A least it looks really nice.
What's with the Jawas?
White Jedi Knight Chronicals?
;-)
On topic: Looks awesome!
I would be happy with a co-op mode even if they just tacked it on, without balancing the gameplay. Although I can't see them doing that.
Online co-op is awesome!
Heck, I'm even going to buy Resident Evil 5, putting up with the last gen enemies, animation, and poor controls because it has a co-op mode.
Didn't they hire an entire team to work on Bioshock fluid mechanics and the way the water physics work?
How would that port over?
Fire spreading?
Choice?
I don't see them being able to port down Bioshock and keep it Bioshock. I think they'd have to change the way the game plays.
"...when a family or kid wants their 'fun' and 'family friendly' console the wii will always spring to mind even if MS advertised something like this well."
I agree. Nintendo is known as the motion control family console. People will buy it on name alone, which would be hard for Microsoft to bypass however...
...motion doesn't work very well on the Wii. Nintendo's first motion effort isn't very good. In it's current state. I would even call it bad. (Motio...
Convenient.
Do the parasites help them with moonwalking too? Maybe that's why Michael Jackson is so messed up.
So the parasites make the enemies run and then stop dead too? Line up, react really poorly to being shot?
Did all last gen games have enemies infected with parasites, because a lot of last gen games have enemies that animate and react in a similar fashion to RE5.
Tricky things those parasites.
Basically RE4 led last gen. RE5 is trailing this gen.
Regardless of how much you enjoy the game.
RE4 did everything better than it's peers. RE5 does exactly the same stuff as last gen, and as a result everything RE5 does has already been done better this generation.
If you enjoy the game then that is cool. I know loads of people that still enjoy playing last gen games.
But I didn't drop $400 for a PS3 to play games that could have been re...
This is one point I agree with you Foxgood. RE5 will make plenty of sales, but it will make those sales off the back of RE4.
I know loads of people that loved RE4 and they are buying PS3s just for RE5. Shame they haven't had the chance to play a current gen game first to see how games play these days.
Review scores on the other hand I predict around the mid eights.
Good but not outstanding.
IGN US 8.8
IGN UK 8.2
Shame it didn't lean on realism with its awful animation, the way enemies don't react to being shot, the way they moonwalk around each other, run at you then stop to line up...
Trust me, RE5 is not going for realism ... if it was - then it's failed miserable with the enemies constantly reminding you that you are playing a last gen game engine.
Ashton - I think the aggro that RE5 is getting is because RE4 was such a step forward in terms of graphics, atmosphere and gameplay last gen, that people were expecting Capcom to revolutionise again.
Last gen RE4 led graphics, controls and tech to a new level, at the same time as revolutionising the 3rd person perspective.
This gen RE5 can't even keep up with the controls or tech of the average games. That's why we are disappointed.
Maybe it's unf...
No one pi55ed on Dead Spaces parade because it didn't control like RE.
What are you talking about?
It controls a lot better that's the whole point.
RE5 controls worse, the enemies AI is worse, animation is a LOT LOT worse ... etc. etc.
That could have something to do with Dead Space not getting pi55ed on.
Because Dead Space has realistic movement, AI and hitzones.
In RE5 the enemy animation is terrible. The zombies moonwalk and glide sideways as they try and push past each other. They break into a run then stop short and moonwalk up to you.
The hitzones are a joke - there's head shot and there's bodyshot.
In DS you can target different areas of the body. Dismember limbs, make them crawl by taking out legs.
What happens to the axe man when ...
That's better than I thought it would be.
I assumed it would be a Mii Party channel, Everybody learns to count or something similar.
Controls could have been updated.
I can live with the old controls. For me it's the last gen enemies that hurt the experience.
The animation and hit zones in the demo were atrocious. Really put me off the game.
I'll probably still get it though. Should be a hoot playing Co-op with a mate if nothing else.
Once I'd played the demo the game became a "Buy at some point".
I'll get it when there is a gap between the great games coming ...
Hmmmm??
Why would Capcom go to all that extra effort on camera angles when they could have spent that time updating the enemy animation, hit zones and AI from RE4?
It would be nice to have an RE that uses the advantages of the HD consoles instead of playing like a Wii game but with updated visuals.
Visuals are like breasts. It's what first attracts you to a game / woman.
Personality (gameplay) is always more important than a nice rack but it's the rack that sells you the package.
And the way I see it is: why do you have to chose between personality and a nice rack? It's possible to have both.
"While in fact i do, all 3 are toys."
All three consoles are devices.
Like DVD players. You can have adult experiences or kids experiences.
I know 12 year olds that have DVD players, but I wouldn't label a DVD player as a toy. It is simply a medium or an interface for enjoying a different kind of entertainment.
I can see a Wii being a toy if it's purely used for Carnival games, but my PS3 was being used as a toy last week...
I might pick this up as I was a fan of RE4 and Co-op is cool too.
I wish they had put more effort into currect gen tech than just graphics though.
Enemy animations and hit zones are my biggest problem with this game.
And after that I would have like some Dead Space style psychological scares instead of "panicked crisis management".
8/10 is fair though.
Wow - Wiizy - I mean, Overkill is only the second on rails shooter where you shoot zombies on the Wii and it's only the 5th House of the Dead in the series - sounds like pretty fresh gameplay right there.
I guess it must be much more innovative than a tactical FPS that implements snap to cover, character weight and utilises deferred rendering, but what do I know.
