@LND: Still not sure how people still consider the 3DS a DS when it has vastly improved processor power. In your eyes does a console count as "new" only if it doesn't look like any of its predecessors? Saying that the 3DS is "basically" a DS is like saying that the XBOX 360 is basically an Xbox because they both were a console box with a Microsoft-style controller and that it doesn't matter that the Xbox 360 is vastly more powerful.
This has gotten mostly positive reviews from our Aussie friends who already have this in their eSHOP.
I did read it, and reading something doesn't make it true. This idiot makes the same flawed and inexperienced argument that many other smart phone fanboys make. He spent a few hours with his shiny new toy, ignored the problems, didn't get a call while playing, didn't wait to see what happens when he wants to game AND make calls with the battery life, and is now prepared to call it the best thing since sliced bread.
When he waits, he'll see what happens with ...
@despair: Well, I agree with you when you say that Vita has power and games for SOME gamers. Not all. Trust me, those of us who like Nintendo systems don't like them because we're morons. We like the style of games that they offer. But it isn't about what I like, it is about what is available to suit everyone's taste. I want Vita to succeed because it means healthy competition and it means that certain gamers will get what they want. I often want something different fro...
You pigeon-holed me. Read my response above. What I READ on here is that a lot of Vita supporters seem to think that console power alone is a reason to buy a system and I was trying to point out that there is a ton of evidence that that ALONE isn't the case, and that Vita owners should be touting the examples of games that you and Baka gave. Those Vita supporters are hurting your argument by quoting hardware power alone.
Sheesh, I agree with you. Don't just assume...
I agree with you. What I'm saying is that there are a lot of Vita supporters who seem to think that "the system is the most powerful" is the only needed rationale to buy one. At least, ones that post here. They think that the Vita can do no wrong, simply because it is a powerhouse.
I'm saying that trends like "tap here and execute complex move" are not trends that any gamer (PC, console, handheld) should feel good about and that Vita will succeed...
Nintendo has always proven and continues to prove that just having hardware power alone doesn't make games great. Gameplay is what makes games great. If I were to buy a Vita, I wouldn't buy it simply because it was the most powerful handheld. I would buy it because of great gameplay.
Games like Minecraft and WOW are also great examples of this philosophy. Horrendous graphics by industry standards but awesome gameplay.
I hope that the Vita can churn...
Yay! Another tech hipster who thinks that his preference for games should be MY preference for games! The future is clearly a device that can do lots of things poorly rather than one thing really well!
This is clearly a troll article but it does do an excellent job of revealing how incredibly short-sighted and un-empathetic the pro-smart phone/anti-dedicated handheld crowd is to people who aren't them. Let me summarize their argument:
"I love my sma...
I'm not sure how a year is going to make a difference. Pro-smart phone people here just seem to ASSUME that because THEY are ok with 1-3 dollar mini games that other consumers are as well. I'm not. I consider smartphone gaming to be pretty superficial based upon what I've seen. I've tried a lot.
I think you're ignoring the fact that what is best/desired for you is not what is best or desired for other people. I carry my 3DS everywhere with me. I don't have a smart phone, because I don't need one. I use my phone to (drumroll) make telephone calls and text. I can check my email/do internet stuff at both work AND at home, so why the heck would I pay 30 bucks extra per month per line to get data? For me, on my household income, doing that is fiscally irresponsible.

Thanks for the reality check. Bubble up. Anybody can make anything look like something else when they conveniently choose to ignore the facts that don't support their argument. None of this is journalism. Journalism should require fact checking and a reputation that you can stand behind. On the web, anyone can say anything without any consequences, so tripe like this continually gets posted.
Which is illegal.
I agree. Bubble for you.
No matter what stock you put in VGChartz, its pretty clear that the 3DS has completely turned around. This bodes pretty well for Vita, because as that system matures it appears that there is a still a very vibrant market for dedicated gaming handhelds.
"Quite frankly, most of the games out now, are all recycled Nintendo titles with “3D” features added to them, but after watching the recent Nintendo web conference, I’m now convinced that there is one game, that will get me to finally pick-up a 3DS."
Quite frankly, this is evidence that this person doesn't understand the 3DS library and isn't giving it much of a chance.
No kidding. How about we stop seeing this as an "either/or", acknowledge that they can both fill a niche, and hope for both of them to succeed, because mutual success means healthy competition. Sheesh.
The recent Mario releases are great and I wouldn't fault you for choosing them over SW. But, it is available for cheap and well worth the money. I paid full retail for it and don't regret the purchase in any way.
Shadow Wars convinced me to buy a 3DS earlier than I had planned and the game was better than I expected. I put a solid 35 hours into it and I still haven't completed everything in it. It is the true sleeper casualty of the launch lineup and it is a great way to gauge whether someone really understands the 3DS library or is just talking out of their ass. If you don't like turn-based that's fine. But if you talk about the best of the first year and don't include this game i...
Super Mario 3D Land is amazing! I got the game. iPhone, dream on! That's all I can say!
There ya go. Punctuation added for ya. ;)
Probably because they're reporting a rumor without any pictures so they just used a stock photo. Do you honestly think Nintendo would just release a picture of a device just because someone prints a rumor?
