Dead Space the game and Dead Space the movie...

RE degeneration and RE4 remake (sorry I mean RE5)

Isn't there a GOW movie in production and - come to think of it an MGS movie too?

GOW3 and GOW movie
MGS4 and MGS movie

Win win!!

Well the RE movies are all action aren't they and so is RE5.

Thinking about it.... The last RE movie was set in a desert setting - lots of yellows and ochres. Air-brushed hollywood types cast in the roles.
RE5 looks very similar in the colour palette department and has a big steroid pushing lead character and a gorgeous air brushed side kick.

A perfect match, I'd say.

COD Wii is actually a good game. I think it's a shame people haven't picked it up.

OK so COD Wii is weaker than the HD versions, as it is a few modes short (like team deathmatch - my personal favourite), but it controls OK and is currently the only online shooter worth buying on the Wii.

And anyone claiming to be interested in "adult" (I'm staying out of core/casual debate - I'm saying adult) titles and only has a Wii should pick it up.

What is Call of Duty World @ War's excuse?

I mean Treyarch created the PC / 360 / PS3 versions and made a fortune. Each of those versions did really well.
Then they had to develop the Wii version from scratch spending extra money and resources. New Art assets, maps, downgraded COD4 engine, because the Wii is nothing like the HD versions ... and then it bombed!

I thought the Wii had a 50% market share. The PS3 (Last Place console ... READ: LAST PLACE CON...

Umbrella Chronicles is the worst I've played.

So what is the average speed of the RE5 zombie?

Because they walk, then sprint at you until they get within a specific radius and then they walk again.

I think the equation would also have to factor in the number of zombies on screen as when there are several they run at you, then slow down, then queue up and fight you one at a time.

Hey kingme

Hope you aren't staying up too late every night playing those two shooters online against your friends.

It's true what you say about shooting the 9mm.

But if you shot someone with a 9mm would they react as unrealistically and badly as the enemies do in RE5?
I.e. if you shoot someone in the leg in real life will they fall over like you shot them in the chest?

My problem with RE5 isn't just with the controls. Although - let's be honest - they aren't great for a current gen game.

My major problem is with the enemies. They look good graphically but they move and react awfully. Enemies were great in RE4 for the time, but now in 2009, by 2009 standards they are terrible.
I guess I've been spoilt by the Euphoria tech in GTA4 and Force Unleashed. Limb dismemberment in Dead Space. Combining rag-dolling and animation in the Killz...

Nice to see Dead Space nominated for 4 awards!!

Yes, RE4 had some original environments (castle was very cool). Yes, Dead Space wasn't very original, but it made no claim that it would be.
The game is basically a tribute some great horror movies. Alien, Event Horizon, the Thing. It rips them off, but it puts you into the movie instead of you watching it.

The things that made the game for me were the little things like:
Going onto the military craft that crashes into the Isimura, and seeing one of those freak...

"I have nothing against unbiased opinions, but to say it was the better survival-horror title just does not cut it at all."

That's fair asking people to explain themselves. Now permit me to do so.

Dead Space is the better survival horror because:
1) It has horror in the game. Where is the Horror in RE4 or 5?
2) It has a far richer audio experience, with one of the best, if not the best 5.1 sound stage I've heard.
"60% of Horr...

The first and best 3D Metroid IMHO.

That video brought back fond memories.
Metroid had amazing graphics for 2002.

AND that Boulder monster was NOT easy to beat. Turn into ball, roll, stand up, change weapon, change visor, change visor back, ball, etc.

Hopefully the Wiimote will make it easier. Swapping back and forth through the visors and weapons and ball mode was the killer and made you c0ck up.

OK, I've calmed down now :-)
I get defensive when games that are clearly developed well, with excellent gameplay, mechanics ... the works, get labelled as Flops.

I prefer: "didn't meet sales expectations" to "Flop".

In my mind I put gaming quality ahead of sales. I'm sure if I built a game console it would be labelled as a Flop because I would put everything into it, making it the best it could be and I'm damn sure it wouldn't be profi...

@kunit22c - I have the game on PS3 and Yes, the game is THAT good.

If you like RE4 you should know that Dead Space completely destroys it.

You should be over the moon DS is coming to Wii. Happy Days!!

HD Flop? That's a bit harsh for you isn't it Arius? You're usually pretty level headed and objective.
Since when did over 1 million sales become a flop? It certainly isn't Mario Kart Wii figures but I wouldn't label it a flop.

Maybe I've taken it to heart as, IMHO, it is in the top 5 games of 08 and Wii owners should count themselves damn lucky to be having a game of this calibre coming to their system.

Its a sad day in gaming when such an amazing title...

Obviously the lightning strikes in Luigi's mansion are pre rendered and not dymamic because you get the same effect each time the room lights up - thanks to the light source not moving. It's a simple static texture change.
I believe that is what you are saying when you say: "Luigi mansion looked pretty dynamic every time a lightning struck" (...but it obviously isn't)
Dead Space Wii could always use some tricks like that I admit.
But the trouble is if you nail ...

Luigi's mansion didn't cast dynamic shadows the torch was just a cone that highlighted anything in it's path.
Check it out. The Luigi character model doesn't even cast shadows.

RE1 remake was easy to divert processing power to shadows because all the backgrounds were static.

Shadows were actually done on Zelda TP. Remember that bit where you go through the fog in the forest. The light swung side to side dynamically casting Links shadow side to side. Bu...

While I'm thrilled that Wii owners are getting this game as it is brilliant I am wondering how they are going to manage to get it running on Wii and keep the game scary.

Sound is the most important aspect and the area that got huge attention in reviews. Many of them mentioned how the audio stage was flawless in 5.1 It certainly makes the game as scary as it is.
As Clive Barker always says "sound is 60% of horror."

How is that going to sound in ...

The controls are cr4p on the RE5 demo so Wii would definitely have that going for it.
