And that's what he's doing.
He's asking parents to remove media that they feel is unsuitable. He's not asking for a single ban or regulation.
Here's what he lists as the major factors in the violence around his community:
1. Drugs
2. Lack of Jobs
3. Lack of Youth Outlets
4. Isolation and No Sense of Community
5. Churches are to blame for not taking responsibility
6. Police are doing some, but could improve
This story has been badly reported everywhere. Here's the entire content of what is said about music:
" Q: How significant a problem do you believe violent video games and violent rap music is?
A: It has a tremendous influence on young people and violence. That's basically all they see. Most of them try to emulate what they see, when in reality, the people they see don't even live in those communities. Some of the rappers they see on TV portraying crime don't l...
"6gb is a lot but mac does require duo core processor and a gig of ram...i find that to be a lot"
They're probably just compiling for x86 only. And Core Duo is as low as Macs go on that arch. I'm sure a g5 above 2.0 ghz could run it... especially any of the mac pros.
It's more of humor post than a pervy one actually.
Wasn't bad.
Yeah, I mean... I chose the ps3 because it has or will have the games I care about. But if we're getting into a war of what's being released in the future? That's ridiculous. If we're going to do that, then, if I owned a 360, LBP would top the list.
The title just doesn't make sense to me... at least in terms of it being a big deal. I'm certainly not jealous of unreleased games on their system...
Does it really count if, for more than half the list, ps3 fans are dying to have them too?
I have a ps3 and FFXIII is definitely on my must have list, but until things are actually released it'd seem like we're all in the same boats. If anything it's easier for the 360 fans, cause at least they don't have to worry about delays or wait anxiously... :p
"It's not actually 199$ "
Sure it is.
You can buy it at the Apple Store, never activate it and let it sit in your room forever.
But in the end, like any other phone, you might want service and that means you're going to have to pay. But that's really not an issue since the iphone's att plan is not more expensive than what you'd pay for any other phone on their service (with the same services activated).
I mean, sure, you can bu...
I understand what you're saying, but I don't completely understand the logic behind people's complaints. Apple gave $100 gift card to the first buyers. Now, when Sony dropped the ps3 $100 and you'd bought yours 3 or 4 months earlier, did you get a $50 gift card or credit or refund? No? I bet a lot of people here have seen their HDTVs drop several hundred dollars 3 or 4 months after they bought it.
It just happens all the time. It's not about getting ripped off. Prices change. F...
Well, innovation is pretty rare anywhere in the industry these days.
I'd say the best thing that the iphone has done has to do with interfaces.
Lets face it, cell phone interfaces have sucked. Even just for basic calling, but anything else has been horrible for years. Now, it has improved in the last few years, still terrible, but gradually has gotten better. But Apple really made a lot of phone companies rethink their UI and that can't be a bad thing. I've seen vast...
The price will be $199 US Dollars or less worldwide. That was mentioned late in the keynote.
So about 127 euro or 97 pounds.
MobileMe or whatever includes an ActiveSync conduit. That's why it's mentioned. But no, just looking at it, it's not even in the same realm as ActiveSync.
This is really about using Cloud-type infrastructure to introduce all Windows users to native Mac apps. The sync is fab and makes sense but it's really secondary to that.
"UPDATE: RAN OUT OF BUBBLES, LOL, if it wants to be as "Relevant" as either of those two---it better be as "GOOD" as them. Otherwise why bother?"
Because gaming is a part of the iphone's functions, not it's main market.
Just like the DS is trying to be relevant to people besides gamers by adding software that's not gaming related, but there's no way they're going to outdo most other platforms. Apple's not in it to win the mobile gaming m...
"I'm sure many people are already angry enough with 3G coming out a year after they bought theirs, instead of on launch lol. And for cheaper."
And they need to grow up. Every other manufacturer releases new models all the time. Sometimes at the same price point, sometimes lower or higher. It's ridiculous that they can justify their purchase and then turn around and whine.
Just stick to your ideas. Debating the whole thing is silly.
Do you know what most people thought of novels in the Victorian era? I remember reading a discussion by a poor man who saw an upperclass woman reading a novel and thought, "what a waste, I'd do much more with my life and mind if I were in her circumstance."
We don't know what will be considered great art in 100 years, 200 years or a millenium. There's no way to tell what will stand the test of tim...
Meh. I'm certainly not a 360 fan or a Kotaku fan (other than the occasional interesting J-release content they post) but I think Kotaku's just grumpy about most things. You don't get much positive content about any console.
And they push for page hits...
"I read that it's 13 episodes for the annual fee (could be wrong) so it's less then $1.09 an episode."
Cool, nice catch, I didn't see that. It'd be $1 and 1/12 of a cent then.
"Now to get access to the things that were free before, you have to pay half the cost of Live Gold. For your $25 what do you get? Ads, that's all, demo's are just a marketing tool, and now you're paying for them and, to add insult to injury, being forced to watch ads to get to them. "
So what free demo, movie, etc. has been removed from the Playstation store, is no longer downloadable and is now up on Qore? Has every game that has been released had a demo? If not, then ...
"but you already own calling all cars right?
Haha, although it "can't be compared to XBL" for whatever reasons you choose to use to make you feel better, it is still Sony starting to charge for an online service. I also predict that more and more features that were once free will eventually find itself hidding on the other side of the steel fence called Qore. "
Nope, I don't.
Well, that's epic foresight. You're predicting that a corpo...
I don't think it's a bad deal at all, especially if you don't have Calling All Cars.
I thought about it. I was definitely going to buy an issue, cause I don't see a problem with trying something out. But now I'm doing the math. If I'm buying the issue, that's $2.99.
Subtract that from the year subscription (buying it later would add the 2.99 to it) = and it's $22 even.
Then subtract $9.99 for Calling All Cars = $12.01
So, $1.09 per issue fo...
Yeah, well... you'd need to reference anything stating that he supports any of that.
These reports of this article are about like the reports of Mass Effect being a huge sex simulator. The tiniest bit of truth in the reports doesn't make them any less sensational and manipulative.
Seems like, regardless of what you think of his views, that the pastor actually cares about his community. Whereas that site only seems to care about page hits.
