down.

Reviewing games is subjective and rating scales just give us perceived objectivity that can't exist.

Just write what you like, give it a quick and dirty number and go with it.

You cannot tell players they "must" play games that haven't been released yet. That is ludicrous. I don't care how much you are anticipating Pokemon or the newer EO, you should never ever ever recommend games you have never played. Ever.

That said, SMT 4 is a fabulous game.

The pro-mobile crowd doesn't understand the concept of different markets driven by different needs. Its like a game is a game to them, and it doesn't matter if its Candy Crush or Resident Evil Revelations. In their eyes, if Candy Crush sells more than Resident Evil Revelations, it is an argument for Resident Evil Revelations not existing at all, and that gamers that prefer Resi Rev should stop liking it and stop buying quality. Its a total herd mentality. Beef sells a lot of money...

Your comment is pretty great evidence that you don't have the foggiest understanding of the handheld gamer market.

I'm certainly not opposed to indie game development. But let's get real. Indie game developers produce a hit for every 100+ games released. Anyone who owns an iOS or android device and has spent time perusing their app stores knows that most of the games are utter trash. Not just not fun, but broken. We should expect this when you open app development to anyone.

As to your second comment, yes, the Vita and 3DS have crap games in their online shops too. But they ...
