What people don't realize about the original Xbox was that the chip that powered it went out of production, and on top of that, Microsoft was losing a lot of money on every Xbox sold. They didn't really have a choice but to drop support.
I actually think they will support the Xbox 360 through 2015 like they said they would years ago, it makes sense because they will want the current 360 to be competition for set top boxes. I also think they'll announce some new g...
Sweet! I wish this had been on the Wii U since launch though, cant help but think part of the problem with the Wii U is lack of quality titles post launch and things like no Virtual Console.
You think Microsoft will just give up 1 billion in Xbox Live revenue per year?
I think they will add the things you are talking about, which would make the value of XBL even more so. Microsoft has always done free Live weekends from time to time, they draw people in to the service with that.
I think a billion dollars is a lot to give up, and they have set a standard with Gold that people willingly pay, why change it now?
I just look at the Vita for pricing on the PS4, Vita launched at $250-$300 respectively, I see the PS4 launching at $450, they might shave off another $50, but who knows?
Microsoft launched a Xbox 360 at $299, I think it's all about getting your software out there and making money off Xbox Live subs, the lower end model might only have flash drive space like the Wii U, or no HDD at all, I am just guessing, but I wouldn't put it past them to release a version in the $3...
If both are $400 each then I'll get both, much more then that and one will have to wait a bit. We did see Microsoft put that they were aiming for a $299 Xbox 720 in the official leaked documents, but that was from a while ago and a lot can change.
I think Microsoft might be able to put out a cheaper console at first because Sony is trying to support the Vita and PS4 at the same time, and that costs a lot of money, where as Microsoft has more money and can afford a loss a...
Did anyone actually think Microsoft will offer a free online service with the next Xbox? Really? Really?
I sure hope not, I mean revenue is up and people that pay for the service enjoy it. No matter what the competition does, a lot of people will look at Microsoft and Xbox Live as the standard for home console online gaming, they are synonymous with a quality online experience. If you don't like it, there are other options and I'd suggest going that route, but at the ...
Well the game launched with 4 multiplayer maps and then they gave away 1 more for free a couple weeks later, it was supposed to be 2 free maps, but ended up just the 1.
Overrun Mode is a mixture of Hoard/Beast Mode, where it's classed based and one team is defending and one is attacking, one team are locusts and the other human, it's really the highlight of Judgment, so overall there were 8 maps, but only 4 for actual multiplayer, now it's 5, and there is a map p...
Those are good deals, but if you get Judgment make sure to buy the Season Pass, or you'll get stuck with 5 multiplayer maps and 4 Overrun maps.
Actually they don't mention the next Xbox version, which will probably be identical. They say the PS4 version will be better then the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions, and rightly so, but I wouldn't expect it to be any different then the next Xbox version.
I wholeheartedly agree with you on DRM though, if they force an online connection I'll skip it.
What if Watch Dogs is DRM? I am not sure it'll be the title people are hoping for if that happens, I'll vote with my wallet if Ubisoft goes that route.
I think it depends on the game, I always have all the consoles so it isn't an issue, nothing is exclusive from me, but I have franchises that I prefer and get more excited about.
Overall though it isn't something I've really thought much about.
A new HD Zelda is the reason I bought a Wii U, but cant wait to see some HD Mario Kart and Smash Bro's, and hopefully a Metroid game that has a good online portion.
The Gamepad has no processors or anything, even if it cost Nintendo $50 to make, how much do you figure the PS4 controller with touch pad will cost? Also, will every PS4 have a camera? Pretty sure every one will come with a headset.
I like the events, but I hope they don't add the two primary weapon configuration back into the game, which is in fact the latest event going on right now.
I think it makes people think and play tactically when they only have one primary weapon. Also, get rid of Stim Grenades completely online, they are worthless and make people invincible for the longest darn time.
I think the cheapest version will be $450 and the most expensive version will be $550, both avoiding the dreaded $599 price point of the PS3.
All you have to do is look at the tech inside, and then look at the Wii U, which is taking a loss at $350 per console, so I'd think Sony takes a loss even at $450 or $550, at least for a while.
$400-$450 is a good price point for a new console in my opinion though.
Those are some rough numbers, but the people I know who own one absolutely love them! The reason I haven't bought one was price, I came close to buying the Assassins Creed bundle last Black Friday but backed out last minute on Amazon.
This year is all about two new home consoles for me, so obviously I don't have money to spend on a handheld, so perhaps next year will work out better, especially if there is a price cut by then. Hopefully by that time there will be a b...
Well I don't think it's the only key to success for Microsoft, they can come out and say the next Xbox isn't DRM, plays used games, and is backwards compatible out of the box, if they do that, then they will be in good shape.
Even though the online forums and communities hate on COD, the masses love the game, so showing off a next gen COD on the next Xbox and announcing they will get maps first again on the next Xbox would probably draw in a lot of people, but th...
Well obviously it's still good, The Last Of Us looks great, and some of the other games coming out on PS3 all look amazing as well. Six years isn't really THAT long to be honest, especially when you consider how great games are looking that come out now.
What if they do announce it? Who will actually believe in the game anymore? I think gamer's can only be teased and screwed over so many times.
Wouldn't soccer have to be more popular in the United States? I mean COD sells tons here, and nobody I know likes or cares about soccer. I would think that it would definitely need to appeal to people in the states, and I've never seen a single friend on any of my friends lists play a FiFa game.
