"forget about bringing something new to the table or showing some creative vision. these guys will bend over backwards for profit and putting out a mediocre title without much effort will no doubt provide an easy cash-in."
I don't know, the last Capcom title I played was Zack and Wiki. I thought that was fabulously done. While most every other third party I can think of is doing the "easy cash-in" on the wii, Capcom actually made something great.
"The only thing I have against this piece is that they don't seem to factor PS3 sales as a blu-ray player, they only speak of stand alone players."
No one doubts that the PS3 is selling well and pushing BR media sales/marketshare size. But I'd bet it's very frustrating for those hardware makers who jumped on the BR bandwagon. They must be bleeding money. So while it's good that the ps3 is still selling, you can understand why the hardware part of this alliance would be ...
At first I was all for the hdd... but 16gb usb flash is down to $50. I can get 8gb for $20.
I think i'd rather they gave us a way to use generic versions of those than some Nintendo branded hd that'd be sold at a premium.
It's cool.
I just think we get too hyped up about exercise when we could really just lead more active lives and eat right. Working out is the product of living inactive lives and then trying to compensate by squeezing it in at the gym. Companies profit off of this behavior, so you don't hear a lot of negative about it, but it's actually very damaging on joints and counterproductive in other ways. So to me wiifit and uber workouts fall into the same category, even if one does more...
It has exercises outside that realm. Read this http://www.n4g.com/wii/News... for info.
Feel free to disagree, I think that people are getting hung up on their perception of the balance board.
"Ok easy I know that a better diet helps alot.. What im saying is... THE WAY PEOPLE EAT NOWADAYS YOU NEED TO DO MORE THAN WIIFIT..
DO you honestly see people eating better and playing Wiifit.. prolly not.. Im saying you need that uber-fitness to burn the calories 90% of people consume in todays everythings fast fried and greasy food.. Am I wrong? "
If all you want to do is burn calories, sure. But you won't be healthy.
"So these people can...
Yep. Great way to keep fit. Keep eating what you're eating, then (because of that) do a strenuous and unproductive workout to maintain heart health while preparing yourself for hip replacements and back-surgery. In addition, doing a workout like that while continuing to eat actually puts you at more risk because more heart muscle + a heart attack = massive heart tissue damage.
Come on. For most people 20 minutes of raising their heart rate is all they need plus a better diet. Th...
And how many consumers need that sort of workout? Way overboard. And sit-ups? Really? Only one third of the movement is effective for your abs. Again, way overboard.
:( My arms get tired. It's worse than when I have to brush my teeth... have to take a shower afterwards.
In the end, the best exercise tool/type is one you use. If they don't go to the gym frequently anyway and WF will promote regular exercise then it's good. If they don't do either then buying wiifit is a way cheaper waste of money than a gym membership.
whatever.
I have one and it just sits in a corner collecting dust.
No BR, no DVD, no Wifi, and you have to charge it with a crank. Soooo prehistoric gen.
You know, I love threads like this. It's like the title is "Shhh! Cute Little Kittens are Sleeping..." when there's good Wii news.
I'd build a cabin here if I had an axe.
Yeah, a chicken or the egg adoption problem.
People won't buy the peripheral until there are games, but devs won't develop until people buy the peripherals.
It was the same problem the wii had. Lack of initial developer confidence. They all felt the wii would flop, meaning there would be no install base and no reason to create games. But then it exploded and so Nintendo is/was in a lurch with devs racing to catch up after the fact (and raining shovelware down).
O_O
I never thought about that.
Are Valve just ridiculously young-looking? Should we be worried that dementia might be coming with old age?
Ah... that's it. They were older, but cool... then dementia hit and now they're diggin' the Wii.
Poor guys.
Lots of things would have to happen to do anything that would steal from the wii's success in the family demographic.
First, you'd have the add-on barrier. Since not everyone has the peripheral, devs aren't going to develop for it until there's an attractive install base. (This changes if a dev thinks they have an insane killer app, but that only happens a few times per gen at the most)
Second, you have to develop a catalog of family friendly games. At the moment, t...
(not quite ready to end it :P )
The Valve team is obviously too ignorant of technology to understand that they were being tricked into buying inferior hardware at an insane price point. What a bunch of sheep. Still, if people want to get ripped off... nothing you can do.
crap... don't spend your time on that garbage console!
We need more "next gen" games!!! Who cares about kids?! Kiddy FTL!!!!111!!!1!
*phew*
Sorry, just wanted to see what that'd feel like. I'm gonna go mouthwash with Draino now.
"I wonder why they want to make controller specific schemes?"
If there are separate tourneys for each control scheme it promotes getting the best out of each. I think it's a great idea. That way you might be the top player in that particular division. I'd imagine they'd also have a free-for-all.
I agree with the article for the most part. But this:
"Gamers are currently a very easy target, mostly because games are a newer form of art,"
Ummm... no. Them being a new form of art has nothing to do with it. There's no prejudice against them because they're a new form. Violent art in every established form is blamed for degeneration. Movies had been around for 80-90 years when Natural Born Killers was cited as a violent influence. Hostel caused all sorts...
What a terrible headline. Someone needs an editor.
