Umm, I'm a PS4 owner, and I care about the Switch. Nintendo always makes great games. I hope it gets third party support, and I hope the portability and other features are a success. I appreciate that they always offer something different.
I love Nintendo. There are things about the Switch that I'm very excited for. The portability aspect and the different ways to play are very cool imo. I think that camera on the Joy-Con could be used in cool ways. I might play my first ever Zelda game with BotW, and I'll definitely be getting Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey, 1 2 Switch, and probably Octopath (I love Bravely Default).
However, the presentation was painfully awkward. Why even have Sega talk when they brough...
Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2, and Zelda all looked good. 1, 2, Switch looked fun.
The presentation was super awkward though. It also seemed very geared towards the Japanese market.
@DrRobotnik I'm sure it's not the case for everyone, but all things considered, I'd buy it again. All the great 1st party games were worth it for me. Some of the 3rd party ones, too.

As far as relevant commentary, I'm glad to see so many positive reviews. I've been skeptical, but I'm more optimistic that I'll like it now.
I hate basically everything about this game. I hate the characters (except Balthier and Fran). I hate the story. Both the story and characters are entirely way too generic and bland. I hate the "go get this. oh, we don't need it. get this instead. oh, j/k, can't use that now either" that takes forever to get through. I hate gambits. I hate the drop system and how it works with crates. I hate the hunts and summons. The license board was okay, but it seemed like a sphere grid ...
No, it's just hard to trust anything anyone says. Like XiKurapika said, people so often want to troll or are loyal to whatever console or developer and feel they need to trash or praise games and consoles regardless of their actual merit or lack thereof. The gaming community and gaming journalism are total crap right now. It's all a bunch of insulting "them" and hyping up "us" BS.
With something like this, it could be a big deal or it could not. ...
Judging by the comments made the last several months despite little to no confirmed details for most of that time, I don't think most of the fanboys here will even allow themselves to like it.
Engineering years is the same idea as man-hours or man-years. It's an extremely common way of tallying how much work goes into something with a large workforce working over an extended time. For example, the Empire State Building took over 7 million man-hours to build.
If Nintendo had 50 engineers working for 4 years on this, that would be 200 engineering years.
For people who care a lot about graphics, it might be. For me, it's not.
I could never get the image centered. It was always to the left, so I just had to turn that way. Inconvenient, but it's new tech that's going to have some issues like that. They'll fix them over time.
"Anything except a 10 out of 10 is unacceptable" ?
Oh come on, get over your fanboyism. People wouldn't know it, but it's actually possible to evaluate something on its merit rather than the company producing it. I could go on a rant about our over reliance on ratings and how easily high ratings are given out (to the point where they are almost entirely meaningless), but that's useless.
Virtual reality is cool, but just because we ha...
When he's at the airport in the video, that looks like a game cartridge does it not? I mean, it certainly seems like that would have to be the case.
Looks like backwards capability, too, with the Splatoon and MK8 showings (unless those were new versions and I missed it). If so, that's an awesome library to start with for people who didn't buy a Wii U.
My friend brought his over and I tried it out. I liked it, but I don't think it's worth it right now for me. It doesn't have a launch library interesting enough for me to spend the money. It also made my eyes feel weird. I haven't tried oculus or the vive though, so it could definitely just be me on that one.
I'm sure people will disagree with me, but I'm only talking about my experience with it and my own interest in the games. I'm sure it's...
Last generation, developers were continuing to get more and more out of the consoles as time went on. They worked hard and refined what they were doing, and the games improved greatly because of it. That's how we ended up with a game like Last of Us. This generation, having the half-gen consoles is probably going to stymie that creativity and mastering simply because of the ease of improvement due to better tech. Making it easier for developers isn't necessarily a bad thing, but I que...
If I never read anything from or about Pachter ever again, I'd be happier for it.
I don't quite agree with the analogy, but the kind of person he's describing are not just PC gamers but also every arrogant, extreme fanboy (Sony, MS, Nintendo) out there. If fanboyism would die off, the gaming community would be infinitely better for it, but instead people get into stupid competition over who has better what all the time.
Can't wait to read how this isn't Sony's fault (coming from someone who has had every PlayStation and no Xbox systems). First cross play in rocket league and now this. If it was Nintendo doing this they'd be getting demolished.
@edmix: "what's so sad is it makes me appreciate even companies like Microsoft because as much as a dog on Microsoft they at least have enough respect for their consumers to evenly compete with the competition and continuously match Sony with features so that way their fans stay. "
On the contrary, I'm glad Nintendo has enough respect for gaming to be constantly innovating and offering something different rather than moar power. Maybe VR will work out this...
