There is absolutely no reason now or in the near future to always be online. But, they may think that ending piracy is more lucrative than the consumers they will lose.

I can't wait...the first one was a little unrefined but amazing. Some ideas weren't fully realized. But the fps genre needs games like this. I hope marketing and muli platforms really help this sell well as it should be one of the best fps gamed this yr.
The comlarisons to half life are quite the compliment and while the lack of hand holding may turn off the many, its games like dark souls that garner great communities because they work together to figure it all out....

Honestly, what is the alternative in a fantasy setting playing as a character in a video game? Just less blood, stunning victims or cutting back the number of altercations altogether? I like it being different than PS. I love trophies but I have to have the plat. So, if its a game I may not plat, I get it for xbox if all else is equal.
But there is an obvious solution. Have one gamerscore but allow it to have different categories. This way, for those who want to know, they can dig further to see more info.

So the leaked footage said that its set in the future but uses older weapons so it does give credence to the fact that this is a group of guys using what's around them to change their situation. Its fine. I always go after trophies but I loved DD so much I didn't really care about them. On a different note, I saved 2nd playthrough for the expansion and an increase in difficulty. Its the last trophy I need.

They have invested too much to not capitalize on it. Sony, that is. And consoles still have to make their base happy as well as create software that can only be played there. Many ppl bought an xbox early on and then a ps3 down the road. They kept track of all the games they missed and finally got to play them. I did the reverse. But, why would anyone ever fork over money for a 2nd console is there were no exclusives. So it isn't just about intial hardware sales but late in the cycle too....
