Way to blame the victim Muffins.
"If she didn't want to be raped, she shouldn't have worn those clothes."
"If she didn't want to be beaten, she shouldn't have provoked him."
"If Nintendo didn't want to be affected by a natural disaster, they should have outsourced more of their workforce."
I can see how developers would be thrown for a loop given a natural disaster.
I wonder if the delay in speaking of it is due to a Japanese cultural taboo of admitting weakness in times of stress?
I'm not defending them blindly, but I'm also not criticizing them blindly, like a lot of people here do. Unlike many gamers I can empathize and see the logic in a national scale disaster affecting development. Johnny Nintendo Designer has parents in an outl...
The list is obviously going to be highly personal based upon tastes. My top five are:
Animal Crossing: New Leaf
SMT 4
FE:A
Monster Hunter 3: Ultimate
Kid:Icarus Uprising
With Resi: Rev being a very close sixth.
Covers all the best genres, IMO: FPS, Tactical RPG, Traditional RPG, cutesy retirement simulator.
For all this vitriolic Fanboy posturing the fact is that both systems are great and they both market to very different segments of the handheld market. And whatever segment you are, beating up on the other segment does you no good and does nothing to forward the cause of dedicated handhelds in general. I don't believe that phone gaming should or will put dedicated handhelds out of the market. Quality games are better than superficial games. But the more we fight and tear down our &quo...
This guy flip flops more than a politician.
A year ago he tried to convince people that the 3DS was the Anti-Christ and that it was coming for the souls of your children and your children's children.
I've had a 3DS for years but I've also seriously considered a Vita. Its so pretty. But, it doesn't have any of the games I want or would find enjoyable.
Sony markets well to only four sets of gamers: guns, fighting, racing, and sports (marginally). If you don't like any of those things, you're stuck with Little Big Planet, and that isn't enough to carry a system.
If Sony diversified its catalogues, I would buy its products. But t...
The one thing you have right is that gamers disagree. I think you are in the minority with your definitions.
People that actually play strategy RPGs do not lump them in with JRPGs.
Fire Emblem and Disgaea are not JRPGs. They're SRPGs.
Sheesh, its like anything that is made in Japan and has CHARACTERS in it gets labelled a JRPG.
Companies don't have the legal leverage to retroactively discontinue products of their rivals just because they bought a company that worked for the rival.
You don't gain past intellectual property rights when you buy a company.

Atlus should stay multi-platform. They turn out better games by being on both sides of competition. It pushes them to stay relevant.
"ALMOST every gamer WILL be getting it. "
Shouldn't your username be CaptainFanboy?
If PS4 wasn't marketed to 17 year old boys I might consider getting one. If you don't like guns and blood and racing the console is lost on you.
Its a pretty typical "help" article from someone who knows the mechanics, but doesn't really understand the depth of the mechanics. Or, at the very least, how to explain the depth of the mechanics.
Exactly. Because when car companies buy up smaller companies, those cars get pulled off the market?
Or when a record label buys a smaller record label, anything recorded under a different label gets pulled from the artist's catalogue?
Or when General Mills buys up a subsidiary of Nabisco, that food that was developed by Nabisco gets pulled from store shelves?
There is SO MUCH just flat out WRONG with your last paragraph.

Its also out of a "Victorian" parenting style. Victorian parenting is the idea that children are simply little adults and that they should be treated like adults. Pokemon is not as "simple" as Gespenst thinks. Perhaps narratively, I'll grant him that. But the gameplay goes pretty deep, especially for young kids.
I just get this "my kids are gonna be dumb unless I shelter them from anything that I find 'stupid' as an adult" vibe fr...
You make an interesting argument, because I think its rooted in two classic parenting philosophies that we know don't work.
The first is that you come awfully close to the "classic" scapegoating technique claiming that media in of itself is damaging to children. The same argument has been levelled at rock music, Elvis, Dungeons and Dragons, violent video games, violent films, Huckleberry Finn, The Catcher in the Rye, etc.
This one has never pan...
Same here. Good choice.
I already have New Leaf so I'm getting the Mii Plaza Bundle and maybe saving the rest for another retail title. Or maybe Denpa Men 2
You're right and that definitely matters to some people. Many gamers could care less about that stuff though so the game itself has to be worth the extra money for them. And I'm sure it will be.
When Capcom was going to charge 50 bucks for Resi Rev on 3DS, people freaked out. After playing it, I would have paid 50 for it. But I also understand the freakout.
Nobody seems to be freaking out over Atlus charging 50 for SMT4, and rightfully so. Atlus has created a strong enough reputation in the industry that their very loyal fans will pay 50 for a high quality game.
I will be.
I get that. :)
I heard there was some major glitch in 999 or Zero Escape. I can't remember which one, but it has prevented me from getting into the series.
