I care. I actually like playing video games. So, ya know, access to 7th gen classics, it matters.
This isn't about selling consoles, this is about gamers getting to play more games.
I never played Tales of Vesperia or Lost Odyssey. And I can tell you now, my TV can't handle any more consoles besides my Wii U, PS4, Xbox One and Wii (used for GameCube games). Buying a 360 is not an option.
So this is huge for gamers like me who want to broaden their horizons with 7th gen classics.
Is Dark Souls on BC now? Not DS2, but the original?

Well, in truth it's the fanbase who's responsible for going all haywire over stuff all the time. And make no mistake- the Nintendo fanbase is always bitching and moaning about one thing or another. I do recall quite a bit of complaining with the New 3DS actually.

That's how it is with handhelds. Hardware releases, and they iterate every few years. They did it with GBA, they did it with DS, and now they did it with 3DS. Even Sony did it with PSP and Vita.
I bought the original model and while it can't compare to the new 3DS or even the XL, it was a fantastic handheld that offered dozens of excellent games and was one of the best purchases I've ever made in my life.

You are correct in a lot of respects- Nintendo doesn't offer all the nifty features and bells and whistles of rival platforms. But, in the end it should be about playing the games. Nothing else. And to this day they are still cranking out an enormous number of magnificent games. Nintendo will never be like Sony or Microsoft. They are just simple minded game makers who are really good at what they do.

In the end, I'm only a gamer because I like playing fun games. People look for every reason in the book to avoid certain games and certain platforms. But why?
It's as simple as this- you like playing games? Yes? Ok then. You should own at least one Nintendo platform- be it console or handheld. Because if you don't you are missing out on some of the greatest games this industry has to offer.

Ya I hear ya. The only reason I'm ordering one is because A) I love games across the board and own every console and handheld, but also B) You can always just use it to play PS4 games or watch movies like having a big screen in front of you- I figure even if this fails and they abandon it two years from now like Vita, at least it will retain that value no matter what, and C) I'm just curious to see what it's like

I personally don't care. I enjoy pretty much all of Nintendo's core series, so I say surprise me.
I imagine the launch window will contain these games though:
Pikmin 4
Smash Bros Ultimate (includes all DLC and characters)
Zelda NX (a launch window port of Zelda U)
Super Mario NX (they never did release that 2nd Mario game they're working on, so ya)
NX Capabilities Disc (Wii Sports/NintendoLand flavored release)
Surprisingly fun game. After the overwhelmingly disappointing Street Fighter V (which I would have returned immediately if not for the fact I got it free with a rewards certificate) it's nice to have a fighting game that I can actually enjoy some single player content in. It's not quite as good as the core gameplay of Street Fighter but at least there's game to enjoy!

It's even more frustrating seeing people flip out over 2014 patent applications as if that = NX Kinect.
Maybe people should wait for some actual details before going schitzo, rather than rant about a single parent from several years ago. One that was obviously built upon for super-stable 3D tech (hello- eye tracking technology). These patents almost always never come to fruition, and when they do the tech has been cherry picked and built upon.
