You can just see in their interviews and speeches how they are trying to one up each other... that can only make things better for consumers. Imagine if MS called it quits after the first XBox. I don't know if I would be celebrating a Superbowl victory after kicking a field goal before halftime. Both MS and Sony could use a dose of humility. Actually, Nintendo is kicking the pants off both of them. Sony and MS are like the kids stuck in the back seats fighting over the best window while Nintendo stretches out its legs in the comfy front.... although to be honest, Nintendo shouldn't get so comfortable they get complacent.

I wondered that myself. Isn't the GDC supposed to be developers getting together to discuss development, technologies, tips/tricks that sort of thing? Why is it a platform for companies to demo and announce new games to the consumer?
More HS cinematics would be great! Gameplay could use some tweaking though, but hopefully they will incorporate all the criticisms with HS and turn those into positives as well as maintain the high standards of the cinematics from HS.

I feel for the developers that put alot of time and effort into this. From the dev diaries videos they appear excited and stoked about what they came up with. It doesn't look like false hype at all. Try Wii Boxing, not only do your arms hurt but you are exhausted. No one has come over to my house and played Wii Sports for any length of time without some repercussions the next day.

Yup, Dareaver1 hit the nail on the head. Japan is fiercly loyal to their own brand. There really is nothing MS can do to beat out Nintendo and Sony in Japan. Plus, with the RROD of death fiasco it could backfire in their face and just confirm to the Japanese that American products are inferior.

Sounds like it won't be a disappointment. Should be alot of fun. I'm a little tired of QTE events in games though.
This is going way back, but my fondest gaming memory as a kid was playing Bard's Tale. I played the heck out of that game and mapped every step of the way on graph paper. I have no clue how many hours I logged, but I remember playing it for ages fighting alot of random battles.
Everquest comes in 2nd (or could be first for that matter). That was a pretty bad addiction until one day I just quit playing it.
Looks interesting. Hopefully, it will do well. We need more games that are outside the box, otherwise publishers will just get more gun shy and give us the run of the mill.
I think MS is really going to take a look at '08 and see how the tide goes before deciding. If the PS3 does gain momentum, you might see a 720 announcement sooner rather than later, otherwise if the 360 can hold its own and MS can get a handle on the RROD, the 720 might come later.
What MS cannot afford to do is have another hardware disaster like the 360. If they haven't tested, retested and tested again the quality of the 720, then they can consider themselves done in the g...

I think you bring up alot of good points. It is most likely new IP or Phil H. wouldn't have at first been ready to deny it if the reporter had mentioned something known to the public. I'm gonna say it is something we haven't heard of before.
