the convenience of the service is nice but here's how I feel about it: I won't be touching the service, and this is why.
Sure it'll be in 1080p resolution but the video bitrate will be small and I would be incredibly surprised if the sound was lossless like you get on a Blu-Ray.
The result of the vastly inferior video bitrate will result in an inferior picture to Blu-Ray. The sound is going to be compressed somewhat which will also lower the quality of the sound....
If this was exclusive to the 360 then MS would have touted it when they announced it.
There's also not any official confirmation so until there is I'd fully expect this to be on the PS3 also.
I think the potential of what they can do with this tech is enormous but I think everyone needs to remember that this was purely a tech demo. We need to see how it works with games but I thought it was great how they flicked through the list of movies and stuff with it.
If they can allow you to navigate around the NXE like that in a really fluid way then it will be pretty sweet.
I think we'll need to wait and see how well it is implemented into games though but it re...
It is possible but 1080p is a screen resolution which isn't as important as the bitrate of the video.
A Blu-Ray streams at 40Mbps and above, the vast majority of internet connections in the home can't support streaming that kind of bitrate so they will have it greatly reduced.
You put one of these streams beside a Blu-Ray and the difference will be like those taste tests they used to do with Pepsi and Coca Cola.
It's great that they are offering 1080p re...
1080p video resolution with a much much lower bitrate so that the file size isn't as large as a True HD movie like you get on Blu-Ray whose video bitrate is like 40Mbps.
The result is a video still not close to the quality of Blu-Ray.
Not to mention no HD audio.
I'll be sticking with discs thanks.
Why am I not surprised the biggest game announcement is making a formerly exclusive franchise multi-plat.
I've got to be honest and say the most impressive announcement for me was Project Natal by a long long way.
The only game that actually looked interesting to me was Alan Wake and even at that I'd like to see and know more before I actually make a decision on whether I'd want to buy it.
Yeah man infamous isn't technically perfect but for pure fun factor and gameplay I think it's simply amazing. I can't put the game down and seem to have put in a hell of a lot of time and I'm not even finished the first playthrough yet.
Missions are fantastic, controls are incredibly well implemented...just every facet of the gameplay is top notch to me and I'll be bummed when I've played through a few times and got that platinum (I'm actually going to make an effort for a plat...
You pretty much just summed it up for me there too mate. "Just one more mission" lol, it's like going out for "just one drink", it has a way of turning into one too many more lol.
I hope they really do announce some amazing things that actually interest me. I know Sony are showing off a lot of stuff I already know about and want to see more of and anything on top of that will be a bonus.
MS however didn't knock my socks of last year and unlike last E3 I actually own a 360 now. I just hope it's not another Halo or Gears if War because Halo doesn't interest me and as mcuh as I have enjoyed Gears 2 I would really love a new exclusive IP along the same lines...
I haven't bought Prologue because I'd rather wait and spend the money on the full game so whilst I am not one of those 3 million odd people you can damn well bet I'll be one of the millions that buys the full release of GT5.
I've got to say I'm finding this game more addicting than any other this gen and that includes Uncharted which up until infamous was my favourite PS3 game.
More than once I've sat down to play at a reasonable hour and then I look to see what tiem it is, seemingly not that long after playing and it's after 1am. My reaction to this is "wtf already?" The game is simply that engrossing, addictive and above all else just immense fun.
Was there a GOW game you feel didn't have killer gameplay? Because I'm pretty sure any fan of the series would say it's always had killer gameplay.
Why else do all other 3rd person action games get compared to the one true God of War? Not to mention GOW is a source of reference and inspiration for anyone making a game in the same or similar genre.
Personally I call God of War GOW and Gears just gets referred to as Gears.
Love R&C and can't wait for this game.
Somehow I think we all knew this.
Can't wait for E3 though, seeing more of GOW and so many other things will be amazing.
This will be a day 1 purchase.
Personally I'm looking forward to Among Thieves for the single player mode. The story and gameplay of the first game and every other aspect were fantastic and I'm looking forward to more of the same in Among Thieves.
If the Multiplayer is good then I'll see it as a nice bonus but for me this game is all about the single player mode. I am very interested in co-op though.
Well I don't care cuz I can't get Hulu in the UK!!
Seriously though, I'd like to be able to use Hulu on either my 360 via an NXE app or on my PS3 browser but unfortunately Hulu isn't available here in the UK :(
This is awesome, I'm a huge Motorstorm fan and I'll definitely be picking these up and I won't mind paying for that kind of content.
Thanks Evolution.
TBH I actually found the services MS announced more interesting than the games.
I like shooters but am not a huge fan and haven't liked Halo since Combat Evolved so the 2 expansions don't interest me.
There were only two games that interested me (I've said only one game in other comments but just remembered another!!) which were Alan Wake and Crackdown 2.
I think the reason I'm not as excited as a lot of others is because I knew MS were going to an...
