This is only going to compound negative sentiment amongst consumers towards Ubisoft. It would take something really special for me to even consider buying one of their games now.
I don't think he'd understand the term core mechanics. That's the problem with a lot of these management people, they don't understand the product so they can't properly interpret the data they use to determine the direction a studio heads in. For example, the litany of studios forced to make a live service game because the management interpreted live service as cash cow not properly appreciating just why certain live service games were successful. The result, utter disast...
Cheaper to purchase at the point of sale
Able to resell or loan without restriction
A tangible thing you can display
Multiple options for purchase including a used market keeps prices in check
All I see with digital is an attempt to monopolise the marketplace and keep prices high, restrict consumer options, limit legal ownership, essentially take as much power away from the consumer as possible. If we ever shift to all digital, we absolutely canno...
@qalpha That logic is bullshit. You're basically saying gamers will only play a game with female lead if they find her attractive. Why do you play games with male leads then? You attracted to all of them?
Give it a rest man. It's not politics, it was just uninspired game design.
Stick a male protagonist in place, it's still exactly the same underwhelming experience.
A female lead is not political, it's just a fucking female lead.
It's almost as if they want to keep cost price down and repeat sales high 🤷♂️
For those interested, on a tangential but somewhat relevant thread, the Centennial Light is an incandescent light bulb recognized as the oldest known operating light bulb. It was first illuminated in 1901.
But why, if lightbulbs can last this long, do we still have bulbs that burn out after a while? Well, the Phoebus cartel was an international cartel that controlle...
Could actually be decent
If false it makes Gran Turismo the longest running Racing Simulator game on console. It came out long before Forza
The only leverage you have as a consumer is your money. If you don't like it, don't give them your money. It's as simple as that.
About time. There is zero fair reason why digitally distributed products that you cannot recoup any value when you want to dispose of them, should be priced higher than that of physical copies that entail all of the costs and the benefits of owning.
I appreciate this way of doing business. I may even buy Lies of P now because of it. Where your money goes it's literally the only leverage we have as consumers to make a difference in an industry we all have an opinion about. Withholding it or spending it in the right places is about all we can do.
Ubisoft are so happy to shoot themselves repeatedly in the foot. No wonder they're struggling
As consoles coverage with PCs, I hope we finally see console online play not limited to paid subscriptions.
We're heading for Xbox and PC convergence. You're right in that a PC is at least customisable, upgradeable and more flexible than an Xbox and so at that point, why wouldn't you get a PC.
It will lessen though and possibly make all the difference if it launches in a state that rectified a lot of the issues people had with it. A LOT of ifs of course.
Consumer laws exist. Warranties exist. If the user had gone through the correct channels, this article wouldn't exist.
The OLED screen has almost certainly been held back for a planned mid cycle refresh. There will also be some element of pricing, if it had an OLED screen at launch the unit would likely be even more expensive and we've all seen how the current pricing has gone down with people.
The fact that they also rarely have any real expertise in game development compounds things. They'll look at what's been successful elsewhere, lack the knowledge to properly understand why they have been successful and then force a team to 'reproduce' their badly interpreted idea of that success.
We see it so often with sequels to games that were successful too. The team are left well alone, they have a break through hit and all of sudden the money men desc...
Someone's finally said it 🙏
He's definitely trying to stop the rot in terms of shareholder confidence with this nonsense. Still, it takes an incredibly blinkered person not to realise how this is going to generate a lot of ill will amongst consumers, the people his business literally relies upon to keep it afloat.
