Microsoft doesn't want:

1. You having access to content unless they can control what you do and don't pay for. The browser means you get to decide.

2. Live/360 to be hacked even further. IE is the biggest security hole on the internet and a resource hog (for a console). Malware galore and we know IE isn't getting fixed anytime soon and they know it too.

Blu-ray, HDMI, standard HDD wouldn't improve people's xp.

Guess why he isn't so enthusi...

Agree for the most part. In regards to competition don't think Move is as much about the Wii anyway.

It's more about neutralizing a potential Wii HD dropping in the next few years. If Nintendo did drop one and Sony didn't have the Move it would impact Sony's HD advantage over the next 5 years. By having this they neutered that encroachment while expanding their own market.

Of course there are lots of other reasons for the Move but "killing" the Wii is a b...

Authoritative and apparently exhaustive.
Serving to define or specify precisely
Serving as a perfect example : quintessential
Fully differentiated or developed.

Hard to disagree definitive isn't the correct word.

"Both console companies promised HD gaming and both barely do this."

Nope.

Pretty well all PS3 1st, 2nd party are 720p minimum. PS3 has 40 plus native 1080p games. Sony themselves have pretty well delivered HD across THEIR entire development portfolio. From Day 1 Resistance was 720p with 40 players on-line.

"The PS3 actually has quite a few games that are sub HD". '

3rd party multi-platform games that work to the lowest...

"However, most people most likely are more precise with a pointer than with a thumb and that is probably what the SOCOM 4 developer is talking about."

Exactly. At the end of the day will it be at least as good for spectrum of USERS as a standard controller. All the technical bits are irrelevant if that is the result.

"To respond to your SOCOM 4 thing, I haven't seen any videos that show any precision at all. Doesn't mean it isn't, but from what I have ...

"My comment INITIALLY was meant in GENERAL motion technolgy will be imprecise. NO WHERE in the comment did I say it applied to racing game only. I even said in certain circumstances, but I guess a comment in the racing article could be understood otherwise. "

No where? How about in your VERY FIRST (ie. INITIAL) comment. It was about racing games ONLY. There was nothing to misunderstand. YOU made the initial assertion about motion controller precision that you can't back...

"There are no false conclusion. Are you saying that the PS Move doesn't rely on the Gyroscopes? "

Um I never said that but as usual you try and turn it into something else. Having both gives you much higher precision. Having only one gives you less.

"What you get from the camera is limited and you can't rely on it. Why? Because sometimes the movement will be too fast for it to pick up between the frames, yes even at 60 frames per second."

The fighting game is a gestured based game not a 1:1 tracking. I think what your your seeing is the animation not completely matching what the person is doing because they are gestures and not 1:1. Still a work out though :).

The sword fighting game is 1:1 with the controller.

"In certain areas Move will be very precise such as the pointer, assuming they have some form of calibration. It remains to be seen still. "

No it doesn't. Socom 4 is about as hardcore shooter as you can get. The precision is on par with dual shock and they are finding the accuracy is better for many people over the dual shock. The accuracy improvement likely comes down to it being easier for many people to point in fine increments rather than with their thumbs on a con...

"Motion control in general is going to lack the precision that a controller or steering wheel is giving you".

General as in Wii and Natal maybe.

However Socom 4 developers beg to differ. Move had the same precision as the dual schock but was more accurate for some users.

Part of the balancing issues they are working on stem from the Move giving an unfair advantage over dual shock players in the area of accuracy. But precision wise they were t...

Comes with a strap but in addition it is shaped fatter at the bottom, skinny in the middle, fatter at the top.

Kind of like hammers and hatchets are designed so they don't slip or fly out of your hands as easily as a straight design.

Move can detect rotation. Rotating your wrist should easily simulate a steering wheel.

Just like HDMI, Standard HDD, Blu-ray, Stereoscopic 3D in HD.

Looks like Playstation has all the bases covered again.

"Yeh, thats right. Ignore some of their primary games like Half life and Half life 2, some of the most highest rated games in history."

A 12 year old game with a sequel in 2004 hardly puts them in the upper class of CURRENT gaming. It seems like they are more interested in steam now. Happens when companies branch out and lose focus on a single area. They just start churning out ok but not great stuff.

The only info we have seen so far is Natal stops tracking at the hands. IOW no finger precision tracking. The Move controller has already demonstrated hand writing etc by using the controller as the writing device.

Just pointing out the FULL BODY tracking doesn't really mean that given fingers are probably the MOST important part of our body for precision and responsiveness.

It uses 48-points for the whole body. Not sure what each individual joint etc is allotted.

"get this lag out other wise playing Socom 4/ a halo game with this type of lag, it will be noticable motion control vs normal controllers."

Socom 4 doesn't use the camera for augmented reality like these examples. It's uses the sensors in the Move controller in conjunction with the camera tracking the Move. Because you have a controller it has the same lag as the dual shock.

But your right to be concerned about Halo.

"I hate to be the poop flinger here but Natal will likely be capable of doing all of this with out needing a controller. "

Wrong Poop Finger. Natal can't detect if your pointing. That's from the mouth of the Creative Director of Natal. That's why you have only seen a bouncy ball demo with people slapping at stuff with their whole hand.

Party games. With less precision than the original Wii controller.
