The thing is that SteamOS is (supposed to be!!) steamlining PC gaming to the ease of use of a console. Auto-updates all firmware, games, and drivers. Comes with a controller friendly menu/input system. Comes bundled at the base level with more horsepower than either current high end consoles.
I still am not sure that it will catch on. But if anything will help bring the PC into the living room and break down people's fear of PC gaming THIS is the platform that will do it...
Because then they couldn't charge $15 a month. duh!
I had a lot of fun with this on Steam with friends. Co-op is a blast with the exception of the reduced amount of slow-mo kill cams.
As an avid PC gamer I can say that the PS4 is in fact at least a medium-high end gaming laptop. Which when taking the fact that it is a console in to account is pretty impressive. And the X1 is just a little behind that.
Yeah, it did look pretty clean on the PC. That is why I said compare it instead. There is still a leap in visuals for DR3 compared to it. Just not quite as large of one.
^^ Sadly, THIS. :(
I'm not that worried about it. The game is basically doing what has already been done in his previous games except for on a larger and better looking scale.
With very few exceptions this game is not really doing anything new. It is just perfecting what has come before it.
Lol. All consoles are optimized for x86 and the consoles will be getting PC ports and not the other way around in most cases because of this.
And don't kid yourself. The steam machine is hella more powerful than both consoles with newer chipsets included on the mainboard.
I personally don't see the Steam console taking off. Which is a shame. Because it has a huge library, tons of applications/uses, and significantly more powerful hardware.
...
Should do a comparison of Dead Rising 2 PC vs Dead Rising 3.
It craps on both consoles in terms of power. Even at $100 more it is still better bang for you buck perfomance-wise than any console you can purchase today.
Just a little bit of a google search and you will know that this machine sports more power and certainly more customization than either "next-gen" console as well as a game library that makes them both look silly.
It probably won't replace my PS4 for console gaming but I know my wife would love to play PC games on her big-screen in a worry free environment (SteamOS) akin to a console so I will by buying her one of these.
Judging by the obvious downgrade to her face and hair fidelity I would assume the "definitive" edition is anything but.
Hahahahahahahaha! I wish I did. Hopefully someone got a screen-cap of that.
It is so expensive being a PC gamer. /sarcasm
I didn't pay attention. I just assumed it was naked women in the magazine.
When you have kids cut-scenes become times for getting juice, telling them to stop coloring on the walls, or figuring out why they are crying so you miss half of what is on screen. :/
I really enjoyed this game. I would say if you like Zelda style old school gameplay pick it up.
@snipercontrol-
This site has always been mostly Sony fans. I was here practically from day one. I can vouch from experience. I am one of those early 360 supporters that was constantly being riddled down to 1 bubble because of comments made that praised the 360.
The only reason I have bubbles now is because I happen to honestly think the PS4 is the better system this time around so the sony fanboys check me up on bubbles.
The thing is, even a mid range PC a year or two so after the game releases will be able to play ultra settings because typically every new video card release just about doubles in power.
So yes, upon release I doubt many people will be able to play it at those settings. However within a very short time the "new" midrange PC will be able to pull this off.
How did I miss that Bill was gay?
How Jackanderson? Here is how - Free online multiplayer. The ability to upgrade your machine so you can scale up gfx 2-5 years from now if you want. (but you won't have to, if it says steam machine on the box then you know it will run on your "console") Steam has a much more detailed facebook-like friends list and community than either console. It had party chat/server lists/and meta-data before PSN or Xlive ever did. REAL GAME SALES! I can't say that enough. While you are p...
