Interesting. Don't get me wrong. I simultaneously love and despise this site. I love it for the news. I despise it because the internet continually shows us that, when all the chips are down, the world is still full of slimeballs that will hide behind anonymity to express their angst without fear of reprisal.
That said, I'm not sure that the solution is segregating the communities. I'm a Nintendo fan, but I depend upon the WELL REASONED Sony fans to give me a...
This game was better than I expected. It isn't just a hack and is a lot more strategic. I've found it quite challenging and the order that you choose to accomplish objectives in a mission can have a huge impact on the outcome. Very rewarding gameplay for a "hack".
Amidst all the usual Doom-prophesizing no one seems to have bothered to consider that it could be a sanctioned battery pack that wouldn't void the warranty of the device. That said, WhiteLighnting, I'm pretty sure you have absolutely no concept of how video game design, marketing, or distribution works. Thanks for the opinion though.
I enjoy my 3DS, so that makes me "have no sense"? What makes no sense is a person making a legitimate value judgment based upon their personal likes and dislikes and then acting like their personal likes and dislikes should be true for other people as well.
Try this: Take your message, and replace every reference to the 3DS with references to simple flip phones. By any measure, classic flip phones are now very much "outdated" compared to smart phones. ...
Why does it hurt Sony fans so badly that I'm having fun with my 3DS? Why are you wishing so badly for the 3DS to fail? Why does it matter so much to you? I don't like the Vita. It doesn't fit me. But I don't want it to fail. Competition is healthy. It forces companies to improve. If you got your wish, and Nintendo failed, Sony would have no impetus to improve.
I'm just curious if some of you realize how absurd it is to desire the failure of a compe...
EVERY SINGLE TIME a new system comes out, the old systems outsell it. Late adopters swoop in on the lowest prices. EVERY SINGLE TIME somebody uses this trend as evidence that the new system is "failing". And EVERY SINGLE TIME they've been wrong.
Worldwide charts are out for this week and I will admit that I was wrong:
3DS 248,900
DS 97,000
PSP 88,000
I apologize to everyone for my prior comments. The PSP is quite clearly kicking all Nintendo handhelds. The 3DS is doomed. I am making my judgment based upon the fact that 88,000 is a bigger number than 345,000.
Also note that Nintendo's "old" technology is being smashed by the PSP. And by smashed I mean...

I'm not sure why people would be pissed if they enjoyed the system and got quality play out of it early on. I bought mine three weeks before the price drop, immediately before the drop was announced. I'm not angry. I got lots of solid and super fun gaming in during those three weeks. I love my system. I made my decision to purchase at the time that I did, based upon my personal pros and cons. If I didn't think that the 3DS was worth 250 when I purchased it, I never would hav...
Oh, and I get that many people don't buy from Gamestop because purchasing a game used results in all profit for Gamestop. I think that is a separate issue from the "Gamestop used kills gaming" argument.
Business people, correct me if I'm wrong here but doesn't a game company make money the instant a chain of stores buy games directly from them or a distributor? After that transaction, it doesn't really matter to the game company whether the actual physical copy of the game sells at the store. It is now the store's problem. What matters to the gamer is that stores keep purchasing the games from the manufacturers and the store isn't going to do that if they don't sel...
Anyone who thinks this hasn't had enough hands on time with the console or had made their mind up long before they even touched one. In short, the 3DS is not a DS with 3D. Everything about it functions better than the DS, except the battery life, which is a known legitimate criticism.
People are using the existence of superficial smartphone games as a rationale for the 3DS and Vita being "doomed" and being "the last dedicated handheld gaming platforms". This article points out exactly why those arguments don't make sense.
Absolutely nothing. Apple isn't a game development company.
Great responses in the comments here. The answer as others have said is that you should buy one or the other, both or neither. In short, you should buy to your personal preferences. I own a 3DS and love it but that doesn't mean I think the Vita should fail. What I want is for both of them to find a market so that both can survive and have healthy competition for a middle group with flexible tastes. The Vita doesn't appeal to me, but if it appeals to other people I'm happy that ...
But will it void the warranty? I can't see how, given that it is completely external.
Shows how little this guy knows. Ghost Recon Shadow Wars was the sleeper title that apparently this guy never tried. I put 40 hours into that game before I finished the campaign and I still have stuff to do with it.
The author seems to assume that since the system has 3D that he should be using 3D. So don't use the 3D. If the 3DS didn't have 3D I still would have bought it. Would it have been impossible for him to enjoy Ocarina in 2D? It was 2D when it first came out. The author's logic is faulty. You don't need to use the 3D on the 3DS if you don't like it. Hence, the slider on the side. A gimmick on a system does not mean that you have to buy into the gimmick.
Because we all know that what a game looks like is what is most important. Gameplay doesn't matter, apparently. Because I seem to recall that PSP has lots of pretty games that are rated complete crap because their mechanics are stupid. That is why WOW is so popular, right? The 2003 caliber PC graphics. WOW should be tanking, shouldn't it? I'd venture that if you look at the history of gaming, game play is much more important than graphics. People play Mario Kart because its...
The only problem I have with this "mobile gaming is hurting platforms" argument is that it assumes that mobile gaming draws market share away from portie consoles. I'm sure to some extent that's true but I think that draw is greatly exaggerated. The biggest impact that mobile gaming has had is on bringing NEW markets to gaming. Very few gamers that I know buy iOS games. Why? iOS games pretty much suck after the first 30 minutes. They lack the depth of portie console ga...
