Your assuming that each installment will provide a years worth of entertainment. 19.99 sounds awesome for a years play but what about 19.99 for a weeks?
Say I bought fable 1 for $60 and then a few years later I paid $60 for fable two, I have paid $120 for two seperate games one with updated everything that at the time makes me believe my investment is worth while.

Xbox may want to own the tv but so do cable companies, I understand microsoft wants to work with cable companies and 'share' the space but with companies like dish network coming out with set top boxes that also offer voice controlls I'm not so sure that cable and satellite companies want that space shared. Seems like they are competing to me.

Online functionality on xbox requires live, cloud is an online function so it requires gold to use.

Its different because the ps4 doesn't assume its consumer base are well kinected to the internet and doesn't expect me to pay for the internet and ps+ just to play my games looking as well as they are advertised to look. With ps4 I can keep playing my single player games offline looking as good and playing as well as it says on tv without feeling like I'm playing a 2nd rate version of the game just because I don't have internet.

Yeah right, I get to pay a monthly bill for stable high speed internet, pay for xbox live (even if I don't play online) on top of the price for the console and its games just so I can play a game as pretty as its advertised.... I have an extra 40-50 bucks a month to game but not an additional 40-50 bucks to stay online and pay for live...

In regard to the added tv functionality I recently saw a tv commercial for direct tv and they already have a set top box that has voice functionality.
That makes kinect 2 even less relivant since cable companies seem to be adapting similar tech themselves.

Actually I think people are not facturing in kinecs role in ps eye sales. If the kinect is successful and takes off and if developers embrace it and come up with cool gaming machanics people will buy the ps eye because must have games ported to the ps4 will require them and adding the price of the camera and a ps4 together is still cheaper than the competition.

It depends on the popularity of steambox and if valve can get steam os to ship with gaming pc's like alienware instead of windows. If they can get into enough gamers homes then devs will surely follow suit onto linux
