Not that hard to get if you are smart and look around. My buddy returned his broken Xbox1 to walmart because MS never came through with a tracking number to prove they shipped him a new one (a week ago today) and got a PS4 by simply getting an armband to return later once "black Friday" started.

I am betting they will go with a shorter lifecycle. People already buy a new $400-$600 iPhone every year or two.

It isn't too much of a stretch to think that by switching to x86 and having full BC in newer consoles that they will try for the same quick money. Especially since they can just make games scale like on a PC where a low end PC (PS4) runs the same game at lower settings but the same game-disc will run on higher settings on a higher end PC (PS5).

@extermin8or - you're just playing with semantics here and it is disingenuous of the final product and the facts.

Here is an example of using only 16Mb of RAM to render 3GBs of textures on screen. (so the math adds up, 32mb=6GB of on screen textures)

They are used to DX and the MS style software layers. Of course the PS4 which won't be using DX is going to be more difficult for them. They didn't say it was insane or incredibly hard like the CELL was last gen. And they are a fantastic developer who hasn't let the community down yet either. I don't see why everyone is giving them so much flak for this.

I hope so. But I don't think it will. I would love to see the PC platform streamlined like it is going to be with SteamOS (think of it the same way you would MS and Sony's gaming OS because it does the same thing) but I just don't see Sony and MS loyalists ever jumping ship even for a 3rd party for Valve. Which sucks because the open platform and raw power of the Steamboxes will match or surpass that of both MS and Sony.

But in the end it is all about games, platf...

Having newer and better dev kits certainly helps. But won't make a mind blowing difference unless they finally man up and start using the ESRAM to store ~6BGs of textures using DX11.2. Or maybe using AMD's Mantle to help out some.

But I don't think we'll see this sort of coding any time soon. Later in the life of the console it should help though.

Not gonna get my vote after ruining 2 Command and Conquer games in a row. (and maybe even shelving the franchise for the foreseeable future)

You should have backed Star Citizen when approached. But you cocked that up too.

I'm thankful for Edward Snowden.

I stopped caring about anything EA makes when they dropped the ball on the latest attempt at making an Command and Conquer game.

No Section8, they don't. You just don't game on both so you have no idea what you are missing.

I thought this was a joke. I didn't know it was a real game. lol

I don't care if they make fun of stereotypes. They do this every day on television on the highest rated shows and no one complains about that.

What I find appalling is that someone actually thought this would sell or that anyone would actually buy it.

This sounds like a memorized marketing pitch. He didn't answer anything.

PC upkeep is not as expensive as you think. And if you get most of your games from Digital downloads the money you save on purchasing games alone more than makes up for any savings you might think you're getting from a console.

It is okay Hennessey86. As a PC gamer I know exactly what you are talking about. Those "never heard of" games are typically better than the crap that is force fed to the mainstream.

But with VERY few exceptions most of the best games are multiplat. No you don't get Uncharted or Halo on the PC. But the big secret here? PC gamers usually own a console or two as well. :)

I just can't wait to play Star Citizen. GIMME GIMME GIMME!!!!!!

Which MS has been proven to be complicit with and willingly gives them a backdoor directly into their databases and services under the PRISM program for special favors.

Probably because the country as whole has a lot more things to worry about liking drowning in radiation, having a lot of their exports made in country cut off due to these complications, and having all of that added to an already weak economy/jobs market it is no wonder they are getting their PS4 later than most others.

Seriously, I really feel bad for the Japanese people as a whole right now. :(

^^ This. I played through DR2 on PC and it was amazing. Really bummed about MS paying them off to make it exclusive. Especially since I have no intention of purchasing and X1 any time soon.

@@UltimateMaster - The 270 has a lot more going for it than just two more compute strings running than the 7850m in the PS4. It is a much better card and the benchmarks prove it. It isn't twice as fast as some have claimed but it is most certainly a better card.

My only concern about this is the games. Without installing windows (which you can easily do and Valve has said they have no problems with you doing this) this will only play Linux based games. Valve has promised...

I remember reading an article where they said that yes, you can take it apart, upgrade it, do whatever you want to with it in the spirit of DIY PC builders as well as dual boot install other OSes. Although obviously if you get rid of SteamOS you also get rid of anything you were guaranteed by having it installed.

I don't know if this has changed or not since that interview but they basically said once you buy it it is yours and do what you wish with it.
