@Hoops.

None of that matters. It's a niche market. Every PC had DVD as well. How many people hooked up there PC's to their big screen TV's to play DVD's? Pretty much no one. They bought a $200 DVD player instead. DVD would have been a niche forever if PC's would have been the main delivery route.

Same thing will happen here.

In this case people will get a firmware update for their existing console. Free.

"My point was if so much power is left over then they should have no excuse not to run the game in 1080. Which clearly the system is not capable of handling."

But your point doesn't hold much water.

The reason is obvious. They actually PLANNED for 3D. TWO streams running 720p@30fps for EACH eye is pushing out about 10% less pixels than what you claim the system isn't capable of handling. 10%. It's more a rounding error based on the bou...

Resistance 2 was 100 enemies with 8-player co-op 2 years ago.

So nobody was talking about graphics except you.

But now that you mention it's true the PS3 graphics also exceed the 360's boundaries. So you get both.

Then again Assault on the Control Room is still one of my favorite levels of all time. The reason held onto the Xbox as long as I did.

If you want real WAR then I would suggest MAG 256 player mode against...

"I really don't see why this can't be done on the 360 unless someone can point me to proven technical limitations that are known to keep XBL games small."

1. Live has a limitation of 31 sessions logged in per 360.

2. 360 runs player hosted servers not real dedicated server software. Unlike the dedicated server SOFTWARE mode available on the PS3.

3. Player hosted servers mean local resources MUST be reserved because client-s...

Dude you won't even be able to take it to a second console in your own home and let your kids play it under their own account. Your now a criminal in EA's eyes for using a physical disc you bought with your own systems.

It's a big scam.

5769d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

This is a scam. They are taking away features you currently enjoy.

You will need to pay $10 for every other person in your family times every other console in your house to get what you currently have now.

And when your system dies and need to reinstall onto a new system you will need to pay $10 for every person in your family on that console as well because it will no longer be the first installed device anymore

Scam. EA. Scam.

Depends.

Most of what people are calling dedicated servers are really just the player-hosted servers your currently using already.

Just because the publisher puts them in their building doesn't mean they are truly dedicated. It's hardware dedicated but not software dedicated (ie. no client side code). To be a truly dedicated server you need both dedicated hardware and dedicated software components.

What it does mean cheating and glitc...

Yes. Only the account that purchased it will be able to play it on multiple consoles. Everyone else in your family is restricted to the initial console for on-line play using their own account.

What it means is you will have to pay $10 for every person times the number of consoles in your home if they want to play it on any machine like they can now. Even though you have the physical disk and can only play it on one machine in the first place.

IOW it's a ...

Actually it's more than that.

They are taking something away. Access from multiple consoles by any account on those machines.

With this change only the account that downloads it can log in on-line via the subsequent machine(s).

Basically means paying $10 for every other account times the machines in your house OR they now have to play on the one machine they are allowed to using their own identity OR you hand over your password and let...

And yet you bought a 360.

Which had as much in common with the Xbox as the Move does with the Wii.

DVD with less disk space.
5.1 lossy sound like the Xbox
No standard HD - even less than the Xbox.
No built-in wi-fi like the Xbox
No built-in rechargeable controllers like the Xbox
Same fees for on-line gaming.

Yep looks a lot like my Xbox.

I bet it comes bundled with Halo as well.

"With motion controls, I'm not expecting little movements tacked on. But actual games that will have you moving a lot."

You can have it either way. Depends on the developer. The varied game demos clearly demonstrated that.

"During the GDC Showing where the guy was playing Socom 4, his hands were BARELY moving. "

For party games sure it's fun to move around. For a shooter I'd rather sit on the couch like I woul...

He didn't say anything about precise. He said better.

Precision is pretty much meaningless without accuracy.

Pointing where you want to go rather than indirectly via a mouse will be a more accurate method for many.

That's why many architects and graphic designers use dedicated tablets with direct input pens rather than the indirect input of a mouse. It's better than a mouse.

Different strokes for different folk...

Because your comment stated the exact opposite of what the guy said in the article. You had nothing to add other than spamming and trolling.

If you don't want to be reported as a troll then don't behave like one. It's really simple.

When it was Blu-ray vs DVD the comments were most people can't tell the difference despite 6x the resolution.

Now 2.5D isn't full stereoscopic 3D for the TV I'm not buying so it's a disappointment.

On the 360 that's true.

On the PS3 there are 40+

You can relax on the couch with the Move as well. Have a look at some of the videos for Socom 4. Same laziness factor as dual shock. Your correct Natal won't work for you however.

@JoeIT.

The reason for the bitstreaming issue was that chip version was the only one available in quantity when the PS3 released. The bitstreaming support actually required a hardware update.

1.4 has EXACTLY THE SAME BANDWIDTH AS 1.3. Look it up.

PS3 will support 1080p 3D to BOTH eyes. That article is wrong. You will need a HDMI 1.4 receiver for the lossless audio.

The toslink will allow support for those that only have 1....
