I think it's been too much emphasis on hardware. Just playstation in general even though they had an outstanding year their main focus was pushing PS4 Pro, PS4 Slim, and PSVR. As well as services such as PS Vue and PS Now all the while neglecting PS Vita. Depends on how you shop. I have a 49inch LG 4k HDR UHD in the front room and the picture quality is amazing. I only paid $600 for it but I've already owned it for about 5 months. I'm expected another 4k TV, again LG because I really like the 1st one but this time a 43 inch for my bedroom and it arrives tomorrow and I only paid $300 for that. You have to look around for discounts and sales. You don't always have to buy everything top dollar at best buy.
$799 would get you a PS4 Pro and a 4k TV lol
I'm gonna get the Switch mostly because it's suppose to come out in March. Scorpio is still such a long ways off. they been talking about that thing for about year now and it still has another year to go.
Now that I just finished FFXV this is next on my list.
I still want a PSVR but I'm just waiting for some more complete games to come out for it or better use of the peripheral. A lot of it's uses so far seem like mere demos. There is a couple that have some meat to it but it's not enough for me to go out and spend $500 bucks for it. It would be easier to get excited for Scorpio if it wasn't so far away. A spring release or even summer would be perfect but if they're gonna make people wait all the way until the holiday season then you may as well wait for PS5.
I'm enjoying FFXV alot. My only complaint is a glitch when exploring the open world. For example I'm not sure if everyone is getting this but Promptis constantly sings that "ride my Chocobo song" whenever your exploring the landscape and that gets very annoying when your doing the side quests. Maybe it's just a glitch or perhaps this game push the limitations of the CPU. Other than that I think the games amazing. It's not perfect but then again I kept my expectations...
This reminds me of when Microsoft launched the Surface tablet without the touch keyboard which was one of the main selling points. Unless Nintendo plans on launching this thing for $150 then this could be a bad idea. However it's still too earlier to jump to conclusions so as usual with Nintendo I'll just wait and see.

33 years old here. I used to love Nintendo back in the days. Till this day I still feel the NES and Super NES were some of the best years of gaming. It'll all boil down to the price and the games. If they can launch it for about $200 with decent 3rd party support and Strong 1st party classics like Zelda, Mario, and even a new IP would be nice, they should do pretty good. Personally I'm very interested in seeing what they have to offer. I love PS4 and all but it's always good to have something different from the usual as well. So far from everything I've heard, it sounds like a perfect complimentary console.
Sony is gonna drag out the PS4 generation as long as they can. Remember they're a company in the business of making profits. As long as they're making good money on PS4 they're in no rush. They won't start pushing PS5 until they're forced to play their hand either by the likes of competition, or sales of PS4 start to slow down. That's the whole purpose of PS4 Pro, to lengthen the PS4 generation.

I love FF15. They succeeded in making the game user friendly for everyone whereas before it was a niche for only hardcore rpg fans. The only thing I didn't like about the game is camera angles in the fight scenes. Other than that it's almost a masterpiece. I think Final Fantasy is one of those games that suffers from overwhelming and unrealistic expectations.

This is why I always buy physical copies of games. Even though sometimes it is tempting to buy games on PlayStation Network when they have all those sales going on, I still find it more advantageous to go to the nearest GameStop and buy a used physical copy. Once you buy a physical game you now own it. But when you buy something digitally the company still technically owns that game and all you did was pay for a right to play it.
