I would agree with you when I first played MAG the first or second week. But after being involved with the beta for well over a month, I would tell you that it has gotten old very quickly. You haven't played long enough to know that yet.
There are total of 5 game modes in MAG. Training, Suppression, Sabotage, Acquisition, and Domination. The only two modes we can't access are Training and Suppression. Do not expect much from those two modes once the full game is released because Training is just a tutorial, while Suppression consists of mini games that you play with members from your own faction only! The developers cycle between sabotage, acquisition, and domination. If you've played the beta long enough, you've played all t...
Everyone I've played MAG with absolutely hates snipers. We don't care if there are snipers on the opposing team, but we hate snipers in our own squad. Snipers contribute absolutely nothing to the game unless they're defending (in which case everyone is required to camp and wait for the enemy to come and take the objectives).
You cannot take any objectives, which is the entire point of the game, by sniping. And most kills you make by sniping will get revived anyway. I once was on ...
I was a PC gamer once. I bought 360 and PS3 after I got tired of pointing and clicking.
To the comment above me, I actually dislike the Battlefield Bad Company 2 beta a lot for 2 major reasons and 1 minor reason. Minor reason first: the jagged edges really need to be toned down somehow. It's very distracting since it's difficult to discern enemy movement from a jagged edge of a random object.
Two major reasons: I have always hated rush mode in all battlefield games (primarily bad company 1). The beta is no different. I much prefer conquest mode, which I'm sure will ...
MAG actually isn't chaotic at all. Plus like one of the comments below me stated, there's less lag in MAG than in MW2. The entire game is very team oriented, based primarily on completing objectives.
I disliked the first 2 hours because I had no idea what was going on. After 2 hours and understanding the gameplay (plus having squadmates who communicate), the game was really fun for the next 18-20 hours. It's very revolutionary for the FPS.
But after 25 or so hours of...
It's not realistic when the cross hairs glue to the enemy with auto aim (or aim assist). This was the most disappointing factor I've discovered in the beta.
I agree that we should congratulate developers that don't remove splitscreen from games. It was great to play with visiting families/friends over the holiday weekend instead of passing the controller from person to person. Recent FPS games have totally removed splitscreen (esp 4 player splitscreen), both multiplat games and exclusive games.
I disagree with the comment that killstreaks have encouraged camping. I think, if anything, killstreaks have encouraged players to stay alive...
On the PS3, I saw over 350,000 players online at any single time over Thanksgiving weekend.
I wasn't impressed with the beta at all. I never liked rush mode (preferred conquest mode). But what bothers me most about this game is the very lame auto aim that's even worse than mw2's auto aim.
I was a fan of the series except for lame AUTO AIM. I'm sorry but there's no reason why this beta/game should even have auto aim. This auto aim is even worse than MW2's auto aim.
You are perfectly entitled to your opinion. I just don't like the excessive chokepoints. And apparently many people agree because hardly anyone bought the DLC map packs AND hardly anybody played them online. I bought all three map packs and I can never find games that use them.
Hardly anybody plays with the Killzone 2 DLC. Even on the playstation store, the DLC for COD4 and COD WAW get sold more than any Killzone 2 DLC.
I don't mind weighty controls. I don't mind chokepoints in multiplayer maps. But when you have both weighty controls AND excessive chokepoints on multiplayer maps, the game becomes frustrating when it's next to impossible to turn quickly enough at these chokepoints. So everyone resorts to grenade spamming at these chokepoints.
I am one of the few who don't like the beta. I've always hated the rush game mode in the battlefield series. My personal favorite has always been conquest mode.
Maybe he's a good player and made it look easy. It's always easier to criticize from the chair.
That is so badass.
I personally don't find it addicting. I thought the first MW was much more addicting than the second.
Most people don't understand MAG because they've only watched the videos. And I can tell you with 100% honesty that I didn't like what MAG offered based on all these videos. And that's the problem right there. The gameplay is soooo different than any other shooter available that I couldn't even remotely imagine what the game was like based on those videos. I disliked MAG based on those videos only because my mind was tuned to think that FPS could only play a certain way like the billion other...
You see, that's where you fail to understand. The game isn't about pointless killing (unlike other shooters). It's about completing objectives. You kill because someone is standing in your way from completing the objectives. And you do work very efficiently as a team because you communicate directly with your 8 man squad. The battlefield is large enough with multiple objectives that it feels closer to a 16vs16 game, but so much is happening on the battlefield that it's the only game close to ...
I find no reason to have parties in Free for All. Everyone is against everyone in this game mode, so why would you need to form a party? If friends wanted to duke it out with each other, they can easily jump into a private match with each other.
