The OS is built to auto-update firmware, software, services, apps, and games JUST like a modern console. It has custom built low overhead OS just like current consoles. It comes with a (completely unheard of before now) game-pad as well.
This is a console with PC parts very much like that of the new x86 based PS4/Xbox1.
This is a console. No doubt about it. It is just a console that sucker punches the new generation in the mouth in terms of power. But does it...
Somewhere TressFX designers are laughing at this.
Because it is turning a PC into a console so those that want to PC game can without being turned off with drivers etc.
I read the online chat myself. It states very plainly that it is a loaner. At least in his case, because he has a Day One Edition maybe and they don't have any to replace it?
Anyway, the way they are handling his case it that they are sending him a loaner while holding a charge on his credit card. Once they fix it they are sending it back to him and he will send back his loaner.
Not the worst way of handling things. But seems strange they can't just...
+1 vote for PS4 being a gift. It took all of my complaints about the PS3 and fixed them as well as expanded on the good things they were already doing.
I don't own an Xbox1 yet so I can't say for certain on it. But it seems with not making Kinect mandatory, used game policy being the same as before (for now, I bet it will change over the life of the console) and their shiny new 300k+ servers to help smooth out web based content and gaming that the X1 is itself a solid u...
This is only in true in some cases. Both of the guys I know that have had this problem were told it might be a week or two before they get theirs sent to them because they don't have any units.
And again, this isn't a "replacement" this is a loaner you will have to send back once their refurbish the one you sent them.
I'm hoping MS pulls their heads out of their rear-ends and funds some decent exclusives this time around.
I personally would take the present day out of it and just do a "Tales of Assassins" type of thing. Make it all first hand experience and just tell stories of different Assassins from different times.
Don't forget Templars were in the Americas LONG before Columbus. You can take the next game all the way from its earliest times to the far east during the feudal days, South America during colonization, or even the Wild West. There is so much history to choose from...
So you're not sure if you are being serious or not? Why he question mark? (I'm allowed to ask stupid questions too)
I was being sarcastic by the way. I don't want to use the xbox to do anything but play games or maybe at most stream netflix or xboxvideo.
Well they gimped the GPU and have dedicated CPU-cores in order to make room for Kinect 2.0, deals with cable companies (which are dying out!!), and background tasks that are not game related.
Which is sad to me because they have sacrificed game fidelity and capability to be a machine that controls everything like a universal TV remote but can't actually act as a DVR and has limited streaming/game clip abilities.
I don't and never will want Kinect but ...
As a Souls fan I can honestly say I can't wait to play another Souls game but I love my PS4 and will not be going back to last gen. I've already boxed up my PS3 and stopped paying for XboxLive until I decide to get an X1.
But I will probably be playing Dark Souls 2 on my PC unless it ships for PS4 before it releases on PC.
Mr. Douglas?
@Skizelli - Yeah, I remember making an autoexe.bat boot disc to be able to run Doom 2 on my 4mb of RAM DX86 system back in the day. I shudder just thinking about the DOS days.
Anyway, I am not sure what you mean about them "not owning" games you purchase from Steam. Your Steam account transfers between all platforms. It is in the EULA. They even have a clause if Steam should ever close they will make a way for you to keep your games without having the Steam Client run...
Let me know when Body Beast makes it to the X1. Not making light of P90x. It kicked my butt in back to back run throughs back in 2009. Lost over 45lbs. And Plyometrics was the hardest IMO.
But I really like Body Beast better. Nothing feels better than your arms, shoulder, and chest barely fitting into your old shirts.
I love my PS4 so far. But all I want to play for launch titles is Dead Rising 3, lol. And I don't have one so...
However I think I am going to get a WiiU for the new Mario game and I just ordered a 3DSXL Zelda bundle online.
So I have some awesome games to be playing in the mean time.
Let's not forget all the games that are on Steam itself that they have personally saw to that work with a gamepad and are being coded to run on linux. (steamOS)
Or the GIANT indie community that is there through steam greenlight.
Or the fact no one knew what a true game sale was until Valve showed us the way back when they did their first ever Steam Summer Sale.
Or that Valve was doing what Xboxlive/PSN was doing long before either othe...
Skizelli gets the 'captain obvious' badge of honor today..
It doesn't matter. They hire the best in the business available to them to handle all sides. It was just design choices. I don't think the size of the X1 is so huge it is a problem.
But I will say I was surprised at just how small and light my PS4 was when I opened it up and found out there was not even a power-brick involved.
I knew the new consoles were basically modified gaming laptops but it never sunk in until I opened my PS4 and held it in my h...
Just the amount of high quality free to play games and the extremely cheap quarterly Steam sales are enough to make this a success. The hard part is trying to convince people who are scared of PC gaming. Even if it is being sold to them with auto-updates, a gamepad, and familiar TV based user interface.
I have friends all the time look at my PC games and how good they look and how varied the genres are and get blown away at the things you can do but still shy away from PC gam...
@Shinmaster - you are completely wrong. The GPU in the steam box blows the 7850m based part in the PS4 out of the water. http://www.tomshardware.com...
Also the CPUs in them are not likely to be so down clocked either if they are off the shelf the PC parts.
Simply put, the PS4 is not better shape stacked against this (power wise) than the Xbox1 is....
