More than any other game this year (maybe on par with MGS), I'll bet this one moves consoles for Sony. You know Insomniac doesn't make a bad game and they are on their 3rd PS3 game while everyone else is just now coming out with 1.
"Today Best Buy, Target and Walmart all announced they will no longer stock HD-DVD's".
HD-DVD consortium responds:
"While we consider this news disappointing we are still a long way from resolving this format war and feel HD-DVD represents the superior format that will eventually win out. Some Best Buy employees have told us on good faith that they will NOT throw out the HD-DVD's pulled from the shelves but will actually sell them from the back st...
If I didn't know any better, I would think Zhuk is SurferGirl. His predictions are right on the money time and time again. In fact as I type this, the Japanese are currently dumping the Wii and PS3 and snatching up any 360 they can find for some LO goodness. MS has finally broken into the Land of the Rising Sun. I hear they are diverting every available 360 out East even the ones in the MS service center red ringed or not.
Zhuk is once again right on the money (when isn't he?). I've heard a little rumor starting to circulate that Sony's in house development teams have started to shift development to the 360 to reap the benefits from MS's awesome piece of technology :)
Last one to leave HD-DVD headquarters, please turn off the lights.
"Still, it's true that Burnout Paradise would be pretty unsettling if the collisions produced mangled, screaming human bodies"
Nah, has anyone tried the game Pain on the PS3? It's great fun to smack someone up against a building and watch their screaming, mangled body go flying all around.
Add some person jettisoning from the windshield to Burnout Paradise and go flying right into oncoming traffic... you know you want to see it.
I was thinking the same thing when I read the article. One platform that can be expanded/updated with new hardware and flavors of software... Sounds like he described a PC to me.
They are stuck between a rock and hard place. You have inventory (hopefully, they are slowing down production of them) that you need to move or get rid of, yet the only way you will sell is to the uninformed or bargain hunters.
Watch, when MS comes out with a Blu-ray add on they will claim they were planning it from the get go, and are just now getting it to market.
I should clarify, I had no bias coming into the purchase toward one company or another. It wasn't until I started researching that I made a decision. I didn't really keep up with the gaming news before buying a console and I didn't own an Xbox, PS2 or GC in the past.
He makes alot of valid points and I agree with pretty much everything until the end. He states people are sitting on the fence about which console to get waiting for a clear winner.
I don't think that is the case... maybe it was for Blu-ray and HDDVD, but people on the fence are waiting for 2 things of greater importance than a clear winner: Strong enough titles to get the new system. GTA, MGS are pretty good reasons people will start buying next gen systems. Cost reduction....
or for people who can't keep from peeing on their laptop while on the toilet ;)
Hindsight is always 20/20 and coming out with a console first means you have to make alot of decisions without alot of data.
Having a base system like the 360 and charging an arm and a leg for addons is a good business decision provided the rest of the industry follows suit, but every single console/handheld in the current next gen now has built in WiFi (DS, PSP, PS3, Wii) and the 360 just looks ridiculous charging $100.00 for something standard everywhere else. If the rest fo...
When you say which console has won, not really sure there is going to be a clear cut winner as KewlKat said like you had with the PS2. That makes it better all around for the consumer as it keeps Sony/Nintendo/MS on their toes.
If as the article says the 360 is the '07 winner, doesn't necessarily mean MS was the '07 winner as they had to take a 1 billion dollar hit for faulty hardware.
Look out Mass Effect. Wait until Fox News gets a hold of this one.
Strange choice for a cover for Time though? Doesn't sell the product too well.
Where do they get a number like that? My kids have DS's and all my nieces, nephews and a ton of their friends, my wife and alot of her friends. I can probably count 20-30 kids under 10 that have them and I guarantee you they or their parents have no clue what an R4 or for that matter even what a chip is. If that number is right, then 18 of 20 6 year olds that my son knows are stealing games with their R4 chip :)
Smells like sensational journalism to make a point.
I have four Wii remotes and I'm forever swapping batteries out of them. It doesn't get more playtime than the PS3, not sure how long they actually last, but doesn't seem like the # of hours quoted. I never even think about the PS3. I have 2 controllers and one is always charged up, so it never becomes an issue. It starts getting low, I plug it in and use the other.
It does seem like the PS3 should be the top of the stack on this since the controller is much simpler than the...
After work a bunch of my fellow 30 somethings go down to Starbucks, loosen our tie and start the beat down on anyone with a badge or loose morals. Hey, if they can do it in GTA why can't we?
Games, music, movies are all easy scapegoats for societies violence problems. I'm sure if they all dried up, so would crime.
Let's start first and foremost with the parents and how they raise their kids, then go down the list.
My wife used to hate whatever hobby I had at the time because it took time away from her, even reading. That was early in the marriage, now she understands that you can't be with your significant other 24/7 and you need outlets like gaming or in your case guitar. She'll probably come around sooner or later.
I didn't think the demo was that horrible. It looked rather mundane and forgettable, but not a 3.5. Oh well, wasn't really considering it anyway.
